I never really appreciated how even the legendary Tywin Lannister can't help himself from a bit of pettiness here. Joffrey and Cersei are on their way out of the room and it seems like the matter is concluded, but Tywin can't resist baiting his grandson a bit more by suggesting essence of nightshade.

It was pretty clear that in this moment, Olenna or not, Joffrey wasn't going to live long. He didn't just cross Tyrion but he visibly sickened Varys and openly insulted Tywin. Everyone in the room knew how well the words about Kings dropping like flies rang true. It was just a matter of who was going to be the one to take care of him.
