1 strong argument in favor of consoles back in time used to be how fast you could play the games without having to install them, (that was something we PC gamers couldnt brag about) its sad to see how MUCH that has changed

Another issue with this and last gen consoles is that hard drives fill up fast, im lucky to have a full screen of games but that is a rare sight, so not only do you have to wait hours to download a new game, you also have to choose what game to delete. mean while my 360s hard drive is only half full holding 3x as many games as my xbox one would hold... the ancient 360 hard drive will likely fail long before it can be filled. Also xbox has the audacity to have an expensive proprietary external hard drive system when external hard drives were necessary last generation!

I think one of the best features halo series had was the auto-party system post match. So you could keep playing rounds with same people and build comradary or rivalry. Made many friends that way.

How is it that you understand how expensive 9th gen’s are but think they should put the xb1 AND ps4 out of their misery? The solution is in game content, not graphics. All you have to do is up the textures and smooth out some things for 9th gen releases which are pushed out and no one can afford them or the consoles, which are quickly becoming classist cash grabs, snitch on your neighbor, propagandist, licensing scams. It's funny it looks like having the same problem back in the 80s and 90s 200s that pc gaming had pc had no game most of them were bad it was hard making pc game back then so people bought console ignoring pc then when ps4 pro come out that's when people were switching slowly then when civilization happened in cov19 year 2020 that's when people were buying pc it was easy then getting hold of console couldn't have most things we needed that a pc had so just makes sense year 2020 to late 2021 now I don't know if gaming will Survive. Hopefully gta 6 come out change gaming Industry.

I will agree the emotional connection to older consoles. I have 2 cousins and a brother right now. That are bummed out that they have to upgrade their console.... sence when was it a sad/ bad experience upgrading a console.... WHAT HAPPENED!

Oh, hey! Silent Hill 4 puts me to sleep! Like, the first time it happened I was super tired after playing 2 and 3 on a binge, so that was understandable. But I've tried 4 other times since and yup, fell asleep midway through each one of them. I get past the trains, then there's some house and I'm asleep.

Even back to the OG Xbox I was annoyed at how long it took to get a game started. It took like 10 seconds in the 16-bit era. The fact that it takes longer now is insane. And freaking Halo Infinte, last week we spent 30 minutes trying to get a game going with my friends. We finally gave up and played EDF 4.1, a 7th generation budget game. We were playing in like, 2 minutes.
