I have a tumor in my ankle. Could be a nerve tumor or a sarcoma. Praying it's a benign whatever it is. Will be getting a biopsy in 3 days. First Dr. I went to was an Orthopedic Dr. After an x- ray an MRI then another MRI with contrast, I was referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon/ Oncologist. Not many Orthopedic Dr's who are all three. One I am seeing is a 200+ mile away from home round trip. She looked at all my imaging letting me look at the tumor. It's in a an area between my ankle bone and heel..It's three centimeters large taking up that small area. Getting a biopsy done so I can pray this is benign.

My syrinx grew but the newest MRI states "c6/7 syringohydromyelia 11mm" "prominence central cervical canal from c2-c6". I saw that you said using those terms are not good "syringohydromyelia". My symptoms are cape pain and right side full nerve damage.

Onset at age 38: Had chronic low back pain, and neck pain that got worse over a few months. Insurance denied MRI. I did PT for a few months and lumbar got worse and new symptoms on right side. Burning down inside of leg to inner thigh. Hypersensitivity to touch and temp on right ride torso and hip from chest down. Burning in shoulders, numbness tingling in hands. Some balance and bladder issues. Final got MRI 5 months after initial complaint. C6-C7 large central extrusion ,severe canal stenosis, severe cord deformity. Cord signal abnormality, edema, myelomalacia at and below C6-C7. L5-S1 extrusion left paracentral displacing left S1 nerve root with nerve root thickening and edema. Also have large 2cm x 2cm R T12-L1 nueroforaminal cyst. Had ACDF C6-C7 surgery followed by ACCF C5-C7. 4x L L5/S1 lumbar injections All symptoms still persist. There is still compression on the posterior part of the spine at C6-C7. Ortho was considering a posterior surgery but wanted to wait. Neuro surgeon wanted to do an anterior corpectomy without wait and observe. Can a nerve study help understand where problems are coming from? Is it persisting cervical myelopathy? Or the T12-L1 cyst, or the lumbar nerves?

What is new to me, is that SIH is considered to be a 'benign disease'? Please tell me that this misconception is out of the way already! Even with symptoms that grew milder over time, SIH and cPDPH patients are walking zombies, affected not only in the body but also in the mind and spirit. Cognitive deficits + lots of psychological stress due to daily pain, and due to not being heard as a patient. Living in uncertainty. And in disability, at least partially. Not being able to feel stable, to have sharp eyes like you used to,... It's like living with a concussion on a daily basis. You might as well beat these people on the head every day. It has the same impact. Nerves get irreparably damaged over time. And you're never sure that you won't fall into the doomed category of people with the most severe outcome: coma/death. This is someone's brain that we're talking about, for Christ's sake! A brain that is in constant distress due to a leakage of protective fluid.

The presentation was both interesting and very comprehensive despite the complexities surrounding the topic. I thank you, as a beginner AI engineer from Algeria, making my debut in medical AI this year. This raised a question, should the regulation of medical AI tools be handled by the AI and development teams, or should dedicated teams be established to define and oversee the regulatory metrics?

Excuse me? Patients in the past have 'learned to live with it' and so maybe 'we dont have to operate'?? Amazing talk as always, im just abit shocked about the comments from the host at the end. What happened in the past is horrible superficial siderosis, misdiagnosis of frontotemperal dementia with patients being hospitalised in care homes, misdiagnosed as FND, new daily persistent headache, chronic migraine...the list goes on. No patients 'learn to live' with it, theyre forced to suffer with it. Lets hope the host gets to truly appreciate just how debilitating this illness is and how finding ALL leaks and FIXING ALL LEAKS should be the priority.

Cool down. There are also patients who had surgery and still have problems. Surgery is never a 100% guarantee for a symptom free life. But it’s more likely the body heals once the leak is closed,

Extremely informative, hoping more uk doctors can be educated on this debilitating condition. So many suffers in uk left for years waiting for treatment. My spinal csf leak is complicated by an extensive vascular malformation around the spinal area. I am anticipating there will be no treatment for me in the uk. Currently a 12 month wait before I can even see a specialist. WE NEED HELP IN THE UK.

This is so interesting.. I am working with my Neurologist to figure out if i have hydrocephalus or IIH.. My MRIs look ok but i have a pressure in my head that builds up and causes severe headache and eye pain. My lumbar puncture was slightly elevated. I definitely DO NOT want a shunt which my doctor is recommending.. i want this ETV if surgery is the only option. Are there any neurological effects or brain damage that can happen after this procedure is preformed? And also would medication be a choice to reduced increased CSF? A medication such as Acetazolamide instead of surgery?

Thank you for sharing this video. I underwent a right ulnar nerve entrapment release on November 5th, 2021. I tolerated the surgical procedure well with no apparent issues. My recovery was uneventful, and I was able to remain compliant (as a paralegal I have a desk job). These past 3 - 6 weeks I’ve noticed an increase in numbness, tingling and pain in the inside of the elbow, radiating to my right pinky & ring finger. I’m wondering if the physical activity involved with loading and moving items, packing items from Mother-in-law’s home may have exacerbated the symptoms or caused an injury to the elbow? very frustrated and in pain. :(

Thanks for a great webinar The fact that randomised trial patients with similar baseline inclusion characteristics (radiological imaging, VAS , SF36, age, gender, BMI, ect), achieve vastly different outcomes within and across the various trials treatment arms suggest that the measured composite outcome (longitudinal pain, function and coping mechanism) is ALSO routed in a very complex and mostly unknown psycho/social/behavioural and game processing which wasn't identified and NOT adjusted for in the randomisation of the trial populations.... Of course one can not adjust for unknown characteristics, hence the ongoing debate about the risk/benefits of decompression vs decompression+fusion vs conservative care
