After purchasing these fixtures, discovered that they only rotate about 1/8 of the way. This means that if the clips for the rods springs in the already-installed lights are not at 12 & 6, or 3 & 9, (in other words aligned with your walls), the square trim cannot be adjusted to align with the walls. The fixture's rotation allows for a slight alignment adjustment, but not enough to compensate for the can light housing's alignment. Very frustrating and unfortunate as we greatly prefer square -- but the clips in the can don't allow for a proper installation of these lovely lights (without totally re-seating every can light first). We are continuing our battle to get these installed without ripping up the ceilings.

Just bought these in 6” black and whites and also the 4” blacks. They do allow you to twist them about 1/4 of the way letting you adjust them to be aligned. It needed to turn just about 10 more degrees to be perfect. Just had to man handle it a bit. The black ones have a white gasket which is a bummer, causes quite a bit of adjustment to cover it. The 4” ones dont have the springs, compression against the sides. I had to bend those to get a nice tight fit. They look awesome when getting it just right, just expect to spend time adjusting.

If it was tested by ETL it most likely won't pass a real fire test. They are known in the industry to run the small scale test incorrectly. UL is actively working on updating the standard to stop the market from being flooded by these fake fire rated lighting products coming out of China. A steel housing with no fire protection besides the steel itself will not pass the test and it's a liability. Worked in fire rated products for the last 7 years. Taken this same product apart. No fire barrier besides steel. Steel with no insulation material allows to much heat through into the plenum causing the wood structure to char and fail. Scary that people promote products they don't understand.

My municipality is refusing to approve thin fire rated can lights unless manufacturer's test results specify testing was done in 2x8 ceilings.

I agree with your municipality. Some of the regulatory agencies (ETL & CSA) don't run the small scale fire testing correctly and are passing lighting products that actually do not pass the test as they interpret the pass fail criteria incorrectly. If you can't find the approved fire rated product listed in the UL CDHW directory I would not use it. You will be putting peoples lives and property at risk. I have been developing fire rated products for almost a decade and was concerned when seeing these types of products released to the market. I have bought all these new fire rated canless lights and taken them apart to review their construction and none of them are constructed in a way that would stop fire from spreading within a plenum space as they are just a steel plate with no insulating properties. Just steel will not stop the heat from getting into the ceiling cavity and charring the joists. UL is actively working on updating the standard to correct this issue so the other regulatory agencies cannot interpret their results in such a way that would allow products like this to pass.

It would be nice if there was a quick demonstration in regard to the electrical snaptrim clips at the junction box. Given the very next frame shows someone plugging together the light and the junction box which is self-intuitive. I assume one strips wire to size and insert the wire into the electrical snaptrim clips and it locks itself in place?
