QuickEZ

Hey everyone!
I'm just a guy who loves helping others understand the technology that they own already, or are considering for purchase.

The overarching goal here is to provide the quickest and easiest tutorial and step-through videos possible.
To help those that need clear and concise instructions to get their audio, video, and network tools working right away.
I work as hard as possible to explain technically complicated workflows or concepts in the most basic terms I can so you don't have to spend days/months/years training to get your gear working NOW.
Part of this includes cutting out long-winded tangents that stray away from the true function of the video, or talking about side-quests into other capabilities.
I do my best to ONLY mention required steps to get you to the end result.

Thanks in advance for watching, and I hope to help make your journey through tech, Quick & EZ!

    @quickEZ I read in the last few years that access to the EQ settings via the tablet app were no longer working because it was outdated. Do you know if the apps have been updated so that tablets can access all of the features of these Behringer x air mixers?

    Hi, The original beginner app had issues just over a year ago because they hadn’t kept up with the iOS changes. It caused a huge issue for months. But it has since been rectified. There is a new app in beta called MX-Mix. That will eventually replace the Xair edit app. However, the Xair edit app is fully functional!! You can see the new MX Mix app on the App Store. But it is not a complete app yet. Don’t try to use it for live mixing. It’s only available so that people can test it for bugs at the moment.

    I haven’t tried it with FL myself. But you can definitely make a connection to a phone or a tablet with the correct adapter. And if FL has mackie or HUI midi support built into it then you should be able to make it work. If I get the chance I’ll see if I can test this out.

    Maybe one firrmware update for the huge noise or muddy sound for any external audio source input ( dj console, players, etc ) . This mixer has a huge noise at any AUX or MASTER out compare to a RCF M18 for example. I have both. Also there is a strange "stereo image" compare to other digital mixers. When you make a Stereo LINK and hear the sound you can find that the stereo image its somehow without a bit more presence. Like too much spatial sound and too far away. The GUI its fantastic, network and wireless superb ! Also, this mixer came without fan cooler. YOu have to fix it by yourself. There is a special place for that ( funny ) . Ok, this idea was for noiseless but.....in live enviroment this "no fan cooler" its a big issue. I will do the new firmware update, hoping to find maybe more other good things ( not just what I saw in this video ).

    Why would it be allowed for users to still send back FX to itself and cause a loop? Is there a use case where its needed?

  • @QuickEZ
    @QuickEZ10 күн бұрын

    The only use case that comes immediately to mind is for creating something distinct for creative reasons. Like escalating feedback for some kind of sound field. But this is something most people aren’t ever going to need. So honestly, no. There’s no practical use case in a non-professional mixer. That said, this is a side-effect of how most consoles operate. You have to bring your effect back to the console surface for mixing so in most situations the ability to create a feedback loop exists purely as a result of how the system functions. I do think however, that the nature of this mixer, being a non-professional piece of equipment, Behringer could have done something to make it more difficult to accidentally land on this side-effect. I’ve seen so many people make this mistake with these mixers as soon as they get signal going. But, that’s why I mention it in this and other XR videos on this channel. Thanks for watching!

  • @AKSKMY
    @AKSKMY10 күн бұрын

    @@QuickEZ Oh haha this considered non-professional? But yeah can easily get confused why the FX out is down and once you push the wrong ones up in sends on fader mode that's it. One thing I noticed is on Yamaha's they allow turning off individual sends on fader sends whereas here the mute is universal for inputs and sends.

  • @QuickEZ
    @QuickEZ28 күн бұрын

    Hi Marcus, I'm sorry you're having issues. If you followed the tutorial step-by-step you should be good to go. That being said, Please check that your bit-depth and sample rate in your Logic session are matching with your mixer settings. Also, I've encountered a few people who had to do the following: Open your system settings on your Mac click on PRIVACY & SECURITY click on MICROHPONE make sure that Logic has been granted access to use your microphone. The UI24 becomes a "microphone" when connected to your system so if Logic doesn't have access, it could potentially stop you from getting signal. Let me know if this solved your issue. If it doesn't, please try another USB cable. This is often the problem. There is no guarantee this is your problem but it is a common one. If you can try another available cable before buying a new one, I recommend that before spending money.

    Ahhhh gotcha. This is actually an issue that is common with some other equipment. Specifically the Blackmagic ATEM mini ISO line of video switchers. They have a very specific requirement for write speed and cache especially when maxing out the record capabilities. And they have a list of specific drives that will work for their ISO line. People are constantly picking up drives that appear to meet that write-speed requirement, but in actuality, the drives are too slow when maxing out the channels and are not on the approved list. It's a question EVERY.SINGLE.DAY in the ATEM forums. Lots of folks are using SSD drives instead of thumb drives with the UI24, connecting them with a powered usb-hub and having very good success that way. I believe the Samsung T7's are a common SSD for this purpose, but don't quote me on that yet. I'd have to dive back into some forum conversations to guarantee thats what folks have been using. Let me know if you're interested in going that route and I'll see what I can find for you.

  • @JoeBaermann
    @JoeBaermannАй бұрын

    @@QuickEZ I was actually thinking to use an SSD, since I know they are fast enough for much more than those few tracks, I’m pretty much on pair in which disks and casing (controller) to use, thanks though. Read/Write on my USB sticks should do, they don’t go much faster, but I kinda suspected that USB sticks might run into issues, the work for 20 tracks at 16bit though. Btw. you can use all available space supported by FAT32, but I guess you already know. I used Rufus to quickly format my sticks.

    Are the aux outputs mono? Is is possible to output stereo to a headphone amp for IEMs?

  • @QuickEZ
    @QuickEZАй бұрын

    Hi Kenneth, Yes you can do that. If you look in your patching screen under HW OUTS and you will see: H1 L H1 R H2 L H2 R just patch your signal to whichever headphone outputs you want. You can send you virtual auxes 9/10 to a headphone output if you’ve used up your other auxes already. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!

  • @Pyuras
    @PyurasАй бұрын

    Most outputs in mixers in general are mono, unless otherwise noted (like phone outputs). If you want stereo output from auxes to a (separate) headphone amp, you'll need to use two auxes and stereo link them in the sofware so they output a stereo signal (one aux is L and the other is R). The stereo link step is really important, otherwise you'll just get dual mono from those auxes. To link auxes in stereo on the Ui24R you hold click on the aux output name in the mix or aux sends view and select "stereo link". Note that you can only link odd (L) + even (R) outputs. i.e.: aux 1 + aux 2, aux 3 + aux 4, aux 5 + aux 6, etc. You can't link aux 2 + aux 3 in stereo, for example.

  • @QuickEZ
    @QuickEZАй бұрын

    Hi, It depends what you're trying to do. If all you want is a copy of your full "LIVE" mix, then you just need to record the main L/R into your daw. This will already have any FX you are using, in the mix. Your main L/R shows up on the first two USB sends by default, so you just have to set your DAW to record inputs 1 and 2. If you want independent channel and FX you can do a couple of workarounds. 1. send all your independent channels to your DAW and then send a copy of ONLY your FX to two of your Auxes. for example Aux 7 and Aux 8. Each Aux shows up automatically in your USB sends on channels 3 through 10 and you just need to tell your DAW to record whichever channel you want. This gives you all your instruments and your FX to mix together in your DAW. This is not a perfect method as you may have more than 1 FX mixed together on those auxes if you only have 1 or 2 auxes free. However, if you have additional auxes available, then you could send a single FX on each available Aux so you have control. For example: FX 1 goes to Aux 5 FX 2 goes to Aux 6 FX 3 goes to Aux 7 FX4 goes to Aux 8 2. Send all your independent channels to your DAW and then record a copy of your full L/R mix to your DAW as well. Again, this is not a perfect solution but it would give you your full "Live now" mix AND your independent channels. I hope this helps. thanks for watching and happy mixing!

    I sure can!! It’ll take a week for sure. Possibly two weeks. I’m away from home this weekend and don’t have any gear with me. But I’ll get them done, step-by-step. I’ve been meaning to do this exact topic AND some step-by-step cascade videos for the 24. And if you need them, guaranteed there are others looking for the same thing. Thanks for the suggestion and stand by for the videos…

    The issue I’m having is that the x16 is not showing up as an option on the Mac in any of those spots

    Hi, The XR 16 cannot be used as an audio interface with your computer. Only the 18 has that capability. Sorry, I know that’s not the answer you were looking for. Thanks for watching!

    Hi, thank you very much for the video's on how to connect xtouch to mixing station on a windows PC over a network. After an intensive week of messing around with router settings, rtpmidi and mixing station, I finally got my 33 fader M32c setup working correctly: 3 extenders and 1 xtouch. It looks impressive, but not something I will take on the road. I will stick to the usb solution with one extender and the xtouch for gigs 🥴

    I just did this in my X18 and it worked! I lost all sound coming from it last week during a live gig, no sound either from main outputs or the buses. So I decided to open it before taking it to repair, and the cable wasn’t disconnected at all, but after unplugging it and cleaning the whole thing it is working again!

    Well, not exactly what I was hoping to fix for everyone when I made the video…but if it at least helped you know what to disconnect and clean then I’ll call that a win! Glad you’re up and running. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!

    It worked!! Can't believe it. The Right Main out was giving me really low distorted signal on my X Air 18. I opened it up. Made sure all the ribbons were firmly in and it works again! Can't thank you enough for this video! Big Band of Boom thanks you!!

    How about effects? How do I achieve an effect on my bus that’s distant bring the main output?

  • @QuickEZ
    @QuickEZАй бұрын

    Hi, If I understand your question correctly. You want to send an effect to your bus that is different from what is going to your main bus. You can watch this video, and read my explanation below. HOW TO SEND YOUR FX TO YOUR MONITOR MIXES - BEHRINGER XR kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKWCt8GAcqinmbA.html Choose a different effect slot. Send your instrument or microphone to that effect and make the adjustments you want. Then choose your aux that you want, and send the fx return fader to that bus. You will need to send that effect to your bus Pre-fader. To avoid sending it to your main as well. I hope that helps minutes not clear, please let me know. Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
