Printed Toys

Printed Toys

We design technical toys for children, printable on home 3D printers.

We know how difficult it is to find good technical toys for children, so we decided to start designing them ourselves. We put a lot of work into developing good and durable toys that children will enjoy.

    Hi. I’m a big fan of your project! I also tried to make small 3d printed locomotive, but it looks very primitive. Your models looks great! I also developed a pcb based on ESP32 chip which has wi-fi and can be connected to a motor. I’d like to share it with you. Are you in Poland, right?

  • @PrintedToys

    Hi! Yes, I'm from Poland. I'm glad you like my projects. I put a lot of work into it. As for the chip - for now I'm building all the toys with free play for 6-10 year olds in mind. I didn't want to use electronics or motors, I'm just focusing on simple hand play (it's a bit of a return to traditional toys from years ago). For now I see that this philosophy works quite well. But of course I don't rule out using electronic control - for now I'm designing models with free spaces so that in the future I can mount motors, electronics and batteries there.

    @PrintedToys2 ай бұрын

    Thank you! :) The model was designed for my own toy track system (actually, I didn't plan the tracks at all initially), so I didn't worry about the gauge. As @jezu1988 writes, you need to scale the model. I designed the wheels to work on the floor, in fact they are typical for toys, so they are not very suitable for working with real tracks. However, if you replace them with wheels with edges, you will be able to use the trains on classic tracks, but you will need to modify or remove all the brakes.

  • @PrintedToys
    @PrintedToys3 ай бұрын

    Thank you! The level of complexity is this for several reasons: - I designed all parts so that they could be printed without brims and rafts, - each part fits into the working area of the smallest printer I have (8 cm * 8 cm * 7.5 cm), - you can choose the colors of parts more freely, even on printers that cannot replace the filament during printing, - it's a toy, so to make repairs much easier, it was divided into small parts. If something breaks, all you need to do is print a small part (I run workshops for children with these trains - a total of over 70 locomotives and wagons, after all-day workshops with over 100 children, all repairs and printing of spare parts take no more than an hour). Moreover, assembling and designing colors is also part of the fun, best if it is done together with the child :)

  • @PrintedToys
    @PrintedToys3 ай бұрын

    Najbardziej skomplikowany model pojawi się już niebawem (ponad 100 części). To sporo, jednak w tym szaleństwie jest metoda: zabawki muszą być ekstremalnie łatwe w drukowaniu (wszystko bez podpór) i szybkie w naprawie (małe części szybciej się drukuje i podmienia), poza tym duże rozdrobnienie części pozwala fajnie bawić się kolorami, co dobrze widać na zdjęciach na stronie. Napęd nie był planowany m.in. z powodu kłopotów z przyczepnością - załadowany pociąg naprawdę trudno ruszyć z miejsca. Co prawda dla naprawdę zdeterminowanych pozostało trochę miejsca w przedziałach silników i da się coś tam wsadzić, ale dzieci świetnie się bawią i bez napędu.
