Genuinely moving stuff. I knew almost nothing about the guy, but he seems like a deeply sensitive and vulnerable man who experienced some massive highs but couldn't escape the downs.

I played Jocky Wilson Darts on my Commodore 64. All the opponents were called by their first initial followed by their surname (J. Wilson, for instance), so I always called myself P. Nis because I was like 10 at the time.

I grew up watching legends like Jocky on TV and both he and John Lowe were favourite players, especially when either of them played and beat Eric Bristow. I really wish I could have met Jockey at least once to shake his hand. Rest in Heaven Jockey and if you see Eric up there, kick his arse up and down the Oche a few more times for me, champ. P.s. Great to see Rab Smith in this video too, he was another great player and sadly not enough match videos of him from the TV matches before he retired from professional tournaments in '83.

I have watched this film a few times. I had never taken any notice of the number of views or who had made it. It clearly appeared on my suggested playlist, and it queued up and then played. I suppose.. . I had always presumed it was made by some avant-garde, Ken Loach, famous type. Every time I hear someone refer to Kirkcaldy... I hear it in your voice.. I was listening to Billy Connolly today and he referred to Kirkcaldy, as he might. It reminded me of this documentary, I looked it up thinking I might find it on BBC or something. and it led me to here. Well done. lewstone1934 the other commenter is correct

I went to turn professional not long after my 16th birthday around 1986. I remember 4 or 5 men approach myself and my dad practicing in the Boars Head In Auchtermuchty late 1984 when I was 14. They asked my dad if possible to speak with both us outside. It turns out they were directors with Argos’ and one of the area managers from Argos was from Muchty and he had been telling them how good I’ was. Well they asked my dad if they could sponsor me. Obviously aware I couldn’t turn pro until I was 16. They knew I couldn’t accept money either as an amateur however they did give me £50 a week and £100 when I played weekly for the pub. I unfortunately got dartitis tho and that was the end before it began. Absolutely gutted. I had well over 50 10 dart finishes and 2. 10 dart finishes when I was 14. When I was 14 2 weeks on the trot I checked ouut 153 playing for the pub in the league. Absolutely gutted about the dartitis. Didn’t know what was wrong with me until Bristow got it in 1993 and there was finally a name given to it
