I believe that Elon is one of the few thinkers without being political . But, he has an ace in his arguement . His Solar panel , battery and car busineses are all subsedised by governments around the world . He's already receiving billions of US dollars indirecly through these subsedies . And nobody is counting the CO2 cost , let alone the poisening of the planet from the biproduct from the manufacturing of his businesses . It's not so easy to count the cost of these products in tearms of pollution as the bulk of it is made in China where the cost of poisening the planet is hidden Climate currently is the best for humans existance that it's ever been . Climate is forever changing . As little as ten thousand years ago there was 3 miles of ice on where New Yord is . We as people have a lot of work to do just in educating the world to obtain useable water . But while CO2 grabs the headlines and funding little of real value will be achieved . Good luck world .

Why would you want more Americans to go without even more? Do you know how much food cost because of all of these taxes to feed two people about $800 a month start doing the math for every American that you’re asking to go without so you can have Mars, it’s really not fair. I can see if it was like made sense but that many batteries is crazy. I’ve seen propane powered cars.

Honestly, I think if somebody wants to drive one of your cars, they should wholeheartedly have to pay for it and they should have to pay for everybody else’s insurance going up because these cars are too expensive and Americans don’t really fucking need them. Let me tell you my opinion I’m sure this pays for all of your ideas, but a spike was also making all of those fucking batteries to go in all of those cars

Yep his opening statement is exactly what I believed "turd in the punch bowl" but this doesn't take in consideration that the world runs its own carbon cycle. Let's take geothermal, take it to its EXTREME. If we pull heat from the core where does it go, to the surface, heats the atmosphere while cooling the core then what happens? 🤔 😵

As always, bravo Elon. Brilliantly and simply explained. I 100% agree with your proposal to deal with the issue. One observation/question I have though is, in the Geologic past there have been periods where Atmospheric CO2 levels were way higher than anything we have now. And where the spikes occurred far more rapidly than 200 years. Epochs of intense Volcanic activity like Decan traps etc. The Planet and Ecosystem have survived these nicely. I have a hard time believing that a 2 degree warming of the atmosphere is a threat to our civilisation. Might even delay the next ice age for us? I'm all for any improvement we can make in our stewardship of the Planet, but I'm also completely fed up with trying to see past or through all the doom-mongering around this subject too.

I have a lot of time for Elon and his thinking on climate issues which seems to have changed quite a bit on this matter with experience and hindsight. This doesn’t seem to have turned out too well in terms of triggering an actual 1st world economic crisis and the same old perceived climate crisis combined. When renewables are ready and reliable, that is the point to start incentivising people to switch or punishing those that don’t. We are still far from that point today as the market is clearly demonstrating and for example, the auto manufacturers, buyers and currently farmers are starting to amplify. We do need to move to a more sustainable future but we cannot do it in a panic-like way which causes the clear and present problems of the magnitude we see happening in civilisation today.

His promotion of a carbon tax is very disappointing. I wonder if he has changed his position on this at all? We have a carbon tax in Canada and prices have soared -- food prices are absolutely crazy. Elon needs to revisit this because it isn't working. People in rural areas depend on vehicles for transportation and farming -- the technology is simply not there, nor the infrastructure, to provide dependable machinery to do the job that isn't fossile-fuel based. All our food is trucked to the grocery stories -- high gas prices mean higher food prices. Carbon taxes to "incentivise" farmers to "uncarbon" isn't working because what are the alternatives for them? They are being dispropotionally punished for producing food for us. This is why farmers all around the world are revolting against this carbon tax stuff.

Today in 2024 , politicians, certainly in the western world are, without involving, nor even asking their public, are already planning and implementing what they appear to consider will be a good place to start to implement carbon producing reductions. By , cancelling peoples right to spend their incomes however they wish. By, cancelling the cash culture and digitising incomes and payment methods for purchases. Linked to this, already , they have planned in cancelling food supplies as we have known for two thousand years. To be simply replaced by bugs and chemicals. Im not sure if theyve planned in medical services for what a result of that might be. These bugs to be rationed by financial credits , being payments for work and goods etc you buy and sell. To buy an individual with a bank account will use credits from their account to pay for a eg, family ration of bugs and chemicals through the use if his payment chip inserted in his wrist, his account credits, debited with the payment acquired through his chip to his bank account. And so peoples purchases will be rationed and accounted by central computer, programmed to highlight over purchases etc. thereby, reducing energy waste in waste collection and disposal. People will be guided in where they go, when they go, what they do and when they do, by central computer control of their banking of credits and debits. No need to ever think again. This signals the end of the need for people to think and make things better for other humans, with design improvements etc. It surely will be cheaper and easier to continue life. And if theyre bent on controlling us, thereby dispensing with democracy, shouldnt we at least and lastly, get to vote whomsoever we trust into power and not abuse his power, like the politicians of today are. Why dont they simply sterilise two thirds of the population ? You only have to look around you today at some of the uneducated scrage ends whoare actually being allowed to breed and their offspring polluting the world around us, to know instantly the quickest, cheapest and most effective way to control carbon emmissions , is to sterilise these additions to carbon pollution.

The problem with the carbon tax idea is the Government doesn't use that extra revenue wisely. They'll spend it on all kinds of destructive things-wars, socially catastrophic things, giveaways to their big donors, etc.. IF a carbon tax was GUARANTEED to be used for good, ecological purposes I would have no problem with it. We've been lied to, too many times by our bureaucrats.

Im not sure if theyve planned in medical services for what a result of that might be. These bugs to be rationed by financial credits , being payments for work and goods etc you buy and sell. To buy an individual with a bank account will use credits from their account to pay for a eg, family ration of bugs and chemicals through the use if his payment chip inserted in his wrist, his account credits, debited with the payment acquired through his chip to his bank account. And so peoples purchases will be rationed and accounted by central computer, programmed to highlight over purchases etc. thereby, reducing energy waste in waste collection and disposal. People will be guided in where they go, when they go, what they do and when they do, by central computer control of their banking of credits and debits. No need to ever think again. This signals the end of the need for people to think and make things better for other humans, with design improvements etc. It surely will be cheaper and easier to continue life. And if theyre bent on controlling us, thereby dispensing with democracy, shouldnt we at least and lastly, get to vote whomsoever we trust into power and not abuse his power, like the politicians of today are. Why dont they simply sterilise two thirds of the population ? You only have to look around you today at some of the uneducated scrage ends whoare actually being allowed to breed and their offspring polluting the world around us, to know instantly the quickest, cheapest and most effective way to control carbon emmissions , is to sterilise these additions to carbon pollution.

The problem with the carbon tax idea is the Government doesn't use that extra revenue wisely. They'll spend it on all kinds of destructive things-wars, socially catastrophic things, giveaways to their big donors, etc.. IF a carbon tax was GUARANTEED to be used for good, ecological purposes I would have no problem with it. We've been lied to, too many times by our bureaucrats.
