The Bluebell Railway: Preserved steam trains running through the heart of Sussex.
Steam-hauled trains run between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes and East Grinstead.
The volunteer-run Bluebell Line was the UK's first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1960. Since then it has developed into one of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its objectives of the preservation for posterity of a country branch line, its steam locomotives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices.

Who's pushing Stepney ?
1:04 Stepney and Fergus 2:25 I wish there were signs like that on our buses.
Wow I have never been but it does look really cool
A warm welcome back from here in the states! Despite the new Covid you guys have over in England, it's good to see one of the most unique preservation societies active again. Once again, welcome back!
Hope you get the award for this film
Nice video. Thanks for sharing friend
which loco on static display is the next in line for an overhaul?
Impressing experience. Bravo Blubell.
Pity it closed. I wouldn’t have minded a visit. 😞
Stepney driver simulator is my fav part hope to be back soon
I ll see you in my dreams 🎶🎵😄
Great to have my Dad mentioned and thanks to Tom Martin for all the films.
i found this documentary to be very interesting as Me and my Dad visited the Bluebel railway three years ago and we both greatly enjoyed our visit to there and i brought a year callender in the shop
So awesome
I've only ever seen the black and white part as it was featured on a DVD of British Steam Railways. It was my favourite part of that particular DVD and made me fall in love with this locomotive. Also I think the soundtrack is wonderful. I would love to listen to a clear version of it.
Who’s narrates this? It sounds like Richard Briers.
The narrator is Bob Symes
The Great St Trinians Train Robbery should be remade for a modern audience and filmed on the Bluebell Railway as part of the lines extension plans through Newick and Chailey and Barcombe to Lewes.
I hope to come back to bluebell soon
That’s my dad !
Interesting to see the run around at West Hoathly :-)
I loved Mr. Pastry when i was a kid.
There is something about the idea/sight of a Bulleid pacific lined out with lighting along the casing which is extremely funny to me and I can't quite explain why.
Great film 🎥 a fun way to cover covid 19.Martin.Clunes voice over Makes it good to. Happy birthday 🎂 bluebell
not one for the purists but universally loved by the public I would have thought
So doing this if only Fenchurch could do it
Oh hello
This is just a suggestion, but perhaps add lights onto the wheels? Or is it not possible due to the rods on the wheels?
WOW this looks epic Is it replacing the sant specils I loved them and I do not want them to go
No, we will still be running our Santa Specials
@@BluebellRail thanks for letting me know the winter will still be awsome though with the steam lights
The concept art looks like the railway series
Idk why but the narrator sounds like oj from tugs
And now they have reached East Grinstead!
60th anniversary bless the Bluebell Railway!!😎🚂🚃🚃❤
Ahhh sounds like the late Bob Symmes marrying of model railway fame. Much missed RIP
Worth noting that the Bluebell has two webcams at Sheffield Park, operational on running days. www.bluebell-railway.com/webcams/
is it still working atm
Kudos to all the volunteers!!! When I visit friends in High Hurstwood, I always make it a priority to visit and take a ride on the Blue Bell. Many thanks for all you guys and gals do to preserve rail steam history!
Are there any plans to get Stepney back in steam? Or possibly build a replica as a tribute?
Never say never she will have her turn eventually
Beautiful
Stepney should run again
They need parts to run it. They need a pipe and a new boiler and that would cost 80,000 pounds
When was this filmed or was it for the MOC of Stepney in the steam works
Stepney is one of my favourite Engines
I’m making a video for the bluebell 60th and hoping to get it out soon
Love the song at the end. Is it available to listen to elsewhere?
thanks for sharing, enjoyed the video, the train driver needs a new driver cap
Did I see Johnny Morris on the footplate?
Wonderful. Credit to the rarely-mentioned PW Dept for the smooth ride.
That is a cracking smooth ride
