    We have one that popped up last year at the edge of our chicken coop. A seed was probably dropped by a passing bird. I’ve never seen one anywhere until it showed up last year. We left it to see what it would do. It died clear back to nothing and completely disappeared in the winter like it was never there, but it came back up this year and is almost 20 feet tall and probably half as wide, but it didn’t flower when it came back this spring. We’re going to leave it and see what it ends up doing and if we ever get blooms. But we’re keeping a good eye on it because it has grown incredibly fast and we can see just how problematic if we just ignore it and let it do its thing. We’re in Oregon and live on farmland with the best soil you can imagine so it’s had no trouble surviving.

    So wish I’d watched these before planting mine! I just bought 2 beautiful trees from a private garden, (they are quite large), and I may have overwatered them. Some of the leaves have gone brown. Shall I repot it in compost with feed mixed in with grit?

    New subscriber here and i was brought to your channel to learn about growing olive trees. Specifically, growing them in northeast Louisiana. I know that you get slightly cooler temperatures than I get where I'm at but I'm sure you get roughly similar rainfall. So, with all of that being said, thank you for your videos, good sir!!

    Its terrible what people are doing to moles - catching and killing them. I'm watching this to learn about them, to help me try and protect the ones that come into my garden. Great video and very refreshing to find that you are also not concerned about a bit of top soil on the grass and feel privileged to have them around <3

    The army has a term: Economy of Effort. You were doing a lot of hand mixing which I know is tiresome. For anyone doing these projects or enthusiastic DIY, a small cement mixer is worth its weight in gold and saves a lot of fatigue. Also, I personally tend to over engineer and would have used a slurry mix on the underside of each slab. Slurry mix is easy to make just pour a little SBR bonding agent in a bucket and add some cement and mix into a paste, and will guarantee a good cement slab bond especially I’d the underside of the slab is a little dusty. Anyway, great job on your patio project.

  • @MarksHouseandGardenUK

    Thanks for this. I learned about slurry mix after the event and will definitely do it next time. You're right about the mixer. But I did save a few quid at least. Thanks again. Mark

    @MarksHouseandGardenUK Dandenong Ranges, out of Melbourne. They grow quite prolifically. There's a vintage steam railway named Puffing Billy, which winds its way through magnificent groves of tree fern. Actually, and when I was much younger, mum and dad would take us out the bush and we'd sometimes come home with one or two 😔. In fact the saw millers and loggers would clear fell areas and bull doze the tree ferns out of the way.

  • @MissNatya286
    @MissNatya2864 күн бұрын

    @@MarksHouseandGardenUK I take stem cuttings in summer. Let them callous for an hour or so, then pop them in a tall water container. Roots normally appear in 2, 3 weeks and then when baby leaves pop up I normally plant in airy, good drainage soil. Maybe even pop a bag on top if the environment is too hot and not humid enough. But I know most begonia can be rooted either way so yours will probably root just as well 😊
