Hey my man been checking out your program. I was wondering is it possible to get a fully remote entry level software engineer job once I graduate your program?
Hi Pat! Yes it’s possible to get a fully remote entry level job as a software engineer, but with more and more companies asking employees to come into the office, there are less and less entry level remote engineering jobs out there. So even though it’s possible, the chances of landing one are getting smaller. But that’s okay, you can work in the office for your first job then after a year of experience, get a remote job.
I can actually code 6 hours a day
That’s amazing! I can only do that when I’m in the zone lol

You’re welcome!
Is really the HR department 😂😂😂😂
Yep! 😂😂
Im building projects that I am going to apply for front end roles, but i am including one project with a back end just to show that I do have a fundamental understanding, they do like it when front end guys have an understanding of how the backend works just because it makes it easier if you are developing the front end specifically for the backend, also I dont like backend, lol. Much rather be paid less doing something I enjoy than getting paid more doing something I dislike!
Good point! Wishing you the best in the job search!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Yup, you are correct. Taking on the full stack route is too much to learn! Found a great course on Udemy called "Working with React & Go". The course teaches you how to create a React app and with Go to use Gin for creating a restful api. The instructor is so far the best instructor for creating React apps. But when I got half way into the course for Go I was completely lost. So you have a valid point. Question? I learned about React routers, useRef, useState and useEffect. From your personal opinion what other hooks are important to learn? I stopped the course so I can only focus on React and I am taking your advice about learning one thing at a time. Thanks!
This is like asking which position you want sex in. The answer should just be YES.
Thank you sir

So it's essentially copying and pasting code from the Bootstrap documentation and then modifying it accordingly to get the right look?
Yep! As long as you know HTML and CSS, you can further customize the basic template code you get from Bootstrap if you want.

Wait, Does the software developer or engineer do all SDLC phase like they are the one who is responsible in the development of a software from the planning until the maintenance?
No. You’re on an engineering team that has managers, product managers, designers, QA for testing, etc. your job is to help build features and fix bugs. Everyone has their role. Managers do most of the planning of what gets built and how.
@@rootstechnology I think I misunderstood the actual meaning of software dev/eng . So, people who is frontend or backend dev can be considered as software engineer?
@Nakinz-ey6ns yes. You are the job title the company gives you. Your job title can be software engineer, and you mostly do backend work.
@@rootstechnology I see, thanks for clarifying the actual meaning to me. I was confused what Software Engineer actually does in company and had several source that say different things about software engineer.
These videos are great! So helpful!
Thank you, Lisa!
Excellent video sir! By the way, are you Nigerian? 😀
Yes I am! Yoruba man from Ikire, Osun State. You?
@@rootstechnology that’s cool! I’m Nigerian American but love to see fellow Nigerians in tech. Keep it up
Currently learning back end first is that wise or should I switch to front end
I usually recommend beginners start with the frontend, because it’s a lot easier to understand since you can see what you’re building. How far are you in the backend, what are you learning?
@@rootstechnology Python and node.js express.js
Dang, sounds like you’re learning two different programming languages on the backend, Python and JavaScript. It should be one, but if you’re following a curriculum and it’s working for you and you understand it, then by all means, stick to what you’re doing. If not, you can use frontend curriculum to guide you: rootstechnology.info/resources/

Hi TJ! I finished the free HTML course in Codecademy called "Learn HTML" 3 days ago. The paid version of that course has projects to apply the knowledge and I didn't get to do those because again, I did the free version. Over the last 2 days, I completed the "106 HTML Exercises" on the W3Schools website just to test my knowledge. Some things I knew, many things I didn't. There were a lot of CSS questions in there and I have not started learning CSS officially yet - so that was challenging. But it was still good to see and try to do. During these exercises I did a lot of Googling to find out what things were in questions I didn't know the answer to. So, I'm not done learning HTML yet. I'm aiming to have that done this month, so that I can move onto CSS next month. I need to keep progressing every day. My question is: Should I now pay for Codecademy to gain access to those projects that were part of the "Learn HTML" course I already did? I see that W3Schools has courses for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (they have individual courses and a Front End Developer course that has HTML, CSS and JavaScript all together). Codecademy also has a Front End Developer course. What do I do next? I'm really wanting to apply the HTML knowledge I've gained thus far, but I also still need guidance/more lessons. I'm not ready to do projects on my own yet. Thanks!
Where is the code?
The idea here is to duplicate the webpage in front of you without showing the code so instead of copying, you think through the steps it takes to create each feature of the website. He breaks it down pretty thoroughly on how to build it. Don't give up, you can do it!
You have to write it! In this video, I tell you what code to write and how to think through each section of the HTML, so just follow my steps and you got this!
Thanks for chiming in!
The HR part 😂😂😂😂just like that 🎉
That’s facts! 😂😂😂

Please answer my question. I know how to run my own business but I want to get into coding. Is corporate America as bad as some people make it out to be for black people. What is your experience like? Is it worth getting into or am I in for a rude awakening? Should I not listen to the negative experiences people are speaking of?
Hey! Don’t let your hesitation about corporate America keep you learning a new technical skill. You’re likely to face discrimination anywhere, corporate America included, but it’s nothing you wouldn’t deal with anyone else unless you’re working for yourself. I say, focus on learning to code first, you don’t have to keep working in corporate America if you don’t like it, there are smaller companies that need software developers too. Anytime I worked somewhere and i started to not like it, I left and got a new job. People are people, and you’re going to deal with them whether or not you’re working in corporate America.
@@rootstechnology When I first found your channel I watched the video on you going from $42,000 to six figures. What’s the biggest things that are great about going up to a six figure salary vs when you were only making $42,000? Name a few perks.
@GoodIntentionsWithMr.Hendrix ha! Peace of mind! Not living paycheck to paycheck! BREATHING ROOM! Less stress! I could finally build my savings! I had money left over to start investing! I could travel now! I could afford a better apartment finally. My life literally got better now I had money to live it on my terms.
@@rootstechnology Do you ever feel overwhelmed having to keep up with the latest technology and new frameworks? Do you have to study 2 hours a day after work to keep up with new technology? Do you work more then 40 hours a week?
@GoodIntentionsWithMr.Hendrix nope! There’s a new technology every month, no way you can keep up, especially because your company might not be using that technology. The main thing to focus on is getting better with the technologies your company uses. If you have free time, you can decide to watch a few tutorial videos every month on new technologies but you don’t need to stress yourself out. Companies don’t adopt new technologies like that.
I think this new method of demonstrating the various technologies is a very good selling point…. People wanting to pivot without any knowledge would like to always have a taste of the medicine…
Yeah, i always encourage people to do a tutorial first before committing to learning to code, so they can get a taste of what the work is like

Jobs use bootstrap in 2024?
Some companies still do, but even if they don’t, the concepts you learn in Bootstrap apply to any other alternative they’re using.
@@rootstechnology will it be too difficult trying to remember bootstrap, sass, and tailwind?
@lastspoil5547 no, it won’t. Once you learn Bootstrap, you’ll understand the concepts and it’s pretty straightforward from there. You don’t need to memorize anything, once you understand it, it’ll make sense and you’ll know how to use the documentation like I show you in this video.
Great & very accurate advice! 🎯 Today prioritized practicing HTML coding on Codecademy. I scheduled 2.5 hours for that and I did it! I kept my phone in a different room to avoid getting distracted (and I also put the timer on my phone to time me). I completed the "Tables" module in the HTML coding course.
