Great segment on how ADHD affects people in a high performance/high stress role and some of the positives it brings in these roles.

I do that with my clothes, variations of the same outfit most of the time. I wear a long purple sleeveless dress, blue flats (blue mid-calf Uggs in winter), and during the cold months I wear a scarf (and leave it on all day, I know it's weird but if I wear a scarf I don't like taking it off even if my neck gets hot and uncomfortable). I can't stand sleeves except I can tolerate sleeves in a coat (but I take off the coat indoors). I also wear sunglasses all the time (indoors, outdoors, day, night), and I can't stand wearing socks so if I'm not careful my shoes and Uggs get incredibly stinky. I also do my makeup the same way everyday, wear lots of red lipstick, keep my hair the same length (shoulder-length). People think I'm always trying to dress up to impress but for me this is the most comfortable way to dress and I like dressing this way. It makes life easier when it's just time to grab another purple sleeveless dress. I thought my clothing tendencies were just a personal quirk but apparently it turns out it's an ADHD thing, not just a Victoria thing. Makes sense.

Its real enough for this. If there were suddenly no stimulants for treating adhd, life would not be worth living so a swan dive off the Taos Bridge would SURELY be better than living like a complete loser moron. Thats just my take on it at age 60.

1.5 years and I’m still hooked. But I know after the one year mark on my first relationship I was nervous all the time about what he was thinking/feeling about me. In my current relationship I’m basically totally secure. I think there’s more factors at play.

That was so impactful in the statement about positive thoughts. It’s always been a cliche saying “the power of positive thinking “ and I didn’t understand why because it seems we all have negative thinking in common, and we made it this far. Your conversation expounded my perspective that positive thinking is really listening to positive thoughts, my positive thoughts and others positive thoughts, which lead to collaboration, instead of repetitive negative narratives

Fpr laundry i literally just skip foldinv and hanging Clothes. Its just such a thankless continual task that will never be done and making it 1/3rd easier is more valuable than folding ever could be. If you really need somethibg Perfecyly wrinkle free, pop ut in the dryer with a barely damp rag for 10 minutes while you shower. But dont run yourself ragged folding every damn thing in the Dresser.

How do I know I have ADD? All those things you described plus I had my brain scanned and it shows the brain of ADD person. It’s sad so many people look down on this or don’t believe people have it. I literally feel like caring around my brain so I can show people if it ever comes up, 😂

I’m not stupid but I have never had a long attention span,I couldn’t learn things like the cash register program and appointment setting programs in the salons I worked in as fast as the other new employees. I was fired from a supermarket because I couldn’t remember all the numerous different codes and the different things ,I needed to know ! It’s so frustrating with ADHD!

"it's not an explanation, it's a description" of an ongoing process🙂 "A nominalisation is a process" was one of the first things that I learned when I once got in touch with NLP 25 years ago. So many people, and even doctors, use their diagnosis as an explanation or as an excuse for staying stuck instead of changing the process. I had to teach my doctor, when I freed myself from the symptoms of an "incurable, chronic autoimmune disease" by ignoring the prescribed medicine after it didn't work for some years, and instead by compassionately "talking" with my body. I came up with this solution after I read some buddhist book about mindful communication and using what I learned before about meditation and hypnosis. I did read "The myth of normal", and learned a lot from Mr. Gabor. And after this interview I think next I'd read the "Scattered minds" and "When the body sais no". Still so many interesting things to learn... 🙂Thanks for the inspiration!

For those that work long hours at home etc. I would recommend using a Rebounder on breaks. It’s a mini trampoline that has all kinds of benefits and helps with blood circulation. Some offer hand rails, and it’s for all skill levels.

This is exactly the reason I finally chose to go NO CONTACT with my family, after 60 years, as I will no longer allow this threat of abandonment to be used against me. It's neglect and abuse. Listening to this man is very helpful with coming to some understanding as to why they behaved in this fashion. It may not make it easier but it certainly helps to know that the issue was not mine to begin with & is not my fault.
