@MacJersey see at 02:57 that brown house with all the dormer windows sitting out in the middle of the water. That was our house until the mid-1980s when we sold it to my stepsister and her husband after my stepmother died. I loved that house and the amazing steady breeze off the intercostal. That big house closer to the camera that is sitting right up against the causeway? My stepmother’s parents vacation home. They were prominent physicians from Philly - last name Hirst.

Funny video my husband and I would be scared silly too lol well if it's to beautiful to be true definitely suspect to swim in. I remember there was a lake similar to this water, its so blue you'd think it was Turks & caicos beach but that water was deadly to swim in. People use it for Instagram pictures while paddle boarding, nothing grew nor could live in it maybe this water is the same. also the blue/green hues could be from the 3 different layers it may have; The deep dark bottom, The middle were the green fungi algae makes a line kind of like oil & vinegar does, this part of the lake water smells of sulfur rotting eggs, it has no oxygen then the top part which is clear as the raise of the sun beams in the water it bounces and reflects the greenish blue.

I hate it when rich people and their snot nosed bratty kids have to lose nice things. Many of the homes there are/we're nicer than any of us will ever see, and they are/were summer cabins for wealthy people from NYC. Luckily they had the cash to rebuild quickly....🖕

I used to hang there in the 90's. 4x4ing. Camped out, swam, drank. I've been fined too. Where the mineral processing plant is I saw what looked like a broken down chimney. I stuck my head inside and got a weird buzzing sensation. The hair on my back stood up. The inside of the chimneys bricks looked melted. It looks like the Sahara desert out there.Sand dunes and all. Nothing grows from contamination. Radioactive sand. Used to be a sign.

First time for me there was 1986. We used to a lot of four wheeling and drinking and swimming from 86-92. There used to be 2 giant dredgers back there. I know they dismantled one and the other is probably gone too. We used to come in through rt 37 entrance and sometimes had to go out through Congasia road out to Whitting. They used to call the entrance Crazy Joes on Bone Hill Road off Rt. 37 because there was a restaurant called that. Lot of fun. Thanks for the upload.

It is very sad. There is a "God" which we call "Nature"... hurricanes are part of the Earth's process of equalizing the climate and distributing water. (I always hope for some kind of hurricane in September, not a destructive one, just enough to put an end to the droughts we have been having and refill the water table.) So they are part of what makes Earth a livable planet. Planets that don't have weather, become like Mars.

Hi R40Jon! that area is fine with the exception of the homes on the river alot of them flooded and the marina's lost boats that were stored on blocks. area faired well with alot of the destruction on the barrier island and the bridge area. many homes were lost.
