Why don't you learn a concerto yourself, apply to a conduct and play course and try like that... At least he was there learning

In the presence of two between the greatest classics of the piano concerto, Aldo Ciccolini offers an extraordinary performance, in terms of mastery, touch, sensitivity, passion. An example for all young people who face this difficult path, which requires effort, discipline and love for music. Thank you, Maestro Aldo. 🧡

    2011年の日本でのコンサートでは、あまりの音の美しさに、観客が一音も聞き逃すまいと固唾を飲んで聞き入ったのを忘れない。最後にはシャイであるはずの日本人観客が総立ち、スタンディングオベーション。

Very beautiful! Kantorow pairs so well with Lozakovich, allowing the violin its full power and at the same time keeping its perfect place on the piano. Lovely blend of instruments which is not so easily accomplished. I also love the new hairdo of Kantorow.

Again the same Pletnev arrogance I saw in Part 1. The posture of Peltnev stretched out on his chair, same as the picture on this video, is quite ugly and reflects an undesirable character. This is irrelevant when he plays the piano, but important when the teaches a group of people. And when he is standing, he shows a surging belly that indicates lack of proper self care. I would not look forwards to taking classes with him. In any case, these conducting students should not start by confronting an orchestra and piano, but should receive prior classes of conducting, and only thereafter learn how to do it from the keyboard, which mixes their mastery of the piano score with the intimate knowledge of the whole partiture.

CONDUCTING FROM THE PIANO • MASTERCLASS AND CONCERTS Géza Anda was a great musician. Not only was he one of the exceptionally talented pianists of the 20th century, but he was also an equally gifted conductor of his own interpretations of the major piano concertos of the Viennese Classical repertoire. The topic of the music project we carried out is the art - and above all the craft - of leading the masterpieces of this repertoire from the piano, after the manner of the old maestro al cembalo. It was held by the Géza Anda-Foundation in September 2022 in collaboration with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. Under the guidance of Mikhail Pletnev, four young master pianists were invited by the Géza Anda-Foundation to learn the art of conducting from the piano. This event took place over eight days and comprised masterclasses with rehearsals and performances with orchestra of a piano concerto of their own choice. It was accessible to a wide audience, both live and via a simultaneous video stream. “Conducting from the Piano” was crowned with two concerts, one at the base of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in Kriens/Lucerne, the other at the Small Hall of Tonhalle Zurich. geza-anda.ch/conducting-from-the-piano-masterclass-and-concerts/

I hold Pletnev as a good Russian pianist. I have never seen him except playing the piano. From his teaching here I find that he has an arrogant character. In particular with this Chinese pianist, who has an introverted character and very courteous demeanor, his tone is nagging and scolding, far from any courtesy. He is not the kind of teacher I wish to have.
