    When I first started using the standard Liberty 50gr +P I had no issues. Only after shooting it for a while did I start to notice problems. So if you just load mags and don’t shoot it but one time you don’t really know if it’s reliable. Personally I prefer the Ultra Lights. It’s the same ammunition except with a two piece case instead of one. It assists with feeding and ejection the two piece case. I haven’t had a single malfunction with the two piece case design so that’s what I buy. I prefer Federal HST and Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +P. The Hornady load has been the FBI standard for two government contracts in a row. The red tip prevents the bullet from being clogged like a hollow point could potentially be.

    Maybe. Hard to say. I didn’t have problems with the standard in the beginning. Only after shooting it a couple times did the Standard start having hiccups. The Ultra Light two piece case design assists in feeding and ejection. Haven’t had any malfunctions since I started running the Ultra Lights so that’s what I buy when I get the Liberty. I would recommend Federal Premium HST or Hornady Critical Duty over Liberty Ammunition. Even Underwood Xtreme Penetrator or Xtreme Defender are better options.

    I was doing some research on the Liberty Ultra Light 9mm when I saw that Gnome Reviews had a review. I trust the info Gnome Reviews provides in his videos so here I am. You had me at reduced recoil. That, as you say, is the beauty of the 5.7x28. To get comparable recoil reduction in a 9mm is a deal maker. Thanks Gnome Reviews!

I bet with a 5.56 can the 5.7 subs will be just as quiet if not more quiet than 147gr 9mm out of a 9mm SBR. I plan to get a 5.56 can for the Mk57 asap.

    Ahh, good job. You touched on one of the topics discussed only in hushed whispers amongst the 5.7 aficionados. The difference in point of impact between the various cartridges, which can be significant even at close range. I too like the SS198LF, but it’s POI is way off from say, the American Eagle. I really like that you are doing these tests at 25 yards. That distance reveals accuracy issues that shorter distances might conceal. Keep up the good work. You’ve found yourself a very informative niche.

    Really appreciate your input and well informed comments. Especially when it comes to 5.7. I have a lot of 5.7 I would like to test in gel after passing through a plate etc. Problem is setting aside funds for video materials. One day I will get some testing done. In the meantime thanks for watching. I was most upset with the Garand Thumb lethality test. Using only range ammo to demonstrate a calibers lethality is absurd.

  • @5900trek
    @5900trekАй бұрын

    @@gnomereviews The Garand Thumb team seemed to be pretty impressed with the performance of the Speer Gold Dot 5.7 in the gel tests but went off the rails when they compared that range ammo to the Speer Gold Dot 9mm defense round. I agree that was a meritless comparison. The problem was that they just didn't have enough experience or knowledge about 5.7. That lead to the misleading statement that armor piercing 5.7 is very difficult to get these days. I think discerning viewers consider Garland Thumb's videos to be intended as entertaining rather than informative. The banter is entertaining rather than illuminating. Keep up the good work. The production quality of Matt Buffman's videos has improved astronomically from when he first started. I look forward to yours doing that as well. Please don't lose sight of the accuracy issue. I’m gonna copy and paste a Gen 5 owners statement here. Just as an example for you. If you look up Glock Gen 5 issues it will come up. “#1 · Dec 28, 2023 (Edited) Ok here's the story and the advice that I'm seeking. Brand new Glock19 Gen5. Enough rounds thru it to "break it in" From day one experienced Failure to feed with multiple brands of ammo and multiple mags. Ammo and mags worked perfectly fine in my gen3. Thing was shipped to glock and supposedly fixed along with GPT install. Worked fine for a few range trips except when it stopped working on the latest trip. Went and got myself gen 5 rental from the range. it functioned just fine for 100 rounds of my ammo thru my magazines. Got a carry gen 5 off of one of the range employees that one worked fine as well. so at this point I'm inclined to eliminate myself my ammo or my mags as the problem. On top of that Gen3 19 was my carry gun for close to 2 decades and countless rounds and nay a problem.”

    @gnomereviews yeah but I don't think they make standard. It's all +p in tge 9mm. The primers over the years are different colors. The older stuff the box says 2000fps the newer box says 2040fps both both are +p

    I take it that this does not work with the Incog X holster😢

    Right now I’m running a Red Earth Concealment shell. All Safariland parts and controls. OWB UBL & QLS. Had to buy the Safariland 5.7 holster first. Shell was garbage. So I had my buddy John at Red Earth use his shell and the Safariland parts and controls. Ended up with a really nice duty rig. Just waiting for my MK2 to come back. Had the new NT7 Plus plating done by Wright Armory. Elite Ammunition new trigger shoe will be put in last.

    did you ever shoot a group with them? I've seen keyhole now with both the Ruger & also the M&P57

    Have not shot a group with T6B. I am not against the idea. I am sure it won’t keyhole in my Mk57. I would refer to Buffmanrange for any 5.7 related questions on here or IG. If you have any questions ask him. Tell him I sent you. Hope this helps.

    5:23 - SS198 seems to be able to defeat some IIIa. I've seen it fail in old Buffman test (+others), but was sure I saw it work in other video(s). So, maybe depends on the maker? Bottom line I suppose is one wouldn't want to count on it going through? but the wearer also wouldn't want to count on it being stopped? Title: FN 5.7x28 vs Level lllA body armor, does FN really have a body armor penetrating round?? By: 100 RoundsTv (I can try to put the link in a reply) - it's at about the 5minute mark

    🤦🏻‍♂️. Idk what videos you’re watching bud. The Wound Channel had a video up of 27gr T6B shredding a 3A ballistic helmet from different angles. Buffmanrange has videos of SS190. There is no videos of 80Teeth.

    have you chrono'd the 80Teeth?

    Negative. I tried talking a friend into doing it with a larger channel. He has a chronograph. He won’t do it for personal reasons. So until I get a chronograph I won’t be able to get any numbers. I plan to run the SM855A1 and SS190 through my Dead Air Mask once it gets back from repair from Dead Air. Just to make sure it will run. My Mk57 likes SS198LF best with MK2 mags. I really want to find some older USG mags.
