A friend of my Mom's was at the Latin Casino in NJ with the ladies in their pinochle group & she had real dianond jewelry on and Liberace noticed her in the audience and said, I'm glad to see someone else is making out good too. The place cracked up. Liberate was a very sweet man and hugely talented & a truly real showman and his shows were loaded with men too not just women. Everyone loved him. Jack Benny was the funniest straight faced comedian who brought joy to alot of people also!!

I met him once when I was 16 and was invited back to his mansion for dinner along with my family. It got uncomfortable real quick when mom & dad left to see the entire mansion with a female assistant, They left my brother 14 and me 16 alone with Lee. I'm not going to say any details but I don't know how he sued & won some London Newsrag about their story of him being gay. I could have verified it but also didn't want to out myself then either. My poor baby brother. I couldn't protect him. And I live with that guilt. RIP Matthew and even an RIP for you Lee.

I never missed watching and loving his sunday evening show in the 1950s when I was a child. He was a child prodigy and a genius on the piano. He could have been a great classical pianist but he wanted to be a flamboyant entertainer instead, and he possibly made a lot more money as a entertainer. I loved his genius way back then and still do to this day. Gone but not forgotten. His musical genius will never die.

In Italia non è conosciuto. Una certa risonanza ha avuto il film a lui dedicato.interpretato da Michael Douglas ma comunque rimane un personaggio poco noto

His hands are amazing, flying over the keyboard and always landing in the right place. And at times his whole body is bouncing with joy. I'm so glad I am able to watch this.

I only just recently *really discovered Liberace (I remember watching him as a kid in the 80s with my grandparents, who loved him since the 50s). I just love him, and can easily see why he was so popular! He truly brings joy and honestly seemed to have a heart of gold. We can only hope he's shining on in Heaven. God Rest! <3 <3

After Liberace’s death, Phyllis Diller said he was not a very good pianist. That was nice of her after pretending to be his friend for many years. ☹️😡

It's often said that Liberace wasn't in the same league as the strictly classical concert pianists of his day. To some extent that may be true, though the technique for his music was very different and just as demanding. However, this recording shows that he had all the hallmarks of a great classical technique. Much respect ought to be given for the fact that he chose to go in a direction which would make piano music accessible to a huge number of people who otherwise would never have set foot in a concert hall.

We serious pianists tend to disparage Liberace for “selling out” to become a cheap entertainer. This video proves he could play the piano with the best of us. I have no doubt he could have made a career as a traditional concert pianist. He was very gifted. I wonder why the clear piano lid has never become standard. It enables the audience to see the orchestra, and the pianist can see the conductor through it, if necessary. It still projects the sound, as originally designed.

I loved Liberace. On top of all his showmanship, he loved his fans most of all, and would talk and tell stories to complete strangers. I love the candelabra on the oven!
