  He is apparently attracted to the fat content in the soap. It is not scented so it's a basic soap. However, I do realize he should probably not get much of it. I have only allowed him a few bites ever and keep it out of reach now.

  I wonder if it's made with some sort of less processed vegetable or animal fat. The lye or whatever is the cleaning agent certainly can't taste good

  It's probably made with fats and lemon oils. Fragrant the same way as food.

  I think he may be a Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus). His fur is a brown/gray color.

  @@MyCritterGarden56 The color of the fur doesn't indicate the actual species. The big ears and quite pointy head looks more like a black rat than a brown rat. :) Is he adult? Young rats are more slender and have bigger ears. If he is by now fully grown than its quite easy to distinquish. He does look young in the video, thats why im curious what he might be as black rats are quite rare, at least in europe. :D

  @@myhnae Hmmmm... then I guess I'm not sure what he is! Haha! We live in Hawaii where we usually have either black rats or Norway rats. He is now about 7 months old

  Body shape and prehensile tail indicates rattus rattus. Also pointy snout and extra cute beady eyes.
