Any Kyoto recommendations for vintage drums?
brevity
New series idea for you. Help people who sold their old valuable equipment get it back somehow. Hellp!
I want my vintage acoustic gibson j45 back
Did you see any acoustic j45? I want to buy mine back so bad
Do you come to shows in Seattle? I'm loving your videos. I can hardly play but I have a thing for guitars.
Beautiful sights and beautiful guitars😍
Loved the "What Are You Looking For" beginning; I'd see a vintage Rick Turner Model 1 and immediately take out a second mortgage . Someday...
Count how many times he says "cool". It's a lot!
My very first guitar was found in a pawn shop on West Bay Street, in Jacksonville ... 1963. A 1954 Stratocaster. Drove past Mock two days ago. Did you guys miss Kevin's?
Do you see many lefties in Japan? I didn't catch a single one in this video haha!
I would think that a gibson acoustic,, at that price, should be durable enough to not worry about the tempurature fluctuations and such. My grandpa bought a martin guitar around 1970 and travelled everywhere with it, and it is still in perfect condition. But also back then they built them a bit more heavy duty. Now they use scalloped bracing which increases volume and tone, but reduces the strength and regidity of the top a bit. But in the 70s I'm pretty sure they still used regular bracing which would make the top a bit stronger and more rigid.
お茶の水いけば中古も新品も世界一だと思う
Guys, thanks for sharing the footage of your journey through the guitar shops in Japan. Really enjoyed it!🙏🏻🎧🎸
I see Kaylie is left-handed. Congratulations to her. What does an LP Junior double cut look like with the pick guard removed? Does it leave a 'shadow' where the guard was?
Isn't that usual palette behavior?
Are you shipping back the guitars? If so, how much about is it to ship it back?
Wow, that’s cool ! I was over there also around the same time frame !, Beautiful country !
Man, you guys really need to add some closeups in post. Such a tease
Jimmy Wallace’s feels more like a museum than a guitar shop. Did you buy that blue 339? I might have to go see if they still have it. Tone Shop is the best.
i bought my first strat from here just after the store opened. i then found the same strat from ikeba gakki a few weeks later for way cheaper, with better aftersales support. its way overpriced compared to other stores in the area
4:00. Was that 2 Fender BOXER SERIES bass guitars in Metallic red?
I'm drooling over that Gibson Les Paul Traditional; I sold mine back in the day and have been low key looking for another one recently.
I went to Kinko music last October and it was glorius. Love that place
You should go to Nico Nico guitars in Tokyo - Shibuya. High end guitars used (mainly custom shops and so on) but for really good prices
SCORE!!!
We get up to the Black Mountain area (near Ashville) about twice a year. What are the names of the thrift store and vinyl shop you visited? Really enjoyed your video, btw.
Glad to see everyone starting to pay attention to Oklahoma. I’ve lived here all my 28 years of life. The music is alive and well here. You guys need to check out The Blue Door here in Oklahoma City, it was built and owned by a man named Kevin Welch. Saw in 2001 his first show for his top album “Beneath My Wheels” great music and local talent raised at TBD.
I saw a black star fire …. just like mine. probably 65’ maybe …. great blues guitar
gotta check out stratacrazy in Tokyo.
What an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing this! ❤
What a great video. I’ve long wanted to travel to Japan and Kyoto is one of the top destinations on my list. It is so beautiful. Reminds me of a Miyazaki film.
I Bought That 1974 55 reissue the next day, Tickled to see you see it too.
I live near Savannah. Sometime in the 90s, Portmans had a used Yamaha SG2000 transparent brown with gold hardware for $350. I almost bought it, but didn't. I regret it to this day! Also, Randy Wood restored my Sears Roebuck Buck Owens acoustic. They were awesome to work with.
Now, this was awesome! Thanks!
Visit Japan bring an umbrella
As a guitarist resident in Kyoto, I always recommend also checking the used stores, 2nd Street, sometimes you can find some real gems that mean nothing to the shop staff. Enjoyed this video. All the best.
The guitar game is pretty weak in Charleston. I live here.
Great!
Any of the Anime imaged guitar pedals... been looking for those for my collection...any ideas or maybe you picked some up?
My dad bought me a complete Slingerland kit when I was 7 yrs old. It was metallic green. I played drums with our Choir teacher on piano when we’d go to rest homes and play for the folks. When I turned 13,girls didn’t seem so “ Yucky” anymore and a kit was too much to haul around to impress them so I traded them in on a U.S. Made Epiphone acoustic in 1973,and the rest is history.
I just turned 63 and have never had a fish “taco”.Something just doesn’t sound right about those 2 words being used together. It’s kinda like Meat “Loaf”.
I thought this COST 2000 pounds and I was like ... dude I'll invest another 2000 pounds.
Walked right pass a J Mascis jazz master, the killer deal. Who remembers Don's pawn shop? If we only had a time machine.
That was my favorite place to go when I was in high school! First time I ever saw a Pre-CBS strat!
Jimmy Wallace is an excellent shop. I bought a heritage custom core h150 there and love it. The guy at 14:01 sold it to me. He’s great! They also have a great luthier that’s fixed two of my guitars.
It’s a shame American stores don’t stock and display nearly the depth and selection of American guitars that Japanese stores do…😂
Don’t understand why you would buy a regular Gibson SG standard ( with shitty pale rosewood board too) and a LP Traditional that can easily be found in the U.S. for probably less money? I would get if they color/finish/spec exclusives for Japan but not for regular ones.
Do you ever have any of your customers bring you things from other vendors for you to evaluate for them?
Well…..it could be RAINING.
Only question I have: How much did it cost to ship all of your gear?
