    The contact area within these tube connectors properly soldered is the key to why these work better than other connections. Say what you will, these work well. Some will be naysayers and let them rant. Performance matters in audio as it does in other things. It brings on more pleasure if you go the extra mile and do what is necessary to get all you can out of your gear.

    The only drawback that prevents me from owning the L 82's is the fact it does not have magnetic grilles.

    I helped a friend fit his receiver into a tight space. I used a rasp to widen the slot. He asked what else I used that tool for. I told him that it was just an Audio File.

    When balancing with movies and music. Less is more. Running a 4.1 system. I have never had a single soul missing out on that center channel. My Meadowlark fronts are not against the wall (thankfully) and what a fantastic experience. A lot of terrible systems I have come across is that overuse of subwoofers. My old Polk sub bit the bullet sometime in the last month and I really didn't notice until I kicked up The Fifth Element. At the beginning I noticed that something was a bit off. So had to replace it. Guess after 22 years it wasn't to bad!

    Thanks for this. I tried it as best I could in my room and seemed to work well. I'm in a big basement room where I have to have the listening space more to the right of the room due to a support pillar and window. I also can't have the couch as far back as suggested. The listening spot and the speakers kinda make an equilateral triangle which I guess isn't ideal. It was fun testing out options though and still pretty pleased with the results.

    Caladans arrived two days ago. Finally set up last night. They sounded very mediocre at best. Was sorry I bought them. This morning .....OMG...... astonishing sound. Lock the doors, somebody could steal them. I ordered them 10/30, a long time ago. They were worth every minute I waited for them. Clayton recommends at least 50 hours of burn for a good reason. I cant believe these things will still be getting better. He has crushed it.

    They do take some time to open up - those woofers really get better around the 40-50 hour mark.

    And this is why in theory, Atmos music should be the perfect means to experience music. But it doesn't usually work that way because it all comes down to the engineer's ability to EQ and pan to create that soundstage. Most engineers are using it as a gimmick and it's not great. Some engineers are using it to recreate an experience of the band being there in room. Fewer still are faithfully recreating entire performance halls for orchestra and other live performances. It all comes down to the skill and commitment of the engineer.

    AJ is a genius. Thanks for that great demo. Those SP10's sound soooo close to the source on my Elac DBR6.2's, which also go down to 30htz in my room. Me OK with no sub as I dont play loud. Saving my ears... Great video. But those 888's might fit in my studio...

    I treat my room the day before a listening session.... get that ionizer out and it gets rid of all those floating particles in the air. This way the sound waves don't get reflected off of specs of dirt in the air!!! The comment section isn't big enough to list the BS that I encountered when I embarked on getting my front loudspeakers many years ago. They are now about 22 years old and I wouldn't part with them.

    Mc doesn't 'toss in' their phono stage inputs either. LOL. It all costs the consumer good money..but they are fine pieces of electronics.

    A friendly correction. McIntosh does not "toss in the 8 band Equalizer' They definitely charge yhe consumer anout $1,000.00 for it. That is clear if, for example, you compare the cost and features of this preamp with their entry-level C49 Preamp...another fine performer IMO. Thanks!

    I am after listening demos of accuphase, yamaha, rega, luxman....whith far pricier speakers. This one sounds the most natural/normal to me, with least character of electronics. Speakers ar perfect for price but it would be certainly interesting how it would play with pricier speakers, or maybee somthing from GR

    Very interested in these speakers but I have an impedance question: I use a Sony AX 401 integrated amp from the 90’s. Its specs only rate it for 8 ohms - the Br0 8 has 8 ohms nominal but dips below 4. Would this be a problem for the Sony or would the 135 watts of power handle it fine? Thanks for the reviews and the help!

    In blind tests using a Douk Audio amp/speaker switch, my anti-Klipsch friends pick the RP 600m II vs anything they bring over. It’s almost like the Nickleback phenomenon… ppl have decided to hate Klipsch no matter what lol. If my Elacs aren’t bright enough, I just adjust the EQ on the WIIM. If the Klipsch is too bright… they must suck? lol. At least it has the potential to be fatiguing… now you can adjust it down to your tastes. That’s better than hitting the wall and still not being happy I would think. I dunno. The only fatiguing experience I’ve had when it comes to Klipsch is the instantly predictable hatred from the audio snobs because it’s a “consumer brand” or something. I have different speakers for different moods/music. Pioneer CS A700 goes with some Optonica gear I came across; Klipsch RP 7.2 for the home theater (SVS subs tho), Jamo in the work shop, speakers and budget amps all over lol. The 600’s are (for me), part of my tube amp setup… more relaxing or contemplative listening. They’re not what I’d use to “rock out” so my neighbors can jam with me lol. For that, the two JBL PartyBox 710’s in the living room work great. 😂

    Comparing older large driver speakers to these designs is not possible, as these are actually more of a bookshelf system with built in stereo subwoofers. Old mass market big woofer Loudspeakers are crossed over much higher and sometimes not crossed over at all, but the guess is, that the "speed" is from the 5" drivers covering more bass than a vintage big woofer speaker design.

  • @wattspeakers
    @wattspeakers5 күн бұрын

    I'll go out on a limb and take a guess that the Bully may have sounded more analytical due to the MTM arrangement. When done correctly that offers a very controlled polar pattern and dispersion area focused on the seated sweet spot. Again, just a guess.
