I'm just an American guy who currently lives in Japan. I enjoy writing and playing blues harp, so I decided to start recording myself. I also have a website where I talk about my work, lanechasek.com.
Hey! Awesome! Thanks so much for the shoutout!💙🎼🎶🎵🎶🎵💯🙏✝️❤️!

Sounds good man I’m trying to play like you! Got any advice? I’ve only been at it a few months and I’m plateauing kinda
@lanechasek55603 ай бұрын
Try starting riffs on bent notes and see where they take you. I was in a bit of a rut because I kept starting riffs on 2 draw or 4 draw, but starting a riff on the 3 draw bend or 1 draw bend can force you to do weird things with your playing. And if you can overblow, try starting on an overblow. In addition, finding new keys of harp can inspire you greatly. Sometimes the same riff on a D harp will sound wildly different on a Db or B harp. To be honest, I’m a bit of a noob myself, but I hope this helps some.

the thing is like a brick. i bought the smaller pocket version but have to figure it out. where do i start? i have diatonics and chromatics.
@lanechasek55603 ай бұрын
It’s fairly easy to get started as it only has blow notes. Be sure to blow gently but steadily for the best tone. Sometimes articulating with the syllables “koi” or “kew” helps.

Hi! Nice song! Did you play this on the Tombo chromatic S-50? Do you know if this harmonica fits in a harmonica neck holder allowing guitarists to play harmonica hands free? Have you tried the Seydel Nonslider chromatic and do you know if it's the same note layout?
@lanechasek55604 ай бұрын
Good eye! Yeah, it’s an S-50 that I bought in Tokyo. I’ve got a holder, so I might have to try it hands-free on my keyboard soon, lol, though I worry my slider is only big enough for a diatonic. I haven’t tried Seydel’s nonslider, unfortunately, but I would really like to get one someday.

Thanks. You seem to only play the lower notes pretty much. I wonder whether bass harmonicas with only the lower notes exist.

There is a pocket version from East Top with just eight notes that’s pretty affordable. And yeah, I prefer the low notes on this bad boy, lol.

100% agree about using major scales to train the ears, breath, and oral space to get those bent notes in tune. I also like to use 3rd position (D on a C harp) for working on 2’ and 4’ and 12th position (F) for 3’’ and 3’ in sequence. Gotta come up with something similar for 3’’’ and the blow bends up high where I need lots more work
@lanechasek55607 ай бұрын
12th position, eh? That’s an interesting idea. I’ll have to use that in my practice. Really smart idea!

Hi you did a great job explaining how to bend we all know it’s not easy it requires a lot of practice as you said. Training the ear is the most important thing you can do to get it right. Thanks again for your explanation. Don’t stop posting I’ve subscribed.

Thanks! Honestly, I went with G because it sounded best to me. Plus, most sources I found online said the song is either in G or D. I might experiment with other keys, though.
