Perkins Garage

My name is Matt, and I'm just an average blue-collar guy with an average blue-collar intellect and vocabulary. Trying to build a 1970 chevelle the way I want, while also working on other projects that include a 1976 chevy square body name "Fred", a 2008 Trailblazer SS that is my wife's daily driver, and a 2008 Silverado 2500HD duramax named "The Murderado" that is the family truckster/tow pig.

P.S. My daily driver while I was in the military was a 1970 Malibu Chevelle, clone SS, small block 350ci, TH350, yellow with black stripes... I drove that thing all over southern California.

I stopped using AC Delco plugs R43, R45 cause R44 are NLA and AC are junk now. I tried NGK, ya not bad but I’m currently using Autolite 306 in my 70 Z/28 and like them. They are a 13/16 plug non extended plug. Get the highest vacuum when setting the idle mixture screws using a vacuum gauge. You will likely need to jet down the primary Holley jets to lean it out. I use a long straight spark plug boot to install my plugs before I torque them. I kept some original long boots from my 87 Grand Nat’l. Mixture screws lean out turning clockwise, and to richen you turn counterclockwise.

A 454 bored 0.030 is considered a 460 c.i. To achieve a 468 c.i. displacement that engine would have to be bored 0.060. So either you are quoting the wrong bore or the wrong c.i.

Yup, you're right I never claimed to be smart, or a machinist. I'm just an asshole that wanted to have a big block chevelle. And now I do, and it's going to be labeled 454. 🍻

On my dad's 70 Camaro we chased an electrical issue. We tried a few things, new battery and stuff. It seemed to help at first but the issue would come back. Lights acting funny and starting issues. Come to find out the grounds were not good. We ran grounds to the frame from the battery. Then frame to the body. The ground was already run to the motor but we cleaned paint off the connection. Seemed like everything worked better after that. Oh and ground the core support as well. I know we painted everything as we were restoring the car and tried really hard to not scratch anything. That is great looking but doesn't transfer grounds very well.

3970010 used to be the block everyone wanted. Now everybody wants an ls. 3970014 is the block dad had in his 70 Camaro. Those can be 2 and 4 bolt mains so you have to check them.

I have been there. Bought a truck with a "rebuilt" motor. It had a ticking sound that i thought was a exhaust leak. Ended up having four cracked pistons. I think they either cracked them pounding them in or they used starting fluid to start it. I was amazed that all it had was a tick.

@@perkinsgarage27 I have a core support that is in way better condition than yours. It's a little thin under the battery which they all are but solid otherwise. It's from a 79. Looking to get $100 for it. I also have a 4 Speed manual trans with a granny first that has the 205 adaptor. It's from a 70 Chevy truck I had and was running and driving. Could probably use a rebuild if you want it perfect but I drove it for a year and it works as is. Looking to get $400 for the trans and adaptor. The adapter is really the valuable part.

Gotta love the chevelles I just picked up a basket case 71 it's going to be a minute until I'm driving it. Speaking of driving the 700r4 can be a b*tch. If that TV cable isn't adjusted correctly it'll do what you're talking about. And it doesn't take long to burn them up like this. How's it doing?

I've been around the world, man, I've gotten to smell a lot of things. Transmission seems to be doing good. I've made some adjustments, and it's a good firm shift into 2nd around 18mph and it goes through all the gears nicely now. I've got close to 400 miles on the motor and trans now. It's been fun.

My biggest fear with my 200-4r transmission in my 1986 Monte Carlo SS is the cable not being adjusted properly and destroying the transmission. I had my transmission built like grand national guys to handle huge power levels, someday when I add a new engine I will have to get adaptor for whatever carburetor I use.

I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better. And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊 Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄 I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏 Amen. I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊 '' CREATOR, LORD GOD, Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. '' Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol. Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer: "CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen" Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 😊 try to do it everyday if you want repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to: "Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen." Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can I apologize for all the words 😊 I know how it may look
