When I got to the point of my wedding day I had $14 left in my checking account after paying for a wedding for 150 people. That money dance money was a godsend. This money dance is a long standing tradition that has been done for years and years( I can remember back 60 years personally and definately it has been done longer at weddings . This is not some new idea---it is showing love and support from your loved ones. When you are starting out and newly setting up a house its expensive. When I went to the grocery store for the first time my Mom was with me---we kept putting stuff in the cart-laundry soap and fabric softner, bleach, cleaning supplies,sponges, broom and dustpan, mop and bucket, floor cleaner, dishwashing soap and dishwasher soap, glass cleaner, lysol disenfectant---then for the bathroom acetamenophen, toothpaste and brushes, toilet cleaner, mouthwash,dental floss, toilet paper and paper towels..and on and on. We got to the checkout and I pulled out my checkbook and almost fainted when the cashier gave me the total...over $250.00 ...and that was 45 years ago! My Mom smiled and said to me , "Happy housewarming honey! and wrote a check from her account" ...gotta love Mom! What a supreme show of affection, she knew what was coming... I was too young to realize the cost of setting up house. And whats a $20 donation to a loved one who has just provided you with hours of food, fun, comraderie, dancing... and memories to keep a lifetime.

I’ve seen this video recently without the introduction. Always loved the music and didn’t really know the meaning of lyrics. The couple danced absolutely beautiful - graceful, fluid like the ocean, and in harmony with each other. Loved how they smiled through out and enjoyed dancing to the music and with each other.
