  Strike from the farthest edge and follow the closest strike mark towards yourself each time. Basically if you throw a football ten feet in front of you, the mext will be nine feet, the mext will be eight feet, seven feet, six feet etc.. you'll have more luck spliting logs. YOU'RE WELCOME

  Y’all should saw this white oak mantle I salvaged from work most expensive piece of wood I’ve ever layed eyes on and when we got to the campsite I cut it into big blocks and when it was burning I’ve never seen anything quite like it worth every penny I didn’t spend on it

  I'm working on the exact same...had an oak that came down last autumn and had to get a 20" sword on my chainsaw just to get half way through. It looks like you are using a Fiskars ax, but if not I would recommend Fiskars X27...it really does the work. I would also normally cut down the wood to 12"....it looks like this is more 20"
