A few observations lol... I have both of these as well. I love them both for ver7y different reasons. Both are great at what they do. To answer a question or two... THe side buttons... they are placed there for a reason, one being knowledge in dark situations of where the shortcuts are. If they were on the front you would just be more cluttered and you would have to keep looking away from your work area to find that darn button.... Another is the speaker, you mentioned you wanted it to be on the side if not front. Well it is too big for one and if it was on the sides.... friend you already were complaining about side things and water intrusion.... so???? That speaker is very loud if you want it to be. Placing on the sides or front would make it have to be much smaller and to get a loudness out of that you would need smaller speakers with much more power.... there goes battery life.... I think my Manticore is the Cadillac or ferari while the 540 is just a great work horse. Both have their place and I had to save for a year to get the Manticore so I get the cost... If you can... get one guys n gals, if you cannot... that 540 is also an amazing machine that will find you amazing things.... IT has good software where Manticore with the update is just amazing.... Add in the coils they make for it and you have an amazing unit that is the best on the planet right now..... Other than that lol... Love the channel....

I have an LG Classic which I bought around '96-'97 no problems, however I have roughly 30yrs of experience in the fire service - on ladders up to 110' , and was certified by the state of Fl. and Orange County as an instructor. There are several whom posted immediately below me that address your incident and to their statements I'll add; your climbing was pretty good (especially after your fall) right up to the point at which you leaned forward, then there are numerous errors. You should have at least three rungs above your roof contact point, they serve as a point for you to have a safe control when you depart the ladder. No water, or other substances which could cause you to slip. I saw that you added a stop point (2x4) at the base to stop slippage, but that is not the best thing to do; we have a function referred to as a "butt-man" whose sole function is to stand on the inner aspect of the ladder, between the ground contact and the building holding the ladder while it is being climbed (though I doubt this would have helped you in your demonstrated maneuver, as your weight and leverage would have probably given the same results. I'm sorry for your incident. Many people work around equipment without appreciating the total scope (and I didn't cover all of that here); I've seen death from falling 8' at a construction site, slip and fall in a shower, we even had a firefighter fall 30' during training and it was determined it was due to the slick bottom boots which were worn. I wish you the best of luck and hope your recovery goes well. The fall may have occurred even with a straight ladder but it would have been much less likely; and those straight ladders are far less versatile.

36:52 .. IDK if this has been gone over so apologies if I am repeating the obvious :) When both tires spin you're supposed to lightly apply the breaks with your left foot while accelerating. this will lock up the Truetrac. My truck has handbrake on the dash so I just put it on a bit with my right hand while accelerating a bit.

  • @mowerdog

If one wheel is spinning you then tap the brakes and both wheels pull. I found that this is not needed as much as you think. Really I never had to do it. I think in rare cases you would need this.

Building the ramp out about 12-16" to hold pressure washing surface cleaners and a sign. The gate will only have to drop down 90° but there's going to be double the weight.

  • @mowerdog

Just read the safety literature. Nothing is said about leaning on the top. #19 under the leaning ladder set-up says to extend the ladder 1 meter above the ladders' landing point if you're using it to get to a higher area. This is what I did. If you find something different about the Little Giant, please point me to it.
