I think this is 'When I'm Gone' but from a better place. In that song you could hear his regrets at being on tour and missing out on time with Hailie, going after Kim on his tracks, feeling like he'd been absent, and committing to being a better father by killing shady. And now in this song he sounds satisfied, knowing he's being the father he always meant and wanted to be, present and supportive, and letting Hailie know that it's ok to move on and that he'll always be looking after her.
Maybe I feel as if it’s more Mockingbird part two because he says what did daddy always tell you straighten up soldier which crying about you got me and then temporary says what did I tell you straight up little soldier Plus all of the Haley audio and both songs from when she was a kid makes me lean that way. Nothing humble about Ren, nor should there be, he’s got more than a clear understanding of how talented he is. If you doubt this just listen to his lyrics. What he doesn’t do however is flaunt his ability, he just knows how good he is so he doesn’t need to. Having said all that the two magic parts of this track are the beat and the mix. I’m obsessed with it.
