One question I have always been curious about is whether Toriyama planed this right from the bat that Goku was some sort of an alien or whether he originally had some other explanation for this matter why he was turning into an ape, behaved like a raging beast, and forget everything about this later.

I agree. That's the only advantages the funimation dub has. Everything else was far superior in the original version. And no other version is as good as this one, for it simply fits to the Japanese style. So, the best version would be the original Japanese version with falconer music added. I would love that.

@@xpyrox5462 The original Japanese version has this primitive music that sometimes be good, but in the majority of the cases lowers the level of this version, for it sounds too cheep. Falconer's music is from the funimation dub, which sometimes can be over the top, but in several other cases improves the level, for it has a much higher quality. So, actually a mix of the original Japanese music, mixed with Falconer for the most part with original voices would be the best.

@@aaronw.9910 i know on Falcons, most of the over the top power ups gave me goosebumps and still does to date. #1 Vegeta's final flash - Cell #2 Goku SS3 for the first time #3 Vegeta turns SS against android "Does an android ever feel fear" these three in particular, do not quite hit nearly as good, without falcnor lol but still in love with this at the old age of 40 and im glad to see many others as well :)

@@xpyrox5462 Of course, and I am only 3 years younger than you. I always was a fan right from the bat, so I had no idea how awesome DBZ really is when I was younger. For I grew up with the German version, which is one of the worst. I heard the French version was the worst, which I can not confirm myself. I can only confirm how horrible the German version is, full of translation errors and terrible voice acting (Oliver Siebeck aside), totally robotic since the actors were forced to speak ... and yell ... in front of tiny small screens under a lot of stress and pressure. So hearing the funimation dub for the first was like a breath of fresh air, and the same exact thing with the original version. The thing about DBZ is that it's a total one hit wonder. No other show could manage to get even close to the way it originally was made. A total masterpiece. No other translation could catch it, no remastered edition - I'm talking about DBZ Kai. Just the way it was shown on the TV for the first time. And only until the season on Namek was over, for everything that was made afterwards wasn't as good anymore, unfortunatelly. Which doesn't mean I don't love it, which doesn't mean there weren't wonderful moments, but it wasn't really DBZ just the way I wanted to see with real energy explosions that get more and more the stronger they became.

That's not too hard to accomplish in considering how inferior the funimation and ocean dubs are. And it's not even the worst, I heard, which I can not confirm myself, the French version is the worst. But I can tell you how horrible the German version is. It feelt so amazing when I heard the funimation dub for the first time, for I grow up with the German version, full of translation errors and horrible voice acting (Oliver Siebeck aside), so hearing the funimation dub was like a breath of fresh air.
