Yeh, I ofund that interesting as well. The Métis people speak Michif, a language that blends indigenous languages (mainly Cree or Ojibwe) with French elements. In Michif, they use different verb forms to indicate whether something was directly witnessed by the speaker or is based on reported or hearsay evidence. This grammatical distinction in verb forms appears connected to the Métis way of life, where passing down stories, traditions, and skills was done orally. So, the grammatical difference in Michif between direct and reported evidence helps speakers not only share information but also convey the source or manner in which they acquired that information. I found that unique, or at least never heard of it before, but turns out that distinguishing between direct and reported evidence through verb forms is not unique to Michif; it exists in various languages (like Aymara, Quechua, Turkish, and Tibetan) and is known as evidentiality. Answer.., we shouldn't... No one should think cultural preparation is a danger ...It's meaningless.. It's literally how the entire world has existed and traded and exchanged communicated with each other for all of human history by sharing customs and cultural practices... No one has a monopoly on a certain aspect of a culture... You people are getting pettier and pettier... Just When I think you can't find a more esoteric asinine piece of dribble of a concept of a field... You Go and surprise me and come up with all of this meaningless valueless... Gibberish. Congratulations! You are a hamster on a spinning wheel not hooked to anything., Literally spinning in circles. Expending effort for no value.. at all.. your work product is in no way helpful for human progress in any way shape or form... This artifice of manufactured racial tension and microscopic attention to a meetup marker of identity is the only fuel that keeps your bullshit woke academic funding machine rolling... If we hadn't had the industrial revolution.. If we were still living in subsistence... If you all have to put in an honest day's work.. of physical effort.. Have to test your strength against the elements... No way... Not a chance... No one's making it

Social psychology in particular and psychology in general are NOT the scientific study of the causes of overt behavior. How sad this bloviation is. And form the experts?! Subjective construal?! I defy any of these mavens to provide a definition of this term (or virtually any of the terms they trade in). The basic message is "we are a science since we use scientific methods". Ugh. Necessity is not sufficiency. Basic logic is clearly not taught (at least, not learned) in graduate programs in psychology. Social psychology as a venue for understanding the human mind is equivalent to believing that alchemy is basic to understanding the formation of metallic elements.

It is NOT the "scientific " study of thoughts. By definition it cannot be. So, we begin with a false claim. Psychological science is the conceptual equivalent of a married bachelor. Oh well, the up votes for this remind me that Hershel Walker is in a tight race.

"Everybody knows what personality is?" Incredible! First, just because everybody has an X does not logically imply everyone knows what an X is (e.g., life, consciousness...). Second, psychology has NO idea what mental states and dispositions consist in. The best they can do is point at behaviors they assume are related to those invisible mental ephemera. The scientific study of personality (or psychology) is a conceptual oxymoron. What are the units of analysis that have any conceptual or mathematical heft? What are the units of shyness, thought, etc.? (And please, no likert scale misrepresentations of mathematical formalities). Short answer -- there are none. The scientific study of behavior is potentially possible. It is not a current reality. And behavior is not the same as its underlying causes (an effect is not the cause of itself). It would be a wonderful if psychologists actually understood what the term science denotes. It would be even more striking if psychology understood what their stipulated, under specified concepts and theories referenced. Don't bet the house this will happen in your lifetime. Yes there can be psychological knowledge. It is definitively not (by the definition of science) scientific knowledge. Simply Delusional (as per psychology's current diagnostic manual definition).

this epidemic of inclusion is destroying everything, people can do what they choose to do, some people should do what they should do, it's alright for military to be predominantly comprised of male and household be run by mothers, structure in family is good for developing child in a functioning society, however if mothers choose to have careers that's alright too, just don't pursuade people to do things that they shouldn't do

Diversity trainings at the workplaces are HELL. You have to agree with everything the woke ideologists say, because if not, you lose your job. If you ask a common sense question which might hint at that you have other than 100% woke thoughts on the topic, you lose your job. And they always say you are free to speak your mind, but it is always a trap. If you believe them and what you say is not 100% woke, you lose your job. For those who don't know, diversity trainings are workplace woke indoctrination events, during which we straight white males are being lectured that we are the evil & privileged & racist & homopohobe & patriarchal oppressors of every living thing under the sun. You can't imagine the hate and resentment we feel towards diversity trainings, which of course we have to hide and smile and pretend that we are woke, because otherwise we lose our jobs.

*_01:45_**_ if we can change a person's situation we can optimize their lives right we can actually change human life forever by making changes to people's situations worse personality psychologists were like but wait there are things about a person that they carry with them wherever they go that you can't manipulate in an experiment_* With all due respect, I'm just not satisfied with what she has to say about these two fields and to think of them solely from a rational scientific means gets us nowhere by the simply fact that humans are so fucking irrational. You don't need to be a psychologist to know that. We have so many problems facing us right now. Whether it's Covid deniers, climate change deniers, political corruption, televangelist who reap millions from their congregation, crimes of passion, and all manner of violence that we perpetrate towards each other. All because we are highly irrational and its making us stupid. Those who are highly educated are no exception. We go about with all this research ad nausaum which becomes an end in itself and all the while those in power are corrupting reality with all kinds of lies and conspiracy theories. The news media are no exception. The masses of people have no idea they are being duped hence they become dumb and stupid and then we wonder why the emotional and psychological evolution of humanity crawls at a snail's pace. as Dr Robert Firestone said *_Our society actually exists as a kind of negative afterimage. We all live in a crazy, backward world, often unaware of the lies and double messages we are given. If we could be free for a moment to catch a glimpse of our true situation, if we could view our society as a visitor from another planet, we would be stunned at the nightmare in which we live. The things we are expected to believe about ourselves and about society are frequently the very opposite of the way things really are. Unhappily, the individual and all the members of our society are often unconsciously working together to maintain a largely defensive and dishonest way of living_* With few exceptions, those in our mental health field do not see the urgency that we face as the masses lose their regard for truth and willingness to accept it no matter how they may feel of the outcome. Our political leaders are a disgrace to humanity as they go about with their constant lying and bickering; it's like a bad marriage and there is no one to tell them to shut the fuck up and stop their madness because it's making everyone else mad! With few exceptions, sociologists and psychologist live in their own bubble. Hence they cannot see that our human propensity to be irrational is far greater than they realize and very dangerous. They only scholar and researcher that I know who was not afraid to call out the danger in our political system is Dr. Bandy Lee. It's a disgrace that our mental health providers have said nothing about the many ways our sick society has adverse effects on our emotional well being.

Instead of encouraging white and male persons to be less white and less male how about the other team try being less of what they are and more white and male..... you will then be able to compete. We are not slowing down so you can catch up. You must move faster and accurately to compete. Wow, so few comments demonstrate the lack of true interest.

The Affective Neuroscience of Positive Thinking Positive thinking ‘works’, but works best ‘affectively’ when performed persistently while in a relaxed state. Below is the neuroscience behind this simple idea, which can be easily tested if one gives this slight modification of positive thinking a try. And it all has to do with the neuroscience of pleasure. Unlike other functions in the brain, from perception to thinking, the neural source of our pleasures are localized in the brain as specialized groups of nerve cells or ‘nuclei’, or ‘hot spots’, located in the mid-brain. These nuclei receive inputs from different sources in the nervous system, from proprioceptive stimuli (neuro-muscular activity) to interoceptive stimuli (satiation and deprivation) to cognitive stimuli (novel positive or negative means-end expectancies), and all modulate the activity of these nuclei which release or inhibit endogenous opioids that elicit the rainbow of pleasures which mark our day. For example, relaxation induces opioid activity and is pleasurable, but tension inhibits it and is painful. Similarly, satiation inhibits our pleasure when we eat, and deprivation or hunger increases it. Finally, positive novel means-ends expectancies enhance our pleasures, and negative expectancies inhibit them. Thus, for our sensory pleasures (eating, drinking), watching an exciting movie makes popcorn taste better than when watching a dull or depressing movie. This also applies to when we are relaxed, as thinking or performing meaningful activity is reflected in ‘flow’ or ‘peak’ experiences when we are engaging in highly meaningful behavior while relaxed. (Meaning will be defined as anticipated or current behavior that has branching novel positive implications, such as creating art, doing good deeds or productive work) But again, don’t mind this verbiage, just prove it to yourself Just get relaxed using a relaxation protocol such as progressive muscle relaxation, eyes closed rest, or mindfulness, and then follow it by exclusively attending to or performing meaningful activity, or in other words, positive thinking, and avoiding all meaningless activity or ‘distraction’. Keep it up and you will not only stay relaxed, but continue so with a greater sense of wellbeing or pleasure. The attribution of affective value to meaningful behavior makes the latter seem ‘autotelic’, or reinforcing in itself, and the resultant persistent attention to meaning crowds out the occasions we might have spent dwelling on other unmeaningful worries and concerns.
