Thanks! There’s a few things you can do to make Metronome work more fun. The first thing would be to make games out of it. Were you actually changing where the Metronome is clicking. Like only on two and four. Using a drum machine can help a lot as well. Playing with an actual drum groove is a lot more fun than just a clicking box. Using an app like iRealPro to make backing tracks for chord progressions, and songs you’re playing can also be a more fun way to do it. The last suggestion would be to use a looper pedal. Put on a metronome, play something with the looper pedal so that you know it’s in time, then turn off the Metronome and only play with the looper Hope some of those ideas help :-)

My probleme is.... the god damn muscle between the thumb and the index.... I don't have a probleme to make a barred chord sound ok or good, but past 30 sec or 1 min of playing barred chords, this muscle is making me suffer like crazy (even if i make minimum pressure on the strings), and i have to let go of the guitar for a moment because it's burning and it's painfull like crazy ! 1 years back into playing the guitar, and i still have this issue. I've tried every position there is with the thumb, arm etc ! Nothing works..... And it does that on the Acoustic AND the electric with 9-42 strings..... I just don't know what to do.....
@guitargympro5 күн бұрын
The first thing I would do is make sure your guitars are set up. If you take them in somewhat regularly, and somebody’s checked them out and said they’re good to go then that’s not the issue. But, a lot of times if you haven’t had your guitar set up in over a year things can start to drift and make it a little painful to play certain things. The next thing I would recommend is trying out some different instruments. Neck shapes and sizes can vary wildly and one of them might be more comfortable for you. I owned a guitar once and the shape of the neck made my left wrist hurt whenever I played a bar with my third or fourth finger. The last thing I would recommend is to try playing the chord without your thumb. Meaning you’re only using your arm weight and pressure down on the Guitar. There is zero squeezing involved if you don’t use your thumb. If that little muscle still hurts without using your thumb, the tension is coming from somewhere else. If it doesn’t, it tells you it’s a pressure issue, a neck shape issue, or something similar. Hope that helps!
@z3rod6965 күн бұрын
@@guitargympro first, thx a lot for your respond ! As far as set up goes, the electric guitar that i have didnt had a set up, but the strings are already pretty lod for me, just might need à restring, cause the original strings aren't very nice to touch ! But my 3 folk guitars had a set up, and 2 have 10-47 strings gauge, and have pretty low action too, and the necks are pretty confortable for me ! I really have no issue making a barred chord sound good, even a Fmin7 on the first fret (even tho this one is pretty brutal for the thumb 🤣🤣) but the muscle between the index and the thumb still hates barred chords somehow.... i just tried to play a A#min barred chord (the on the 1st fret of the 5th string) without the thumb, well i can make it sound ok ! When i try to change chords and put minimal pressure, but enough to make the chord sound, the top of my hand and my arm muscle start to hurt.... i guess my hand dont like barred chords 🤣😭

When I first discovered it by acident by playing a song between 110% -120% speed for a bit (I use Guitar Pro to sometimes learn songs),and admittedly verly slopply, it felt like a miracle when I could then play it quite well at 100%! haha In regard to the idea of sweet spots, I have usually found sometimes just taking a break after 5 minutes of practice and then coming back later that day or even after practicing something else for a little way in that same session, that there is some improvement when returning to what I had hit a plateau with.
