  In October of 1968, Ruben Salazar was the LA Times Bureau Chief in Mexico City and he covered the Tlatelolco massacre. I was there too. When it began I was riding my motorcycle through Mexico City. My motorcycle journey began in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, where as a U S Peace Corps volunteer, I learned to live and love among a majority black population. My motorcycle journey ended in East Los Angeles, where I worked for the Times and met Ruben Salazar. Ruben's wife was white and my fiancé was black from Puerto Limón, Costa Rica. We became friends and I suspected that he, was behind Chuck Barris inviting my fiancé and I to be the first bi-racial couple to be on the ABC's Newlywed Game. We accepted, quickly married, and taped the Newlywed Game that aired nationally on ABC July, 1968. Our kiss was the third bi-racial kiss on national television in the United States. Ruben Salazar was all about racial equality, he was a mentor to gringos and Chicanos alike. He was a hero to millions of people, he was my greatest hero and influenced my life. He was a soldier and after that reported the war for the LA Times from Vietnam. He was always very careful to maintain his patriotic stance publically, this because he knew he would not otherwise be published. He confided in me about police corruption in Los Angeles and the corruption he witnessed in Vietnam. It is my opinion, what Ruben Salazar witnessed and explained to me 50 years ago is true today. Ruben told me to be careful. As I see it, today, many police and many who make war have more tools and we have less of a Constitution.

  Turned it off immediately, because the music is annoying. I want to focus on the text. Putting music on every video is like putting sugar on every meal. It's gonna ruin your taste buds. Teens producing their first video can be forgiven such a sin. I doubt though that the person who uploaded this video, is a teenager. When will folks on KZread learn?
