    Im disliking this video because the title was click baity and misleading. The title says AVOID MOVING TO SC but in the video she says SC is great and is not discouraging people from moving here. Also, the ten reasons where also extremely obvious generic and obvious like it's hot or there's hurricanes.

    I grew up here. It gets over 100 degrees??? Duh!!!! It’s hot. Always has been always will be. It floods, it’s well below sea level. If you buy a home you might need flood insurance if you can get it. This is all elementary science and geography 101. BTW a CL 100 is mandatory if you are getting a loan.

    The "CHARM" quotient has all but totally DISAPPEARED here. It's more like a hustling and bustling perpetual city wide construction project which also encompasses all surrounding areas. Can you say the word TRAFFIC??????? There are no "good times" to leave your house to avoid it, so don't get any ideas in your head along those lines either. P.S. The ocean temperature in the summer here maintains a steady 85 degrees or more.

    I disagree... the vast majority of homeowners in America have a low interest rate and a ton of equity. Plus 40% of homeowners don't even have a mortgage. Loan underwriters are stricter than ever with qualifying buyers. Markets only crash when homeowners can't wait out a potential rough patch, and given homeowners strong hands overall, it is incredibly unlikely a crash will happen without something completely unforeseen happening. A crash is different than a readjustment, which is what I would say we are currently in.

    I have been here 10 years. I wish my husband woukd have told me about the traffic. I have never lived in a city of this size and population that only has ONE HIGHWAY! I understand one of the reasons is because it's on a peninsula. And for Charleston to be such a huge tourist destination, shopping and entertainment sucks here. No real mall. No zoo, waterpark, or amusement park. Music artist don't come here for concerts. And when they do, it's a week night. Parking downtown and at the beaches is the worst. But being just a few hours from ATL, Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, Jacksonville, Orlando and Savannah means that zoos, shopping, concerts, and such are not too far away.

  • @LifeinCharlestonSouthCarolina
    @LifeinCharlestonSouthCarolina12 күн бұрын

    Well, technically we have 3 "highways" - 26, 526, and 17. But yes, they all get busy! The Mt Pleasant Town Centre and the Tanger Outlets in North Charleston are the best outdoor malls. The indoor malls are half empty given the decline of in-person retail shopping vs. online. There are some small county waterparks for the kids and Magnolia Gardens has a petting zoo. I think we get a lot of great concerts here personally with some big names! I've never had a problem parking downtown in the garages. I agree that beach parking can be bad at high times. Thanks for watching!

    Try LA for a few years and then you'll feel like you're living in the country here. Traffic is mild compared and the downtown here is an actual walkable Europeanish downtown... meaning it's a real downtown like towns all over were before the1970's, until Walmart decimated them in most places. One of the few great downtowns in America... that's why it's always rated top place to visit. Take that away and there is still a beach. Take that away and there's still no blizzards. Regarding traffic again... I routinely drive 50-100 miles a day in zero traffic. Just don't go from the inner part to the outer parts like Summerville at 4:30pm. If you are going from the outer parts like Summerville to the inner parts including Mt Pleasant/West Ashley at that time there is really no traffic to speak of. I do it pretty much every day. Anyone crying traffic has to be from the sticks. They've definitely never lived where there is MAJOR traffic. They also must be getting on the exact wrong road at the exact wrong time. I can drive from Mt Pleasant to downtown and back multiple times a day with zero traffic basically ever.

    COULD YOU TELL US IF THERE ARE CDD FEES ON TOP OF THE HOA FESS AND WHICH ONES ARE THOSE ALONG WITH THEIR CURRENT PRICES OR COSTS.....

  • @LifeinCharlestonSouthCarolina
    @LifeinCharlestonSouthCarolinaАй бұрын

    We don't have CDD fees (or at least, don't call them that). There are usually 2 HOAs in these communities, one for the neighborhood and one for the master-planned community. There is usually a Captal Contribution fee paid one-time at closing that goes into a special fund, as well as transfer fees. There are also tax assessments in some districts vs. others, but it's paid as part of your property taxes.

    I’ve lived in Summerville for 30 years. It’s a shadow of its former self. WAY too much traffic and congestion. Every time I turn around there’s another 30 acres of forest clear cut for another ugly monster apartment complex or overpriced housing development. The roads and schools can’t keep up with the unregulated growth. They’ll fine homeowners $5,000 for cutting down a tree… yet developers wipe out 100’s of acres of trees for another car wash, Dollar General, or storage facility.
