Since 1827, Norfolk Southern and its predecessor companies have safely moved the goods and materials that power the U.S. economy.
Today, we operate a customer-centric and operations-driven freight transportation network across 19,000 route miles and have the most extensive intermodal network in the eastern United States. Norfolk Southern serves a majority of the country’s population and manufacturing base, with connections to every major container port on the Atlantic coast as well as the Gulf of Mexico and Great Lakes.
Committed to furthering sustainability, we help our customers avoid 15 million tons of annual carbon emissions by shipping via rail. Our railroaders deliver more than 7 million carloads each year, from agriculture to consumer goods, and is the largest rail shipper of auto products and metals in North America.

I love 8098. My grsndpa worked at Conrail back in 94. He has cancer right now and the doctor is saying he'll die in 3 weeks. So please pray for him. Also Conrail blue is my favorite color. Conrail locomotives exist to this day. So he says Conrail sti is in business.
Running trains without derailments would be innovation…
As a retired MoE schlub I'm always gratified to see the process improve. (Once years ago when business took me to Conway they were gigging me over the radio telling the guys on the truck how jealous I was of their tools, but that's another story.) As a railroad historian I know we need to move beyond "making do" with what's left over. The Lemoyne Connection still needs to be built to save countless hours and two trips over the Susquehanna. The Culpeper Connection needs to be built to save countless ton-miles and streamline efficiency. Yes, it's expensive. We are a capital intense business. We will never get away from that. No one wants to be schlub who spends money but that is necessary to make money.
Love Norfolk southern but I'd love to see them buy a new GMC sierra hy rail truck lol
Just kidding - I'd love to see the Reading & Northern leverage NS. Would the new name be Reading & Southern??
Nice work.
NS rules. CSX blows.
LOL
Just leave CSX Alone.
frfr
After 40 years CSX has woken up and is now eating NS' lunch. NS' greatest advantage was a lethargic and dysfunctional CSX. NS will have to up their game.
@@maestromecanico597 CSX’s fleet of Heritage units are simply awful. At least NS painted the entire loco in heritage liveries as opposed to CSX who seemingly felt the need to only paint half of each unit.
Thank you for the information, you guys are the best, @norfolksoutherncorp.
Hi NS I love your railroad

Hi, @ashleyrenee4771, how are you doing today?

@@the-terrible63hello! I’m doing fine. How about you?
@@UNITEDSTATESRAILFANNING I'm doing good too, thanks for asking.
How genius
Cool.
Now can you do a video called ''how do we derail a train?''
Omw to Altoona rn, see you guys soon
Wonder does the engine have a working tolet .a frig or a big ticket item a microwave Did they leave the conductor and brakeman seats across the cab so they can stretched their legs
I will work for you one day
Wow, Casey Thomason another good example of a hard working local man
Why don’t this surprise me , railroads have got to go woke what a load shit , this shouldn’t surprise us they are worried about their carbon footprint to!
I respect Chris, seems like an upstanding guy. Though that seems to be counter to the Norfolk Southern corporate policy as they "cut its per-mile spending on train inspections by an average of 8% a year from 2017 to 2021" and have just recently announced that they will "eliminate 7% of its management and staff positions as a cost-cutting move." I would much rather have Chris working in a safe environment with enough coworkers to support him when needed rather than save a few pennies on the dollar and increase the likelihood of derailment.
surprised they left their comments enabled on this lol, their safety culture needs a ton of work
Chris seems to be the kind of railroader who is a true friend to his customers. Freight railroading isn't just a "B2B" thing. People like Chris who care, add customer value to the equation to the benefit of all.
Been a railfan my whole life and gotta say that East Palestine and NTSB make NS look like just another big corporation with no regard for the rule of law or anything except greed and profits.
Alright nice information NS!!! You guys are the best railroad and same for CSX As well!!
I can't wait to become a railroader
Yall had 50 painters and now yall have 12, if I was you I wouldn’t have posted this
Thank you chris shirley and Norfolk southern. You do great things for our company
derailment what’s your function?
Tell my father i love him
Another amazing video by NS!
In everything, we should treat others the way we want to be treated. Imagine a world where everyone did that. Little crime, no wars, etc.
Thank you for the information, you guys are the best, @norfolksoutherncorp, you too, Chris Shirley.
Northfolk Southern are rock for us ❤.

Please repaint the Penn Central Heritage Locomotive!!
Anyone showed this to BNSF yet? They seem to be allergic to fresh paint.
0:01 behind her is NS 4822
Former NS 9615
Come on BNSF, do some heritage units! You are the only class one that doesn’t have any heritage units! No, an orange unit with stickers doesn’t count! Better yet, charge your name to Santa Fe Railway and bring back the war bonnets, both red and silver and blue and yellow.
Awsome! Your Herritage locomotives are one of a kind!😊
Please make a yellow version of this loco for Pittsburgh colors
ah yes the nuke railroad
stfu this happened with CSX lol.
Very cool! Love your Heritage locomotives
I recently rewatched when you chased the 675 in here. That was super neat seeing you in an environment that was nearby. See ya on the high iron
Nice job NS, thank god they don’t look like CNs (please don’t attack me)
Thank you for the information, you guys are the best, @norfolksoutherncorp.
Nice Lol Good job NS
At least they painted the sign. It was in severe disrepair for a decade to the point you could not even read it. Otherwise the entire facility is an eyesore on the communality. Full of trash and weeds and dilapidated buildings. Nothing to be proud of here.
Pen central 1073 needs repainted
You guys are whole lot better than Csx.. y’all got more good stuff while Csx has dumb wasted potential..
Bro NS Threats their employees like trash, plus not only that NS Has a lot of derails over the years now and has the worst PSR in the world, they don't even care about it at all, plus NS Wastes their money at all, CSX is lot better tbh.
@@F59PHI2OO5Productions But at least bnsf doesn’t have to deal with PSR..
@@F59PHI2OO5Productions Csx dont care about their old engines and they just wanna leave them in storage forever while Ns has the potential to rebuild them…
Yesssirrrr very niceeee
Fascinating. I worked at the Boeing Everett plant for years and the paint hangar operations were fascinating especially the painting of the 747.
