    Did you have a check engine light before you cleaned it? Is that why you cleaned it? I gave a p0102 maf code. I'm wondering if this would fix it?

  • @lostelectrons
    @lostelectronsАй бұрын

    Mine was fairly intermittent coming on with that code, depending on the outside temperature - if it was a hot day (something like +27°C or warmer), it would come on once my engine got up to running temperature and I was driving it a little harder than normal (because fun times). Otherwise I didn't really have an issue with check engine light. Never did see it come on with that specific code after I cleaned it.

    Played with these PC power supplies myself, well some years ago, and what I noted then was that the supplies used the 5V output to regulate for varying load which leads to some poor regulation if the 12V output is loaded and the 5V not loaded IE the 12V output will 'sag' as the load increases because it's not being 'seen' by the controller chip. If the 5V output is loaded and 12V unloaded then the 12V voltage will rise as the controller PWM adjusts to maintain the 5V target. I'm saying it does work but it's not precision by any means. I'd also add a cautionary note about handling the PCB without ensuring the primary side capacitors are fully discharged first - never rely on the design including discharge resistors or that they are actually functional even if they do exist!

    I know this is three years old but, in case you haven't yet learned this, the hot lead of the power cord always, Always, ALWAYS goes, directly, to the switch First. Otherwise, the circuit will have power on it at all times. Very dangerous. That charger was incorrectly wired, from the factory. No matter what you are working on, power goes to the switch First. 😁✌🖖

  • @lostelectrons
    @lostelectrons Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for pointing that out, however this specific battery charger doesn't actually turn on and off by the switch, it just switches between 2 amp trickle charge, 12 amp charge, and 75 amp boost (you can see that around the 12:50 mark in the video). So there is supposed to have power everywhere in there the second it is plugged into a power source. All the switch does is "turn on" other windings inside the transformer to step up the "power" by providing additional returns for the current to travel through. If you switch the hot in this case, you wouldn't get a smooth step-up transition, and it would be far more harmful to the transformer than just switching the neutrals. I do agree that there should have been an isolating switch on the hot before it got to the transformer, but that's not how this device was made, probably because it's not meant to be plugged into a power source for extended periods of time where an isolation switch would be needed, since it is just a home charger that might be used once a year then put back in storage.

    @@thekillerexe-ur3yy if you can still see the sticker label, it should tell you under the DC Output rating what the Max Watts is. it should also tell you what kind of current (amps) it will do, both are limiting factors on what the power supply will do. if you want to do the math on it, or if it doesnt show the watts, you can calculate it by (Amps) X (Volts)

    HI my friend i have a nightmare here. my car was in my garage a open garage about 3 months and i forget to cover the holes of the slave and the master cylinder. men i find a technician and put my new clutch and now the pedal.didnt want to go down entirely. i can't start the engine because the pedal didnt hit the switch its like very close by mm to the switch so the mechanic came and adjust the switch and start the engine the car its running didn't have shifting problem etc but its weird because the pedal didn't want to go down. i know this its not good and i didn't use the car after this. did you believed the slave or master was damage because was 3 months leave in my open garage without cover it? i order new ones and put my fe on this its not works i will sell it

  • @lostelectrons
    @lostelectrons3 жыл бұрын

    I'm no automotive mechanic, and I am sort of having a hard time understanding the issue, but it sounds like you got a new clutch installed? There's that linkage that goes to the clutch fork inside that attaches to the Slave Cylinder, and that needs to be pushed backwards (towards the cab) until it has a noticeable "click" into position before attaching to the slave

If you mean that the diameter is larger, it shouldn't really matter as long as it can pass through the firewall and connect to the pedal properly.
