I’m pricing for a similar Job, which you could be also . St Giles Church Lockton. I can’t find anyone locally to me (Malton). Would you be interested in doing this or do you know of anyone that covers my area. Cheers
I’ve been asked to price for 4no at 100mm x 300mm.
I thought you weren’t supposed to use lime plaster below 5°C?
Crazy to see this super young looking guy taking care of that super old church.. makes me wonder if like the ppl that built it could peer into the future they would be so impressed & greatful w the amount of knowledge this young man has
This mortiser will rock to clean out the scallops

Top work fellas, Now you've got it , you'll wonder how you managed before 👍🤣
How did you get into this sort of work. I’m a plasterer. Been doing Venetian plastering and microcement solely for the last 6 years. But always had a passion for working on old building.
Fantastic bit of kit. Saves your guys schlepping up lift after lift of scaff, humping heavy gear. They can now do the more productive bits without being needlessly knackered. Nice one.
This is one of them moments when you reflect and think....why didn't we get on earlier.
i couldnt watch this today because there was a plumber in my house and i didnt want him to see that i watch this. im not a renovator hahhaha i dont think he would understand the deep love i have for a decently restored old building. i see cement repairs and i just go tut tut these days hahah its all about the lime!
Love the comment, thanks for posting. It is all about the lime 👍
@@UKRestorationServices We have the same issues here in Australia with old buildings. But with a lot less moisture. But still salt damp and a loss of the technologies that were used to build the houses when the colonists came. Actually in one particular local cellar door there is a wall you dont lean on because it's mud mortar from the 1860s. You get quite dusty if you do. No lime !
That is a great idea!
Think back to using the hoist with 10 slates on or the gin wheel. 😬
im restoring an old stone house.i wasnt aware of limecrete floors and i installed a concrete slab.since i m more into natural building shall i remove the concrete and make limecrete slab instead OR install limecrete slab on top of concrete?would appreciate ur opinion
Hi thanks for the comment. I would not recommend installing the limecrete over the concrete. If you have good external water levels and good drainage around the building it would just leave the concrete. It is more important to control the external factors. This needs to be done even when installing limecrete, like in the video. Rather than remove the concrete use the funds to externally repoint, improve drainage etc. Limecrete is preferred but not essential.
Looks like the definition of 'work smarter, not harder', great piece of kit!
Thanks, think we would have struggled to convince the guys to load by hand!!! Its all about efficiency
Nice bit of kit ❤❤
The guys on site love it.
Was that Grasmere church?
Hi, yes this is Grasmere church. Thanks for watching
Must be a bitch to clean that mixer.
Great video, great work - keep up the craftsmanship!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video.
Great video! Is it possible to use just an NHL3.5 and sand mix, using chunks of other aggregate such as crushed roof tiles for changes in texture?
Hi, thank you for the comment, glad you liked the video. Yes you could use a NHL3.5. However, I would advise leaving to slake overnight if you are using only NHL3.5 with no Calcium Oxide. This will make the harl more sticky!!
Is the gravel 6 to10 mm pea gravel ?
Hi, yes defiantly pea gravel can be used.
Must be difficult pricing these jobs. Im guessing some sharp sand and NHL for the packing mix?
We had the structural engineer's design to work from for pricing. The packing mortar was 1:1:6. This was only used to fill between the timbers and masonry. We needed a mortar with greater compressive than an NHL.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching 👍
Well thanks to you, Clitheroe is now definitely on the itinerary for my upcoming tour of the UK. I bet it is stunning when the sun shines - if the rain ever stops this year! I never would have thought abot going there without seeing this. I vaguely remember "The Clitheroe Kid" on the radio from my childhood and wondered what the name was all about. Nice one.
I would definitely recommend a visit there. Stunning views for the top. Fantastic little town as well.
Nice find!
Nice
A sensible, pragmatic fix in the circumstances. Sure,in an ideal world it would have been the full works but reality and budgets-as you mentioned- can have other ideas so a good compromise.
Sometimes, budgets dictate what's possible. Thanks for the comment 👍
Beautiful Church. Good compromise within budget too. Where experience counts! Keep the videos coming : )
Sometimes you just have to do what you can. Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍
nice
Meanwhile, the leader of pendle Council builds an extension without planning, then gets it passed !! I'm frustrated for you. Absolute *****
Hi, thanks for the comment. things have moved on since this video. We will be uploading the next chapter to this in 4-8 weeks. You are correct, it would seem developers and others have a very easy ride through planning. It would suggest foul play!!! The problem is that the LPO's and the planning department answer to no-one and hide behind policies.
Your accent ? I'm going to say Colne in Lancashire? Great video BTW
Good guess, Burnley but on the Colne boarder. Glad you like the video 😁
Where you guys based? North east? I'm based in South Tyne side, if you are about for some good old proper building. I live in a 200 year old house, redhead the famous ship builder. This house has alot of history and deserves to be maintained properly
Out of interest who funds the repair?
The local council has instructed us to undertake this work. Hopefully, they will be billing the contractors.
Nice one fellas, same thing happened to one of our mile markers here in the midlands! They are big triangle cast iron, and theres hundreds dotted all over, i think they are from the 1920, don't know if they are listed? Cheers,
The mile markers kinda get forgotten about, but they should be preserved.
Beautiful hedging. Stunning scenery. A great vid. Shame about the damage. Those flails are pretty indiscriminate.
Brilliant little job for a Saturday. The flail mowers take not prisoners!!
Love this brilliant if only I had some land maybe one day😊
The tower was a fairly easy build. The barn owls have now moved in 😁
@@UKRestorationServices ok I'm really jealous 😆
Top tier commentary, I liked the herbs and spices joke. Lots of very interesting demos, good to learn from.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wanna juxtapose this with the tour of a drywall plant, and the living conditions of their laborers in the drywall plant
Boys own stuff
Great video, thank you. Can I ask why you aren't using a hot lime mortar?
Thank you for the positive comment. The samples in the video were to determine mainly colour. Now we have approval on colour, we are adjusting the mixes.
Thank you, it'll be interesting to see the updates on this one as it progresses - I hope the weather is kind to you!@@UKRestorationServices
If you were called Bardfield you would have no problem burnley council just a joke
They are just about to start ripping up more of the countryside on Rossendale Rd to build another industrial estate. Then we are just trying to rebuild 1 house. Council are clueless and very bias toward big developers.
Interesting video 👍 A lot of preparation goes in to the job, thanks for the video 👍
Thanks for the comment. Just a quick insite.
Astounding amount of work carried out in the background before the heavy lifting begins. It is absolutely essential to have a good relationship with the Historical/ Conservation Officers. I live in a listed house and know exactly how this relationship works. Things that you thought might be a massive problem (or impossible) can be achieved if you talk.If either party sets out with bad attitude, the project is pretty much a total nightmare right from the get go. Good to know that that particular piece of history is in your safe hands.
Totally agree. We speak to many frustrated people who expect the conservation officers to tell them everything they need to do. However it's the applicants duty to find the information and professionals needed. If you have the right team behind you Conservation officers are very accommodating.
Are you using lime putty and sand for 1st coat? what do you use for 2nd and 3rd coat?? David
Yes the base and float coat are hot mixed with Calbux and used hot. The top coat is mixed hot but used cold. This is except the laths which I think on this was mixed with 50% NHL 3.5
Can I say something about the growth of your channel?
Course
Hello, I have seen the videos on your channel(). The content on your channel is excellent. I enjoyed watching the video and learned a lot. But your channel optimization could use some work. See, there is a problem with your channel. SEO of your videos is essential. Not only is your video SEO friendly, but video SEO is critical. Also, your video thumbnail is not that good If you don't do enough video SEO and don't provide high-res thumbnails then your channel will not grow well. As a result, your business will not improve. Thank you.
The music is totally distracting and unnecessary, I want to hear what is being said, not the thump thump thump of the beat. Please, drop the racket.
Thanks for the comment.....noted.
Dudes rock!
I totally agree! It's like listening to music on some boring induction video on a building site 😂. Very good explanation though.
@@MrDziuka dudes rock tho
@@UKRestorationServices some people can't hold themselves when it comes to complain about everything... and yet, they can't make better... the video is nice. I didn't even noticed the music in the background, because my attention was on the work and on the explanations 👍💪
Art work at it's finest
Masks, no excuses masks.
Hi, Great video! I'm limecreting a floor on my house, it's 4.5m x 5m . If I can't do it all in one day, is there anything I should do to make the joins work okay? I'm concerned there might be problems with drying times although the total drying time doesn't bother me.
Hi, no issue with having a night joint on the floor. We normally step the joint, cutting a neat line makes it easier to joint the next day. There won't be an issue with the drying times. Best to leave a few weeks before covering, but you should be able to walk / work on it after 2-3 days.
Your explanations make sense , and I feel your pain However just from the looks it appears to be an industrial site to those not in the know.
Hey, it does look concrete heavy at the moment. Once the agriculture building goes in, this will be covered. Hoping to get a Plant building to the rear of the house which will cover the other retaining wall. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs comes to mind 👍
Wow, what an education. Experts.
6:18 so what kind of prep to the floor did you do.....vapor barrier or other aggregates compacted?
On this one, we just excavated the floor. The existing sub-ground was dense and hard. We have on other projects compacted a limestone down where the ground is softer. 6 could just install more Glypor. We use a none woven geotextile onto the sub-ground. This sheeting is then folded onto the top of the glypor. We generally glue this together.
So moisture can pass through this textile fine?@@UKRestorationServices
Your situation Makes me feel so angry !! So i can imagine how you feel, One look at that wildlife tower, would tell everyone how you do things, All your work is 100%, Best of luck for the future 👍
Its been 3 years now battling the planners. Their short sighted view is systemic in the town. Developers house or industrial carving up fields in Burnley with little respect for the quality of development and environmental issues. The planners need to held accountable for their decisions and I'm the guy that's going to do it. We have had some developments since this video was recorded. Hopefully doing another one very soon. Thanks for Watching 👍
