  If Nickelodeon really wanted to do the specials so badly, I just don’t understand why they didn’t do 3 specials for each season. Or just give season 2 another special to include those extra character driven stories.

  I only ever watch these specials when i need a nap. When Winx came to Nickelodeon, i was so happy because i only got to experience seasons 1 and 2 through 4Kids and that was basically it. So when they redid everything through specials, i was pretty happy. But then when i finally got back into Winx in the eighth grade and got to rewatch the entire series beginning with the Cinelume dub, that's when i really began to see just how bad Nickelodeon fucked the show over.

  As much as we hate the specials I wouldn’t be a winx fan so I’ll give them that plus the voice acting and animation I love it it’s so beautiful imo

  I mean, the specials are fine nothing too special. The one thing I will give credit to this era is the voice cast is stacked with a lot of well-known celebrities and voice actors who are involved in the Nickelodeon dub!

  First of all, I think I am one of the few Italians to follow you constantly 😂 Suffering is also shared for us. The only thing that is saved, and will be saved, is our dubbing, which is always excellent and iconic 🙏🏻✨ A short sad story: a Winx-themed musical was recently supposed to take place in Casavatore, but it was cancelled because the truck where the costumes, musical and stage equipment and other objects were all stolen.

  Lol the Nick version doesn't even exist in my mind. The only canon Winx material are the first 4 seasons, and I only watch them in Italian because the voices are consistent and fit the characters well💪 All the English dubs are a bit of a trainwreck. The only watchable one for me is 4kids because plenty of care and passion went into it despite the unnecessary edits.

  I agree, i hate the new transformations, too. They won't even transform. They are just swimming around in glitters while already in their fairy forms.

  I was already 16 when this came out and thus I don't really have childhood nostalgia related to it, I remember being quite upset about the butchering of the first seasons. Great video! I never noticed the great soundtrack so thanks for pointing it out!

  I love how despite how often we debate whether the Cinelume or 4Kids dub is better, we can all agree that nothing is as bad as the Nick dub. Also, I’ve been rewatching the first 3 seasons (I know, what else is new?) and I absolutely prefer the original animation over the HD versions. Maybe it’s the nostalgia influencing my preferences? Idk. It just feels like it has so much more charm!

  i really feel like people just say these specials are better animated just bcs they stay on model most of the times (well these are puppet animations so it would be wierd if they didn't) but like these look lifeless, everyone moves the same, they have no real facial expressions, transformations are boring and are all the same if you ignore the color of the background and sparkle effect.png

  Man the flash animation that started in season 4 pissed me of and got worse from season 5. It felt like they were lazy to properly animate.

  The winx learning how to converge their powers was my favorite part of season 2. Episode 12 specifically is probably my favorite... seeing that they removed every scene of them in their classes learning new spells or training destroys my soul

  I remember the specials being advetised and watching it in secret. Family was very "traditional" Ig ie fairies are for girls what are you queer? Little did I know at the time i was lol. Was so excited for Aisha bc she was new. I'm happy that the cinelune dub was on Netflix in the mid 2010s so I could watch season 1 and 2 without the huge amount of cuts they made in the specials.

  I honestly tried liking the Nick dub. I tried so hard to like it. 4Kids was clumsy, I will admit, but they at least tried. Seems like the Nick localization was rushed for the sake of getting to the new content.

  I feel so weird reading all these comments saying “i grew up with nick & im nostalgic for it” cause i was also young at the time, but i did watch the first 3 seasons and I remember hating the specials for butchering the original even as a kid?? Which is insane, i genuinely couldnt stand them …also they ruined dark bloom lmao

  i like the original 4 seasons way better than the specials, but i do like to put on the specials in the background while i do work from time to time. i also like to watch these specials + the nick dubs of seasons 3 and 4 if i’m binging the show as a whole, because having the same cast makes them feel more like the same characters in the same journey.

  Simple nickeldon carried in animation and sound track and rainbow carried in story writing and with good plots but overall both are good in their own way.

  One of the biggest issues of these specials are that they tried to make Bloom the "main, perfect character whose friends are just there". The writers at Nickelodeon didn't wanted to understand why they work together and why everybody loved the original show. From season 5 until today they tried to make Bloom the "foundation" of the show, a person, who can be a role model for little girls, taken away her personality and her little quirks that made her unique, but not just hers, but everyone's as well, turning them into "shadows of their former self". The specials could have been so much more, not just rehash of the first two seasons, but a great chance to introduce each and every girl, their worlds and their interests and their role in the group, that changed their life for better.

  Well as much as Nickelodeon screwed up the seasons, you gotta admit the opening is pretty catchy. Plus some the VA's did a decent job playing the characters. Does that save them for summarizing seasons 1 and 2? HECK NO Btw love your videos Thomas 💙💛🩷❤️💜💚

  Well, for starters, they probably should have given themselves more time. Maybe if the specials had been 2 hours each, they could have fit in more of the character moments. The season 2 one definitely needed more than one installment, for sure.

  While I have grown up with the nick version, I didn't even know that there were more episodes to winx until I saw the RAI dub. As most as I love the nick dub with its pros and cons, it did condense a lot of crucial things.

  I have loved Slayers since watching it back when it was first released. The Motion Picture was really cool with a fantastic incantation of the Dragon Slave. The series is something i go back to all the time

  I disagree because since Nickelodeon have bought the Winx Club Series the revival version of Season one and two storylines in the four special length episodes looks a lot better than the original especially in the Winx Club: The Shadow Phoenix were Darkar disguise as Professor Avalon and the version of Dark Bloom designs is impressive. I even liked the the new improved characters artstyle and their voices too so I have no problems with this at all.

  I love the 4 kids version more than the Nick version because I grew up with the 4 kids version but I like the Nick version too. I don't like the flash animation but I like how pretty it was for the Nick version especially for the charmix transformation. I also love the music for the Nick version.

  *at the beginning* i-is that stella's scepter? *by **4:00* get that scepter out of my face! O.O what is that?! And they did change Bloom's outfit....where's season 1's outfit? ;~; i'm glad I was busy moving into my college dorms during the release of these things..... By the time I got settled in, figured out how to use my first laptop and had access to TV again, this was over and the new season was out. I didn't realize the network liked screwing things over until LoK

  Honestly, I can kinda see why they cut Tecna trying to be emotional from the Seaon 2 special I mean, what introvert leads with something as powerful as: "Walking backwards is irational, I'm Tecna."

  Imagine if Nickelodeon really did include Aisha in their Winx specials from the beginning. She must've had a roommate, and who it could've been. The fight scenes would've been rechoreographed to make Aisha contribute something. Added dialogue and basically making her the most proactive protagonist. These requires a lot of work, I realized typing this down. I see why Nick just did the lazy route instead.

  I already said this on the community post but crucify me but I absolutely love the specials😩 but in February I watched the rai English or cinelume dub for the very first time even though I watched the nick version dozens of times. I am biased to the nick voices and animation so any other version I didn’t not watch, but I do agree the specials leave out a lot of plot points of the characters. And I’m sure we can all agree to that consensus. Especially with life at alfea, battle at magicx, etc. if you haven’t watched the original version I highly recommend it adds so much more but I do feel like they summed up the first two seasons decently at the very least they could’ve done 3-4 specials for s2 as well

  I will always be biased towards the specials because they were how I was introduced to the franchise, they hold a special place in my heart. However I still agree that they’re nowhere near as good as they could’ve been. They butchered the originals and it suuuuucks so much. 9-10 year old me deserved so much better 😭

  Specials 1 and 3 were flash/puppet animated while specials 2 and 4 were actually hand-drawn. Though you can tell that the hand-drawn ones were rushed, especially 4, which doesn't hold a candle to the corresponding season 2 scenes when you compare them. ❤
