  Think the tanks are new M1A2 SEPv3 tanks possibly heading to don't have unit identification on them and there are not any scheduled moves to Europe (Majority of standard rotations took place in May-June). I think these may be destined for Army Prepositioned Stock-2 (APS-2) Coleman in Mannheim, Germany possibly replacements for their tanks which were transferred to APS-2 @ Powidz, Poland.

  For both the Washington-Atlanta Mainline and the NC-Line in the Greensboro area the radio frequencies are AAR channels 053 (160.905) and 027 (160.515)

  They do, NS uses 056 (160.950) as the main channel south of Lexington NC to either Greenville SC or Atlanta GA.

  The HPT&D tends to come north through Thomasville between 9:00 and 11:30 AM. That particular Z294 in this video went through around 10:30.

  I find it so strange how even the most modern Amtrak locomotives, even ones built by a German manufacturer, still look literally a quarter of a century older than anything Siemens has built for the German and neighboring markets in the 1990s, and don't even get me started on the positively ancient looking rolling stock Amtrak uses. Optics DO matter. I want to be proud of Amtrak, but even the worst Rail service in the western EU is better by several orders of magnitude.

  Awesome video I really enjoyed it! Quick question though, how do you know the model of the train when you catch it since you seem to identify the trains well such as the C345 coal train, and I’m wondering how you know the model of the train, and where it is going. Is it called out on the scanner and that’s how you know the model?

  Excellent questions! I use hand held radio and online scanner feeds to identify the trains I catch, as well as get a warning of when a train approaching. As for train numbers and symbols CSX, NS, and other railroads' train symbols and numbers can be easily found online as well their respective locomotive rosters.
