    You dont see that praying to or through dead people is denying the work of Christ on the cross? Jesus gave His life so we can have direct access to the Father. Jesus said to "Pray like this, Our Father who art in Heaven." Jesus also said "Do not pray in vain repetition like the heathens do for they think they will be heard for their many words." Praying in vain is praying to dead people. Jesus said the dead can't hear us or even know whats going on. And the 10 commandments were changed so that the Catholics can have their idols. Study the two sets of 10 Commandments and it will be obvious that #2 was taken out and #10 was turned into 2 separate commandments. And there are so much more. Jesus also told us not to call anyone Holy Father for you only have 1 Father and He is in Heaven. So the Pope not prists aren Holy Fathers.

    The sacrament of confession needs a deeper explanation from the Catholic Church. Here is the issue: “Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained” According to the teaching of the Catholic Church this is how Jesus Christ gave the apostles and their successors, the priests, the power to forgive (and not to forgive) sinners of their sins. The Church further claims that during absolution the priest personifies Jesus Christ who is actually the one granting or denying the absolution. The sins being mentioned are sins committed against God, not sins committed against fellow men. The Church has not given any detailed and plausible explanations as to when, why and how this interpretation of this passage in the Bible was developed. The Church did not decide this overnight. It must have gone through a process after which the Church finally decided that it was the correct interpretation. Who in particular confirmed that this is the correct interpretation? Could it be possible that the Church erred? Another possible interpretation could be that Jesus Christ was telling the apostles that if someone offended another, and the offender asked for forgiveness the offended may either forgive or not forgive the offender. This is being echoed in the Lord’s Prayer where it says “… forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us.” We forgive those who committed sins against us, and God forgives those who committed sins against Him. The forgiveness of sins committed against God is a divine task. The Church assumes that this divine task could be delegated or entrusted to humans? What assurance is there that the decision to grant or deny absolution is not influenced by bias on the part of the confessor. Of course, the Church will argue that it is actually Jesus who is being personified by the priest. This is where the detailed and plausible explanations are needed. Jesus did not say “Whose sins you shall forgive, I forgive them; whose sins you shall retain, I retain.” PLEASE COMMENT Fred Firme

    He is totally wrong. The gifts of God have certainly NOT disappeared. What about Padre Pio, St. Benedict, Sister Faustina and many many others. Paul also mentions the powers of God very active among the Corinthian church which was an extremely large body of believers. In my work for God I have seen amazing miracles. See I Corinthians chapter 12 verse 7. Also why is the church allowing an evil and wicked man like Joe Biden who encourages child sexualization and sex changes to take communion? I find that very hypocritical. And I am Catholic!

    "...I am God, there is NO other; I am God, there is none like me. At the beginning, I declare the outcome; from of old, things not yet done. I say that my plan shall stand, I accomplish my every desire." Isaiah 46: 9-10. One must first understand that the 'god' of Mormonism is NOT the God of Scripture or Tradition. The 'Jesus' of Mormonism is Lucifer's spirit brother, but he does not share the same nature as the Father (not consubstantial as our Creed informs us). "In the beginning (creation) was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD." John 1: 1. Mormons may use "Christian language" to speak to us, but they do not use Christian definitions. Be very careful and discerning. These beliefs that Mormons hold are not in any way "Christian" at their core. They are pure mythology in religious attire. Amen. 🙂🙂🙂🙂

    Having been raised believing in the the rapture and taught a form of dispensationalism (I am now 53, so a long time), and only becoming a Catholic a few months ago, I don't want to go against the Churches teaching, but there is so much more to the rapture. I find the rapture idea similar to how Allison taught on Mary being the Ark of the Covenant. It's not in your face, but I can see what people who believe in the rapture are talking about. This was a very interesting talk and I find this speaker well informed but in this talk I do not feel she addressed the deeper more hidden reason for belief in the rapture. I would also like to say that not all who believe in the rapture are about getting out of the great tribulation. There is the idea that as it was in the days of Noah, or as it was in the days of Lot, can also be talking about God preserving His faithful. He removed them, or, protected them from His wrath. Just going off the people I know who believe in the rapture, they would agree that Christians will suffer tribulation, but they believe you are saved from when God pours out His wrath in the great tribulation.

    So sad to hear him speak in a Catholic vacuum. Any Protestant can likewise cherry pick the fathers to “prove” their doctrines. Why not be more fair and intellectually honest and show that the writings of the fathers are not that clean. Why not quote Clement’s discussion on salvation in Chapter 32??? Because it shows that even obedience wrought by love through faith are not part of salvation. This guy would make a ‘good’ fundamental Baptist in that there’s no genuine desire to show this is much more complicated and that we need to be able to address the very best arguments of the opposing side if we are going to grow in our knowledge of the truth.

    Reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture. We are not saved by sacraments; we are saved by faith. As one can see the origin of the Catholic Church is not in the teachings of Jesus and His apostles.

    I'm studying JW right now and as I studied, it struck me that what it most reminds me of is Roman Catholicism. One of the biggest differences is JWs aren't allowed to do critical thinking about their organization whereas RCs are.

  • @nametheunknown_
    @nametheunknown_6 ай бұрын

    @larysnw418 The biggest similarity to me is the authority structure. If you ask both a Roman Catholic and one of JWs, “How do you know what is true regarding spiritual matters?”, they will both (in practice, if not by admission) point to a limited number of men in authority (the Pope/bishops in communion with him on the one hand, the Governing Body on the other) and to a continual stream of official pronouncements from that authority regarding spiritual matters. These pronouncements are mostly taken as the final word, if not as outright infallible/inspired. The stream being continual over time, official church positions in both cases end up contracting themselves and certainly end up contradicting the Holy Scriptures.

  • @nametheunknown_
    @nametheunknown_6 ай бұрын

    @larysnw418 Roman Catholics also point to Acts 15 to support their position on the Papacy and the Magisterium.

  • @nametheunknown_
    @nametheunknown_6 ай бұрын

    @larysnw418 my point was just that theology of spiritual authority on earth is similar and my point is furthered that JW and RC argue from the same biblical passages. We could explore that further if you don't mind taking the time here. You mentioned the papacy determining/interpreting Scripture. If you came to think the Bible taught X, but the Watch Tower explicitly taught not X, which would you believe?
