    Usually about 5 years. A lot depends on what caused the failure initially. Completely failed subgrade or continued water intrusion outside the patched are significantly decreases longevity.

    Uk here Our people dont blow the hole out, whether its full of water or debris , then they chuck a shovel of tar mix in.....stamp it down with their feet -----------------job done The hole then breaks up 2 months later Oh I forgot they dont use the liquid tar to seal the edges....they now use a type of tape thats supposed to be pressed down but usually they just hand put it on and leave

    It is a cost effective, semi-permanent solution to prevent further water intrusion into the subgrade. Done properly, each "heat" can be executed in about 12-13 minutes. No, it does not address the underlying issues but, offers the customer a temporary cost effective solution until they can appropriate the funds for large scale permanent repairs.

    Well, you still need fresh asphalt daily. This unit carries 3 tons in a heated hopper. Infrared patching is a quick way to do a seamless patch. The old asphalt is and new asphalt bond together because both are back over 280 degrees. As with all patches though, if the subgrade has failed, the patch will also eventually fail but, these typically last 3-5 years and should be used as part of a larger maintenance program.

    Oh pot hole repair, good man, but. Where would you go if you were to die today? Seek the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ before it's too late. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Hell is real and Heaven is also real. You don't want to spend an eternity in Hell torment without God. The only way to escape Hell is to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Study the KJV Bible to know more and pray and seek until you find Jesus. Don't delay tomorrow might be too late. You are not promised even the next minute. Do it now

    Congratulations, finally someone repairing holes in road surfaces in rectangular shape, so they seal properly. Just filling in the round or ovoid shape won't work as the surface pressures are not equalized. Good job. Never seen melting the old seal though that's a new one on me.

    The material looks really dry heating it up like that. Do you ever have any issues long term doing patches this way?

  • @AsphaltMaintenanceGroup
    @AsphaltMaintenanceGroup3 жыл бұрын

    Asphalt is batched at plants at temperatures from 300f - 350f. This unit keeps the asphalt at around 280F. We heat up the old asphalt to around 300f to remove it and replace it with new. This is not a permanent, long term, solution but is a LOT cheaper than traditional full depth patching. Besides cost, one of the biggest benefits to Infrared patching is no joint lines. Since we're heating the old asphalt back to its original working temperature and the new asphalt being laid is the same temperature, the two bond back together during rolling. No new joint lines that could let water back into the subbase. Like I said though, this is a temporary solution. Life expectancy is around 3 - 5 years. In the majority of cases though where the customer has chosen this method of patching, the Infrared patch will outlast the surrounding asphalt.

    @@bbgunn135 This 1/2" mix comes straight from the plants. These trucks carry about 3 - 3.5 tons of mix and as long as the propane tanks stay full, will keep the mix hovering around 300 degrees all day. I'm a fan of the broom as well!!

    Excellent work gentleman. I’m a journeymans but I can’t spells it LOL. I was a Union painter (spray man) for 30 ,years and can see this is a science. Yes science that takes an well trained experienced journeyman for this quality. Apprentices should be there to clean the asphalt get the lines moved keep the material moving and help set up the job for journeymen to keep the trigger pulled. Like the response I read talking about compressor, spray gun, spray tip size for material viscosity the porosity of the pavement and the fact the surface has to be prepared much better for a spray application for adhesion. I also read a response criticizing the quality of this crew in the video and how criticism doesn’t deserve a response. I get it. Just because some con artist ripped ya off with a thinned down sealer and the wrong spray equipment, bad procedure and a sloppy job for a quick buck! Please don’t analyze a job ya know nothing about. I sprayed finish lacquers, epoxies, enamels, three component zinc chromate, three components latex and solvent based epoxies and would need to be trained and taught to know what the hell I’m doing to replicate a job this company is doing. Oh yea! Ya don’t see a cars anywhere because the best crews coordinate removing vehicles long before the job starts! Unfortunately crews like this don’t do residential jobs. This crews work is a professional commercial contractor. I use a contractor who sealed commercial work for years and when they retired they started a residential driveway sealing company. I don’t have to tell my neighbors who seals my driveway because my neighbors ask for their phone number.

  • @AsphaltMaintenanceGroup
    @AsphaltMaintenanceGroup3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the kind words Kenneth. It took a tremendous amount of coordination with the property management company and many, many businesses to get this project done in a timely manner. You are correct, there are many things that happen besides just spraying the product down. Traffic control, pedestrian control, signs, barricades, public relations individuals, hours of cleaning long before the sun comes up and striping that happens late at night. Projects like these take the effort of an entire team to pull off and, when done right, comes off almost effortlessly. All these years later and I am still very proud of the efforts of everyone involved on this project.

    I agree that this is not the best permanent solution to the problem but, it is the best solution that the customer could afford at the time. This entire drive lane and attached parking areas needed replaced. A couple of full depth patches was not going to solve this customers overall problems with this property. Infrared patching was used as a temporary measure to address immediate needs.

    They are actually doing a pretty good job they just need to add back some asphalt meaning Liquid tar witch holds the asphalt together without it it’s just gravel when you heat it up it burns some of the asphalt out just like 20 years of sitting there the sun does the same thing that’s why you have to add a little bit back in so it will stay for years to come .

    This is great, no saw cutting necessary! The material can cool off as a larger surface area thus allowing the the area arround original pothole to be restructured opposed to a traditional cut and patch method that can allow the surrounding areas to have stress fractures that can lead to a potential crack between the new and pre existing materials. I also enjoy seeing the primer get used the way its supposed to!
