DownsSyndromeAssoUK

DownsSyndromeAssoUK

Since our formation as a local parent’s support group in 1970, we have developed into a highly regarded national charity with over 20,000 members and a network of affiliated local support groups.

We are the only charity in the UK dealing with all aspects of Down’s syndrome.

During the last 50 years significant advances have been made in the lives of people who have Down’s syndrome and their families. Life expectancy has improved because of developments in healthcare and we now live in a society where there is an increasing expectation of inclusion for people who have Down’s syndrome of all ages, in all areas of society.

It is our mission to create the conditions where every person who has Down’s syndrome can live a full and rewarding life.

We support people who have Down’s syndrome, and their parents and carers, throughout their lives.

Great tips! Could you please inform me at what age do women with DS should visit a gynecologist in UK?

Hiya. Apologies for the late reply. This document (from our Health Series, written with DSMIG who are mentioned in the video) may give you the answer: www.downs-syndrome.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Sexual-Health-1st-May-KP-3rd-July-SM_DSMIG.pdf Typically, in the UK, women only see a specialist gynecologist if there is an issue of specific concern. Most other issues are handled by their GP.

What a wonderful young lady. So articulate and informative. It is heartwarming to hear that companies such as Work Fit exist, promoting inclusion and providing support for everyone in society with additional needs should be the norm.

A load of shite from day #1...but sleeping with an executive producer at channel 4 allowed Steph to keep the show far longer on air than anyone else would have been allowed to - anyone else and the show would have been axed back in 2020. Steph is an ok "bit" presenter on others' shows, but no way strong enough to present an entire show on her own, or even be a main presenter with others.
