    @Ow3-mi5qu Thank you! I use 30 pound braids from Reaction Tackle (link in video description). Many angles will use even heavier braid than 30. If you've been successfully landing fish, it's hard to say what you're doing is wrong. That said, braided line will not stretch, and when you get a frog bite way back in the lily pads and vegetation, it can take a lot of force to get a good hook set. Monofiliment line is designed to stretch and isn't always ideal for getting a good hook set way back in the jungle.

    Doesn’t this eliminate the use of the spot lock? So you have to turn the motor to see different directions to locate fish, doesn’t that affect your boat position control?

  • @BrianGaberFishing

    @petevaughn9919 you are correct. Spot locking still works, but you can't see your target while the motor is spinning on lock.

    Its sheding sulfates into the electrolite turning the acid into water releasing electrons, there is no such thing as a 3 to 1 ratio of the solution. Thats the specific gravity of the acid depending on it's current charge. You are giving advice about chemical equations you dont fully understand. You gave somemgood advice about temperature and basics. But how do you even mauntain your 3 to 1 ratio if you don't even mention a hydrometer to measure the specific gravity of the electeolite. Hydrogen gasses off from the water and evaporates, usually only requiring adding DI-water to maintain the proper level. Recharging the battery will use the H2O with the charge equation turning it back into acid while absorbing electrons and the sulfates back into the plates.

    Enjoyed your video. I appreciate you sharing your set-up. I was just wondering why you selected the Garmin Livescope versus the Hummingbird Mega live. Was it because of the sequence you made your purchases or the delay in the release of the MegaLive? I I have a very similar set-up as you, but I went with the MegaLive due to its ability to network to all of the Hummingbird control heads at each end of my boat. Not to mention, I didn't have room for the extra control box required for the Garmin Livescope. Is the performance of the Livescope that much better than the MegaLive? Thanks.

  • @BrianGaberFishing
    @BrianGaberFishing24 күн бұрын

    Thanks. I got the Garmin for it's clarity of image. I originally had the Garmin LVS32 . At that time it was a purchase sequence thing. The mega live was out when I was deciding about upgrade. I liked the idea of the one system consistency. I was just so impressed with the quality of the lvs34. I have the Helix up front for linking with the console and for 360. I just thought the Garmin was the best for the purpose of chasing them down.

  • @djl8841
    @djl884112 күн бұрын

    Don't do that. You will only cause more off gassing. If the hydrated cells won't charge, either your charger has a low voltage cut off, or your battery is just that worn out, or you have an improper mixture of electrolyte. Could be grounded out retaining walls between the cells from warping due to excess heat. If this is the case your battery will hold weird voltages based on how many cells are within. For example a car battery holding 10vdc after a charge is a 12 plate 1v cell grouping. With 2 plates grounded, it bypasses those cells only outputting 10 volts. Do not use this battery. There are some higher end chargers that will refurbish a battery with a proper charging cycle. But, it's probably best to get new batteries and take better care of them. Best of luck.

    Hi Brian, would you recommend using a marine deep cycle battery on a newport NT300 motor?

  • @BrianGaberFishing
    @BrianGaberFishing29 күн бұрын

    You could. Those motors will go 5.5 mph and will use 23% of a 100 amp hour battery (36volt system) in an hour. The conditions (wind/waves) will affect those results. But if you have a 36 volt system and some amp hours, it should work just like the deep cycles that have powered all the trolling motors before the lithium batteries came online.

    I’m planning on adding this kit to my boat soon. Looks like you used 6AWG for everything? Have you seen any issues with this at all? I only ask because the instructions in the kit call for 4/0 AWG (120mm) cable on the switch posts and 6AWG (16mm) cable for everything else. The instructions also call for 90-100AMP fuses for the ACR to battery post connections. Have you seen any issues running the smaller fuses?

  • @BrianGaberFishing

    I've used 6AWG wire for everything and 50 amp fuses with no issues. I've got the same system set up on my 5th new boat and running great.

    Hello Brian. I'm having trouble understanding what people are actually talking about quoting target separation in relation to sounder transducers like LVS32 or LVS 34. Target separation is actually range resolution which is the ability to distinguish between targets that are close together and has absolutely nothing to do with transducers. It has everything to do with width of the sounder pulse. I'm not trying to be a "smart-ass". I'm just trying to work out what you guys are actually trying to demonstrate. It would seem that misuse of technical terminology is confusing everybody. I am a electronics engineer in Australia who plays around with sounder technology and cannot fathom what guys are talking about.. Garmin quotes "target separation" values of 22inches or 24 inches which is an absolutely terrible range resolution figure for ANY CHIRP sounder. So when guys quote a target separation figure like that, they are obviously NOT referring to the ability to differentiate between targets that are close together. Any CHIRP sounder has target separation figure approaching 2 inches or less. So what are you trying to say when using the term "target separation"? I might be able to help you work out a couple of things about sounder pulse technology AND finally work out what the problem is. regards Ron

  • @BrianGaberFishing
    @BrianGaberFishingАй бұрын

    Thanks for that thoughtful comment. You may have better scientific insight into how we are using that term "better target separation". It could be that they have improved their software's interpretation of the return. It's pretty unmistakable when I look at the returns from the LVS32 vs the LVS34. I can see the fish out to 100 feet, and I can tell if it is 1 fish or 3 fish. With the 32, you couldn't see out that far and nor tell how many. You'd just see a blob. So, the clearer image and the "separation" may be better processing of the data that's returning. I'd love to know more too. Thanks again!
