Homegrown Hillary

Homegrown Hillary

I’m a wife to one and mom to three, and I really, *really* like saving money.

Homegrown Hillary is the only place I dish about everything frugal living. But you might have also seen me giving money tips other places around the web, like US News & World Report, Yahoo Finance, Refinery29, Parents Magazine, and Better Homes & Gardens.

I've started taking a head of garlic, removing the paper, and trimming the bottom so it sits upright. Then put a tiny amount of oil on top and roast. I think it give a richer flavor while taking the edge off the sharpness. Then I just take a clove of it and squeeze it out when I need to use. A little disgusting maybe, to some, but oddly satisfying.

Just wanted to point out on the list at 0:44, she has listed a yearly cell phone budget of nearly $1,200! My partner and I keep ours under $300 per year with Tello's 1GB + unlimited talk/text plan, using the data rollover hack: Manually pay your bill a day or two before it's due and your data rolls over indefinitely, so you can save your GB's for a month you may need extra.

I know a lot of people are talking about. How are they going to eat now and I just didn’t realize how many people eat processed food. I don’t eat it because I’ve always been poor and processed. Food is the most expensive thing compared to weight and health and you have to stay healthy so you have to look at what you can get and eating anything that’s been premade for you is expensive and disgusting and not good for you.

3:00 My mom rarely if ever bought the Easter egg dying kits growing up. She just used regular old food dyes and a white crayon for making designs and my memory was it worked great!

You won’t regret spending more time with your kids. I’m 53. My kids are 25 and 22. The one thing that weighs me down the most is regretting not being more present with them while they were young. I’m thankful as a teacher I had summers to be physically present. However, my summers were still spent on teaching activities. I planned, prepped, and trained. I really did NOT take three months off. I regret it so much.

Also maybe have a different format to your videos. I have seen ytbers that only put their camera in front of them and talk, they don’t edit anything. And people like it too.

You always have good informative advice that we can use. Unlike many other creators some can't afford the content break (days off) due to it being their source of income. However, I'm glad that you have a supportive husband, which most don't these days. It gives you the time needed to focus on your small children being a parent is not easy! Your children will be so proud of you that you just didn't focus on MONEY....🥰 it is a tool that we all need. However, it could never replace the TIME SPENT with the ones you wholeheartedly LOVE....Take as much time as you need and don't worry about KZread...thanks for informing us🤗

It’s great to hear a woman putting family first. You’re an inspiration on frugality and how you are as a mom putting your family first. Looking forward to more videos on your timeline that works for your family! FYI - this is the first comment I’ve ever posted on a video ever, and your channel is either the first or of the first two (I can’t remember because it was so long ago) I’ve ever subscribed to.

Adore you so much! I really think I should start a channel myself but I don’t want to be tied down to it..I don’t want to think about it everyday like most people do..I love my freedom if not being stressed about what I should do for the next video…right now it’s crunch time to get the garden in..taking in all that nature has to offer..You having little munckins is more important then anything when your not stressing financially..enjoy them and yourself it goes by very quickly.

My hubby also had a channel for six months. He never struggled with the “thinking about it all the time,” but it definitely takes a decent chunk of your free time and feeling “tied to the schedule” is pretty inherent. That said, it’s one of the most rewarding things ever, and the skill-building is insane, haha.

You made a good decision. Don't feel like you have to be filming your family doing stuff. You can just sit in the couch and tell us what you did that month without any extra filming. That would be just as good. We totally understand. It would make editing so much faster.
