Golden thanks and probably last of the 5 amber trees ever recorded, US went 3 amber in '84 for visibility out of the ever sleeker floppers...
Brett the drug dealer pill presser stand over man on his own men. What a way to end his fame he lost everything. I got to see him a few time's at the Nat's in Canberra at his Peak
Watch the car in the LEFT lane!!!
I never seen V8 Supercar Drag Racing before
In 2007 I thought Phil Lamattina's crash would never happen again but it did
Brings back so many great memories.👍
It’s a Mopar baby
Brett Stevens - absolute knob-jockey!
0:20 guy at the booth face 🤣🤣
Those were the great days of "fog the track in" burnouts !! Now, it's little tiny "wisp of smoke" burnouts. So boring. Modern Fuel Funny cars here in the states are so BORING !
Jim is one of my relatives. This scared the hell out of me. Im glad he is still ticking.
I remember watching them at Willowbank - crowd loved both of them :)
so do i (gold club member)
I got my gold pass signed by bob Jane as a 9 year old. He use to sit at top of hill in his Winnebago with his misses and watch
@@danr919 Bob used to live just behind the race track (Holden drive) his family still owns his house
when calder was good
I worked on the track crew for 18yrs and when you tell people about the crash they have problems believing he went over the concrete wall, but when you explain there was no Concrete only 2 lines of Armco fencing they then look astounded. Safety in drag racing around the world has come a long way to the level it is today.
As a young lad growing up in Western Sydney, going to the drags and watching legends like Victor Bray, is a part of my childhood memories I'll never forget. 🤩
2 of the smartest guys to race in the finals Great video, thanks for the upload
What ever happened to Racheal Splatt
1:16:18 the reason why they shut it off
1:16:20 there's the evidence
58:26 9.85 would have been a breakout but a red light in the other lane
Seen this happen then watched him walking away like nothing happened.
0:40 ch9's annual winter sport wild winter weekend is looming large
I was there at Calder when Graeme ran he ran his first 4 second pass. I was also there the day he rolled the car at Calder too.
Back when Calder Park was running REAL drag racing!
Correct not what they are doing now
🍻 I was there that day on the hill.💪🏻 Your the man Jim , dam legend 🇦🇺💨
Reminds me of being a kid , track side a Willowbank. Les and Victor are legends to me and old zapps too.🍻🇦🇺💨
id remeber reading about this in my old dragster Aus magazines thiswas what i had readon this was a in a article on thiswas in my drag racing mags as i really remember thiswas really well as thiswas really a nasty clutch eplosions thiswas i read on this in many car mags of the time thiswssas really a bad clutch eplosions thiswas lucky he get out unsathed thiswas really a big but horrendous being a rear engine dragster he survicied thiswas in the day before the safety matter on the clutch safety was not a priority at the time when this first ever happened thiswas my views on thee day it happened thiswas a really a wake up call on the sport to sort out the clutch scattershields and related safety matters on these drag cars as now they are gotten faster these days so clutch safety was a very much in the minds of the crew chiefs in these days on these cars
Hi there just wondering if you have any footage of 1997 nationals at Calder park? Looking for supergas finaos race as my dad won the nationals that year. Thanks
They just don't make them strong enough. If they were designed by Colin Chapman, they would not fall apart till AFTER the finish line.
He was fortunate car struck pole behind driver's compartment. Either way, this is why I never complained about waiting in line at pre-race tech inspection. Or for the thoroughness of an N.H.R.A. official.
Loved watching them two at Willowbank ❤
The oracle
Back half was determined to pass the front half. We saw how that ended for Daryll Gwynne at Santa Pod. Glad this guy was okay.
This is just HORRIFIC….. Jesus H……

Man the track is so far away from the spectators as compared with some of the tracks in the states. Bum luck that dude is having . Having 2 different chassis snap in half within 8 years sucks. That first one threw him up pretty dam high too 😳
Good old days iam trying to find footage of my father Eddie Taylor use to drag rise Honda 750 supercharged running on methanol but later also had a Kawasaki 1100 bored out to 14 edlawson replica black with all the strips😂😮

The most humble bloke in drag racing I’ve ever met, wish he’d make a return
We were helping Dave and Keith on OZ nitro as our TF team didn't make the trip south that year, What a crazy night that ended up being, we got Darren's car back to the pits after the crash to get it running again putting the body together with coke cans and rivets, diff bent and exhaust headers were crushed or non existent, but the team got it to the start line for the final all it had to do was start and roll into stage and he got either runner up or won it can't remember but it was a slog. I think just about every team in the paddock helped the carters out that night as they just were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Good ol days best time of my life back then.
