You got the hi hat barks perfectly! Most drummers on youtube tend to leave it open for too long, and lose the percyssivenes of it.

You didn't mention the flourish at the beginning, which is the only reason I watched this video.

I sifted through many tutorials of this particular cover in attempts to learn the proper sticking, and most of the tutorials that popped up were from awesome people with huge YT channels who have many followers. But I could hear and see it wasn’t being taught correctly as it sounded off from the original recording. I get it, many teach their own versions or their takeaway of how they hear it, and that’s great. We can always learn from others. Then I ran across your tutorial, you nailed it and explained the original sticking better than any other video I’d watched. While I’ve no doubt people who learned the sticking from watching other videos of this particular song sound fantastic and are locked in, it’s still not always taught/learned correctly. And for such an iconic song, my thoughts are that it should be learned and played in its original form. But that’s just me. I wanted to take the time to thank you as I’m my opinion, you did a spot on job of breaking this song down.

When playing the snare base snare base part does the hi-hat remain closed? Or quickly opened and shut when the snare is hit?

Hallo, great video but you got it wrong. The charleston always follows the muted wah guitar. Check it out on the 1977 live.
