First just wanted to say thanks for making the Mach-E Files! In looking at different content when deciding to buy an EV, and specifically a MME, your videos gave me the most realistic picture of what it's actually like to own one. Now after having had my MME GT for just over a year, I couldn't be happier! I'd be interested in seeing how you keep your Mach-E so clean any shiny all of the time - how often do you wash it, what do you use, do you use a ceramic product or wax, etc. Thanks!

Hi Chris...I've been trying to get a video reply of these questions for some time but my summer schedule is unusually busy, so I thought I'd answer here for now... Thank you for the comments! I consider myself an EV advocate, but I'd be the first to say they're not for everybody. It doesn't help anybody to only show the good side of EVs...even though (for us) it truly is mostly "a good side". I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your MME GT! When we bought ours, a Premium was about all we could afford, and we're very happy with it, but I'll admit I miss having something that "goes like stink" every once in a while. I hope yours brings you many miles of smiles! As for your question...first of all, thanks for the kind comments, but I assure you our car DOES get dirty. But at the same time, probably not as dirty as it would if we lived in any number of other places. Here in the PNW we have very temperate weather...and we live in the "valley" where we get very little snow. Our winters are mostly 40 degrees and rain. And ODOT rarely puts down any kind of salt on the roads. This helps to keep any car pretty clean overall (or at least easy to do a quick clean on it). Oh, and our summers are gorgeous...rarely with rain at all. So we wash it a few times throughout the Spring and it stays pretty clean over the summer...when it almost only needs a "dusting". We don't do anything to complicated with washing, we have a foamer and pretty much just foam the car, run a clean wash mitt or two over it, and rinse. If you check out ep 002 of The Mach-E Files, you'll see us in action at the very begging of the video. It really is just that simple. The rest is all due compliments to Ford's Rapid Red paint color...it really glows in the sunshine and can hide a thin layer of dust or pollen pretty well...especially from 10' away where the camera is. Thanks for the question! Cheers, Doug

Just stumbled across your channel and have been going through your videos. Great stuff! Still on the fence, on buying an EV. Question: I have heard through other videos that using the heat in the winter puts a hit on your milage / battery %. Is it safe to assume that the A/C and Radio do the same thing? I enjoy traveling down the road blasting the heat/AC as well as the radio at obscene volumes....am I gonna just kill the whole battery in one trip? Any idea how much battery these things use? Question: I know that every state is different but, what's the annual license plate inspection like? I have to guess that an emissions test would be kind of a waste of time so, is it just safety inspection? Question: Do you know, do they make an outdoor home charging unit? I don't currently have a garage to park in, so any kind of home charger would need to be weather tight. Question: I travel 80 miles or so round trip, back and forth to work...3 days a week. Would that leave me battery to charge on the weekends, or would it be better to charge mid-week? Last one: "Life with my Mach E would be SO much better, if Ford would just ____________!" Gonna go back and do a few more videos. Wes

Hi Wes....I've been trying to get a video reply of these questions for some time but my summer schedule is unusually busy, so I thought I'd answer here for now... First impression is it looks like you're an excellent candidate for an EV, so thanks for the great questions! RE: Heat and range loss...yes, for sure needing to use heat will reduce range, as will AC (although I think heat uses a little more, depending on your heat source...look for an EV with a heat pump for best efficiency). How much loss depends on how cold the weather is. Here in the PNW we don't get REALLY cold very often...barely at all, actually...so our 40-50 degree winters only knock our range down roughly 10-20%. If you're talking Minnesota cold winters, then you could suffer a 30-40% range loss. If you live an a cold area, be sure to get a car with heated seats as those use less energy than heating the whole cabin. There are even some EVs that offer a "driver only" setting in the HVAC to just keep the driver cozy. Using the radio is minimal use on the battery...like literally 1% minimal. Same for charging your phone. Frankly your speed will have a greater influence on range than any of the accessories like that. RE: license plates...here in the greater Portland, OR area we have "E-check" where gas cars must have their emissions checked every couple of years for renewal. Pretty sure we have nothing for the Mach-E. The dealer took care of our initial plating and I'm pretty sure we just renewed our plates through the mail. I don't know about other states (if they have whole car safety checks, for example), but I doubt anybody worries about emissions on an EV. Easy! RE: exterior home charging units...yes, for sure most (possibly all?) charging units can be used outside. Check out Tom Moloughney's "State of Charge" KZread channel...he has comprehensive reviews of most chargers...a lot of great info there! RE: 80 miles 3x a week...so this depends on a few things. In good weather, with a 300 mile range car like our Mach-E, we could make that commute easily...it's pretty simple math. In a Minnesota winter...I'd be charging at least once during the week as well...maybe even twice just for safety. But that's kinda the beauty of an EV...you just plug it in when you get home and it's fully ready to go the next day. On this same topic, something you might want to look into is a cost per mile calculator and apply it to this same commute you're talking about. If you're going over 200 miles a week, depending on how much your electricity costs, you could be saving SIGNIFICANT money every month. For example, we calculated that, when charging at home, our per mile cost on the Mach-E was 1/5 that of our 30 MPG Subaru Impreza. Even when we traveled and paid the more expensive fast charging rates, our cost was still half. It adds up pretty quickly! RE: last one....hmmm...EV ownership really is pretty easy overall, at least for us and our situation. I would say the biggest thing Ford could have done to make everything better / easier would have been to invest in their own charging infrastructure like Tesla did. The good thing is, now that they're partnering with Tesla, road trips just got a lot easier. Still, more players in the infrastructure game could only help. But for local / regional traveling, it doesn't get much easier. I would say the same about most EVs, especially ones with high 250+ mile range. Really all of our gripes about our Mach-E are glitch related...there's a lot of "tech" in EVs and sometimes the software can be a bit "buggy". But we also get over the air updates that mostly fix everything in time. Knock on wood none of these glitches has left us stranded in any way, so we've just learned to live with them. Thanks again for the great questions...for sure keep up with the research here on KZread, there are a lot of great channels with good info. If you do go down the EV route, I hope it brings you many miles of cheap and trouble free motoring! Cheers, Doug

My last name consists of a upper case letter followed by a lower case letter followed by a space then a capital letter. This has a name but I don't know what it's called. For example. ..Mc Carty. And no I'm not Darren. Thanks.
