Welcome to Cammie's Garage!
A little about me: I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. Now, I live in Columbia, SC. I have been an artist and DIYer since I was a kid, helping my parents with their home improvement projects. I had a 20 year career in the animation biz as an animator, background artist and designer. Most recently, I discovered I have a passion for woodworking, especially the lathe. My channel's primary focus is wood art, with the occasional functional item, home improvement and caricature of a favourite maker.
My videos are for entertainment only. Cammie's Garage is not a how-to channel. It is a this-is-what-I-did channel. I usually make things up as I go along and do not make plans. Most of the time it works out.
I also have a sim racing channel, if you are into that. kzread.info

My dad passed away on July 9th at 72 years old. Learning to cope with the loss and not be hard on myself has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do. He loved wood working very much and left me with a bunch of tools and unfinished projects. I have decided that I am going to build him an urn. I also plan to finish his projects that he didn't get to finish. Last time I talked to him in the hospital he was excited to get home and get better so he could build things for my daughters and spend time with us this Christmas since we didn't see him much over the last 10 years. He sadly never got well enough to spend time in the workshop. We were mending a broken relationship with him. He loved Christmas time and used to dress up as Santa and hand out candy canes to people. He's deeply missed and I think building an urn for his ashes is the appropriate thing to do. My condolences to you.
Sorry to hear. My condolences.
Fanciest spatula ever!
Love your videos! It was my pleasure to contribute to your wood stash today!
Thank you, Linda.
if I wanted to carve a wooden sphere so I could make a pet litter box is that possible?
Awsome it looks like the Maui dolphin wich is endangered. Well done.
Thank you.
I'd be a little mad if I got my bowl back from the repair shop with a big contrasting racing stripe down the middle. I guess you have to do your wooden bowl repair shop homework. Can't just take 'em anywhere anymore.
😆
Very good thks
AMAZING!!
Thank you.
My dad passed away three weeks after I made this.
May your heart find healing
At the beginning you look sad
I am sad in this video.
@@CammiesGarage I’m so sorry to hear about your dad do you mind he is at peace and watching you from above
Good video. Thanks. That’s life.
Can you do one with wood planks from dollar tree and also maybe the Jenga type blocks from dollar tree in the shape of a small diamond for my small dogs ashes
Sorry to hear about your dog, Sarah. I do not have tools or a studio at the moment, so I cannot make any wood things at this time.
Gorgeous work. I love the attention to detail on this carving. I am impressed.
Thank you.
Yikes! The stingrays looked great. Pity the epoxy went sideways on you. I appreciate your sharing your failures, painful tho it may be--it can save others from going down that same path!
I eventually had a few successes with epoxy, but I think I'll stick to mostly wood for a while.
@@CammiesGarage I've worked with epoxy once, was super-cautious with it, and came out the other side unscathed. I'm in no rush to press my luck a second time! 😅
Wonderful ❤
Thank you. The client was very satisfied.
Stunning, beautiful
Thank you.

You're very patient
This is really really nice. What were the tools you used and the finish you rubbed on it?
I use Saburrtooth carving burrs. The finish is spray lacquer.
A garage does not make the shop, the maker makes the shop. You can work out of a closet or a rented space, but you'll always be a great maker. I'm disappointed I only recently discovered you. I hope you find a good space for your future projects and look forward to what that may be. Just please, don't stop creating.
Thank you! A new studio space is currently in the works.
How Santa made lightsaber toys back in the day
Beautiful job.. Dad is proud that’s for sure. What an awesome tribute :) thanks for share
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What internal diameter did you go with ?
I never measured them, and they were all slightly different.
great work!!! buen trabajo!!!
Thank you.
I like your video. I think I am going to make a bigger spoon since everyone loves the spoons that I make. I do like the burned look. I think it gives it character. Keep up the good work.
Best wishes.
You can sand the whole braclet on the lathe if you use cole jaws.
Great idea!
Love your stuff. Wondering how you sell your art. I’m about to “go public” with my stuff and was wondering what the most successful approach is. Thanks.
Thank you. Getting gallery representation is probably the best way to sell your work.
very nice work
Thank you.
I like your work. Don't worry about the damage. The work was fantastic
Thank you very much!

What’s the name of these tools he’s using?

This might be the most spectacular platter I've ever seen.

Great job man! Thank you for the inspiration. And where can I get one of those carving wheels with the holes in it and what do they cost. Rounded figure. Pun intended.😊
Thank you. I use Saburrtooth carving burrs from www.saburrtooth.com. Use CAM10 at checkout for 10% off.
Thank you for responding
I am so glad to finally see at least one sane guy,WEARING A MASK WHILE GLUING,
Just curious: Is the wood you use seasoned or unseasoned, and does it matter which kind you use?
When it comes to making spoons and simple things of that nature, it does not really matter. Green/wet wood is easier to carve, but can sometimes make more of a mess because of the excess moisture.
