Hi, Benjamin here.
I am enthusiastic about cookware, gadgets, kitchen tools, and different food topics. Is my goal with this channel document my experience trying different materials for food preparation and also trying new recipes and ingredients. By no means I claim to be an expert in the food topic, If anything I hope to learn about those topics from the community in the channel
I will appreciate if you consider to support this goal in any way.
Thank you

You wear with out socks 🧦 ??
With these ones, I wear the kind of socks that hide inside the shoe. I think they are called seamless socks. Take care
Do you add an insole?
I haven't had the need for an insole.
The Ottawa is one of my favorite boots. I don't get too fancy with pairing my boots with specific styles or activities. I just have black boots and brown boots. My Ottawas are brown boots. I don't wear brown boots with black trousers. Beyond that, anything goes.
Great points. Thank you. Best wishes to you.
Hiw do i enter this competition? I have a pair of bramd new nicks boots. I put 10 to 15k steps a day at work. I have to wear black boots at work and black never wins bc the change isnt as dramatic in pictures but id be in the top finishers.
You should definitely enter this challenge, it will start again in October first. Keep and eye on the stitchdown podcast, they will have all details there how to enter. Best luck to you.
I am looking forward to getting the Archie boot (which you have also reviewed) great video. Gracias!
Hope you like them. Thank you for checking out the video.
Always great reviews.
Thank you. Best wishes for you.
Hey thanks for making a video about these shoes! For future videos, it would be helpful to see these shoes on feet or just in close-ups to see the details
Thank you for the feedback. I will definitely do that on future videos. Best wishes.
They look beautiful! Please do an update in 3 months about the comfort
Thank you for checking out the video, I will for sure provide and update. Best wishes for you.
Is it true to size?
They sure are.
What does pull up leather mean ? That doesn't tell us what type of leather the boot is .lol
Thankyou for checking out the video, this leather is quite oily so when you pull it, or put pressure on it you can see the oils running along the pressure points on it, that makes the leather very supple on the feet. Hope that illustrates the concept. Best wishes for you
@feastingonmetal8503 thank you , it's a pass , I read reviews ,many quality issues
Good call man, although I didn't have any issues with mine, Its always good to keep looking for real good deals.
Beautiful boots. Unfortunately i didn't understand your example of sizing. Did you go true to size or half up from brannok? Thank you
Thank you for checking out the video. With the Unmarked brand I find their boots to run small, So as a suggestion I'd say stick to your brannock size or size up 1/2 size if you enjoy having the extra room in your boots. Best wishes for you.
@@feastingonmetal8503 thanks for reply. Did you size this ones true to size or you went half up? I guess this is where my confusion comes from. I saw your other unmarked video where you mentioned you went true to size and that was from what I understand restricting, this pair seems to be perfect, and I can't say is it because of the different last or sizing
This pair is brannock size. I am happy witht he fit.
@@feastingonmetal8503 oh cool, thank you. This is really useful info
Great video! They look awesome after the resole! What do you recommend for sizing on these boots? The 1155s are a part of their work line and didn’t know if you’d suggest buying true to my brannock size or not? Thanks!
Thank you for checking out the video, With redwing heritage line I stick to my brannock size, but for their work boots I come down half size, but it doesnt work for everyone. If you have the chance to stop by a redwing store take that opportunity to try them on. Hope that helps, and good luck to you.
I'd buy a pair if i could find them in England, nice looking boots
Thank you for checking out the video, hope you can find a pair of them there. Best wishes to you.
Styles aside, how do these boots compare to Grant Stone particularly in quality and value? Thanks.
Hands down, you get more value of a Grant Stone boot.
Thanks for the update Ben! The resole looks epic. Unsung does amazing work!
Those soles look amazing on them!
Thank you, I appreciate it. And thank you for checking out the video.
Do those boots run a half size of your brannock size?
Dont go down on the size for this brand. Just stick to your true size. Good luck to you.
@@feastingonmetal8503 thank you for the helpful insight.
Beautiful
Thank you
These are beautiful!
Size comparison to brass boot?
Brass boot runs larger than Ottawa boot by one whole size. For me at least. Thank you for the comment.
Excellent patina. Great job. I will be getting those boots soon; I am just deciding the color. Thanks for the update
That is awesome, I hope you make the right decision. Best wishes for you.
Just received my pair of the same jeans (I’m regular taper). I’m going to follow your path and wear them for the 6 months before first wash. I’m really curious if your pair shrank.
I hope you like your jeans, Def have a different feeling from Mall Jeans, I just wish the pockets on mine were a little deeper. Other than that, they are solid. Good luck on your first six months. Take care.
Curious if they shrank much or at all after the 1st soak if you've worn them since. Enjoyed the video ifa@feastingonmetal8503
Hey Ben! I still need to try some Selvedge. Just weary about buying a new brand/fit. I’ve been a 505 guy for almost a decade.
Buttons could be complicated sometimes, but after a while they are ok. Thank you for checking out the video. Best wishes for you.
Looking good!!
Thank you, and thank you for visiting the channel. Take care.
Fantastic review Ben !! Subscribed right away.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Great color. Looking good Ben!
Looking really good!!
Thank you. Best wishes.
They sound like they have held up well. I agree, inflation has been crazy. I feel like everything is almost double what it used to be. I hope you are doing well ❤
Thank you for the visit. hope things go back down at some point. Wishing you are doing well too. take care.
This would be an amazing springtime boot, paired with light blue chinos, or some seriously faded denim. Not super versatile but a statement pair for sure.
I agree with you 100% I will try that this spring. Take care.
I wasted many eggs still they r sticking to steel pan.
Lower the heat, and add a little more butter. hope that helps.
I like the look in the mahogany, but I would want taller like 8"?
Yes, it would be nice if they offer taller boots, unfortunatelly they dont :( Thank you for checking out the video. Take care.
what is the leather on this pair?
Thank you for checking out the video, the leather on this pair is natural Essex leather from the Horween Tannery in Chicago. Take care.
@@feastingonmetal8503 Where did you get your kilties? Thanks
nice! how would you compare sizing and fit against Grant Stone's Leo last?
Thank you for checking out the video, The Unmarked brand boots run smaller than Grant Stone's Leo last. To be in the safe side for Unmerked I get the same size I wear sneaker shoes. Hope that help. Take cake.
Great looking boots. I checked out their site, very interesting stuff.
Thank you for checking out the video. They do have interesting stuff there. I was there just now and I was tempted to get another pair. Luckily I didn't, lol. Take care and best wishes for you.
How is the sizing on these? Compared to red wing or something. Thank you !
They run smaller, What I would do is buy the same size I buy in Tennis shoes. Hope that helps.
@@feastingonmetal8503 cool, I wear 10.5 in Truman boots and Tennis shoes. 10 in red wing.
Great looking boots
Thank you for checking out the video. I am also looking forward to see your boots getting a nice layer of character with time and wear. Take care.
@@feastingonmetal8503 Thank you. Nice to see how leather changes over time
I ordered the Arizona and they are just way to dark almost black with a slight hint of dark brown in bright lighting. I’m really considering trad8n* them in for these Olive Green Captains.
Thank you for checking out the video. Green looks nice, although sometimes is hard to wear. Good luck to you.
I was looking at these. Are they made in León or somewhere else in Mexico, or China? Also, how are you finding the sizing on the Bravestar jeans? Great looking boots and good luck in the competition!
Hi, Thank you for checking out the video. The boots are made in Mexico. And I find the sizing on Bravestar Jeans very similar to sizing on Levis jeans. Best wishes for you.
@@feastingonmetal8503 Thanks for that! Love your channel and look forward to seeing these boots with some wear.
Low quality ????? they look Amazing ,,, I love Steve's Chanel, I never put in Mind how boots are made until I got some Red wings and it changed my life on boots
Thank you for checking out the video. The boots were low quality, but them Steve put his magic on them, and now they are fantastic. Actually I only wear them for special occasions. Take care, and best wishes for you.
Carnal what are the original Color they came in? they look so cool
They were light grey/blueish color, now they are wering darker with all the wear. Thank you for stopping by. Take care and best wishes.
What cobbler do you use
Thank you for the comment. Some boots I have, I want to send them to Unsung down in Nashville. Other boots I have I want to send them to Revive Shoe Repair down in LA. Take care.
Interesting how you do the top hook by lacing over to under.
Oh damn you visited the Nick’s store? The Sage Chromepak is nice.
I think someone said RW discontinued the Pecos, is that right? Sad as that looks like a nice boot.
They are discontinued from the heritage line in USA. But still available for international markets. Also they are still available under the work boot lines. Not exactly the same but available for the die hard fans. Take care.
Ya man inflation is getting insane. I feel like $50 goes like $20 went a few years ago. The other day I took the family out to Five Guys and dinner was $80. For fast food burgers, fries, and sodas. Brutal.
Its just crazy how little you get with the same amount just a few years ago. Thank you for checking out the video. Take care.
Gorgeous. I still regret not buying them in Essex leather.
Looking good dude!
Thank you. And thank you for stopping by. Take care.
I like your boots and attitude, but there is no way I’m paying $50 to be a part of their “contest”. Last year a Nicks employee won it, I’m not sure the judging is objective. They’ve ruined a nice idea.
Thank you for the comment. I completely understand your point. But I have to say, the part I like about the process is actually being a member in their discord server. In addition of meeting fun people there, as a member we get discounts on many of the sponsor brands, also we get to participate in giveaways organized for members, and buy and sell different stuff on their market place. Personally I have won there about four pairs of boots and bought at discount prices couple more. for the $50 I paid to participate I think I have gained more. I really like that. Best wishes for you.
@@feastingonmetal8503 I’m glad you’ve won some boots but in essence, this is a contest just for members and not for the masses, like it used to be. Over in Styleforum you can join for free and have great boot discussions and buy and sell boots. I can’t think every person who joins for $50 ends up winning a free pair of boots, much less multiple pairs. But if so, I’m joining. $50 to get a pair or two of free boots, count me in!
That boot that won was ugly imo. I actually ordered a Nick's in the natural w&c double stuff and changed the color from natural to brown after I saw them lol.
Did you received them already? I bet they will develop into a fine pair of aged boots with time and wear. Take care and best wishes for you.
@@feastingonmetal8503 I'm expecting them no sooner than March. Anything before that will be a gift!
They have their unique way of doing the welt, with an extra piece of leather similar to the upper leather
I noticed that, I find it is very interesting.
These monkey boots look very light looking by the way you are handling them. In my guess leather used in these boots are less than 4-5 Oz . Does not look very promising.
They are very light, definetely not for hard work, but they will do fine. I am mostly curious to see how this leather will change. I will post updates, Thank you for stopping by. Take care.
This color will not patina well.
I was hoping to develop more color on them, It didnt happened but they did fine. With time they will get darker but that patina challenge is now done. Thank you for your comment. Best wishes for you.
