    The show was repulsive and does nothing to actually approach Star Wars on any front, other than to use its lore and reference its characters. It put in Darth Plageus and Yoda to try and manufacture buzz for it but it didn't work because the story is garbage. The characters are bland and the scenes are excessively boring. Characters make choices out of NOWHERE with no build up and all relationships are watered down to simple witless banter where nothing gets accomplished. I'm sorry if I sound like all of those other detractors, but they are 99.9% correct in pretty much all of their actual assessments when they say that this was a travesty of a series. I even attempted to watch every single episode but I just couldn't. The dialogue, the characters, the story and everything that matters is absolutely tossed aside for stupid identity politics and de-facing the Jedi because Kathleen Kennedy truly hates everything and everyone.

    Nothing is breaking canon in this show. Legends isn't canon. Yoda is there at the end for a reason, mostly for those who read the high republic books.

    Lost interest when guy on left tried to say that a Sith Lord who encouraged and went on to butcher numerous Jedi wasn’t an “inherently bad person” Calls him kind just cause while he’s manipulating osha he does all these nice things…?

    I love Kevin Costners previous Westerns, especially Dances With Wolves. I really dont think he would screw up in a genre he is so passionate about. I cant wait to see Chapter 1 and the rest of this saga

    that would be great! although Netflix has recently tried to stay clear of investing lots of money in auteur projects. But if they do, that would certainly help with getting the series to a larger audience

    All I'll say is you should absolutely watch the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven. The characters are actually fleshed out and their decisions make much more sense. One of his best films imo, up there with The Last Duel and Gladiator if you ask me.

    Apocalypse Now had reviews that were varied when it first came out, but now it is considered a classic. My hope is that this is another movie that takes a while to appreciate.

    4:29 Why Garland, why did you make the third act like that! It bothers me so much because I think it could have become a sci-fi classic if it hadn`t turned into a slasher movie at the end. It's mostly forgotten today and I guess it is because of that choice.

    "Men" is widely misunderstood as a "feminist, men-hating" film. Besides, it's one of the most beautifully shot movies of recent years.

    i completely disagree with my fellow aussie about annihiliation, it's completely rewatchable, i've got a 4K version that i watch every month or two.

  • @QuietOnSetPodcast
    @QuietOnSetPodcast2 ай бұрын

    That has got to look incredible on 4K. What makes it so rewatchable for you? The world? The characters? A combination of both or something different?

  • @fuzzjunky

    @@QuietOnSetPodcast yeh the environment is of course beautiful. but some of the monologues bare fruit with mulitple watchings and the journey itself is worth taking more than once. the characters are a good range of troubled. perfect protagonists. there are some prime scenes that are fantastic like the pool/cam/knife scene which are visually perfect and the gene mingling stuff is more obvious on second view, and it doesn't have a stupid happy ending but one that you have to wrestle with.

    I read the whole Souther Reach trilogy because of the film - I have to say it's not worth it. The first book, which the film is based on, is a good read. But after that, the most intriguing part of this world, Area X, hardly plays a role any more and the story and characters are somewhat convolutely written.

  • @solokom
    @solokom2 ай бұрын

    I agree I also watched it like 5 times since its release, also in 4K one time. Visually it's absolutely intriguing and the idea of Area X (or The Shimer as it's called in the film), the characters and world-building offer a lot to unravel. To see it at 6.8 on IMDB is painful. Many people couldn't handle the cosmic horror of the Final act, I guess.

    annihilation is one of my faves of all time [ i hate that a lot of sci-fi lovers don't like this because of the mostly female cast] . maybe sunshine and dredd aswell are on my fave list. love them.

  • @solokom
    @solokom2 ай бұрын

    If you are a sci-fi lover and dislike a film solely for its female cast, you are not a sci-fi lover, IMHO. Besides, it's even adressed in the movie why that is.

    So why is that award winning director narcissistic compared to others? Spielberg wanted to make a similar point with Schindlers List regarding the girl in the red coat too how glaringly obvious she was yet still ignored just made another statistic. I don't have much desire to see the film or Openheimer either but I am sensitive enough still to the historical relevance of the subject matter.
