    Have you tried using the double rig on a slip bobber before?

  • @OutdoorQuests
    @OutdoorQuests3 күн бұрын

    I have, but I've used a clip on bobber more, simply for convenience vs re-tying the rig just to have a bobber on.

    I’m new to garmin 73sv and have livescope also. In your video you went into livescope simulator. Can we do this with transducer out of water, and do we have to have black box turned on when we do it?

  • @OutdoorQuests
    @OutdoorQuests8 күн бұрын

    Simulator mode doesn't require transducer's being connected or turned on. It simulates the transducer(s). You can turn your transducers on out of water for short durations, but Garmin recommends not leaving them on for any extended period of time out of water, as that can damage high-power transducers (1kw and higher transducers). High-powered transducers use water to keep them cool.

    How does the system hold up to drag at higher speeds? Do you notice any movement in the main drop rod? I am about to build this and attach my thrusters to them. Wondering how sturdy the pvc will be under forward thrust.

  • @OutdoorQuests

    It holds up well. If you have plastic track mounts, those track mounts would likely fail before the scheduled 40 pvc would.

    How do you save the itrack? Do you just hit stop?. I tried this and it worked the same day but the next day the track was gone from memory.

  • @OutdoorQuests
    @OutdoorQuests8 күн бұрын

    Yes, hitting stop saves the track. I couldn't say why though yours didn't save to memory. The track I showed in the video that I had saved, were there from the year prior. It should keep it indefinitely, or until you delete it or until you record over it with a new track.

    Why not loop knot both to get better action on the bottom jig

  • @OutdoorQuests
    @OutdoorQuestsАй бұрын

    IMO based on what I see on livescope, jig action isn't that important (if it even matters at all) in triggering crappie. I primarily like the efficiency of a double jig setup to test colors to see if one color is more effective than another. It's also a lot easier to see 2 jigs vs 1 on the sonar. I appreciate you watching. Tight lines.

  • @OutdoorQuests

    Are you talking about mounting the graph up front? For me, the graph placement being close since it's a touchscreen is why I put it there. I'm constantly making adjustments and switching views. I chose the right side, because most of my casting is done with my left hand. That way the graph would be less likely to be in the way of casts and landing fish. Hope that helps.

    I prefer loop knots on both jigs. I had always just used clinch knots to tie my jigs on, but saw a video a couple years ago about loop knots. Since going to loop knots we’ve never caught as many fish as when we didn’t use them. It allows them to hang at the correct angle all the time. We even did a study loop vs clinch knots. Loop knots won almost 2:1

  • @OutdoorQuests
    @OutdoorQuests3 ай бұрын

    Nice! I still prefer a direct cinch knot on my bottom jig. The key for me, is I can stand the jig straight out with a cinch knot. I've not personally noticed any difference in hookups with a loop or direct cinch on the bottom jig. I think it sometimes comes down to what you have confidence in. That cinch knot is one I learned decades ago bass fishing, and have used and applied it many ways over the years. Plus, I can tie it really fast (especially when my digits are freezing!).
