I understand what you are thinking. Look at it from this perspective. In Alaska we don't have night time to enjoy fireworks. We do this instead. Now, how much does the average public or private enterprise spend on a high dollar full feature firework ceremony for sending them up in the sky just to go boom? Probably...WAY more - and in the end the people all say "ewwwww, ahhhhh, woooooow" and take pictures and enjoy the moment. Same thing - just different boom. In this case "Mostly" clapped out, worn out vehicles with non-rebuildable titles and more...just going out in a blaz of glory.

The little kids loved this one. It was fun to see it go. David and Nancy bought it in Oregon - painted it pink, added the stickers, did some repairs and drove it all the way to Alaska to send it off. It was a base model 1990 Corvette with the 350 TPI, auto trans, and solid removable top. It has about 130k on it when they sent it.

@@spamanator666 that is my big regret. Before I could even get back to my camper and get a 1/2” wrench a girl peeled the hood sticker off.
