Good luck to you trying to put Ren into one of your genre lists😁 and the more you listen to him the more you'll understand why. I don't mean that he use different genres in the same song but his songs are all over the place in a very good way. I recommend you to create a list for the genre "Ren" because he's his own genre or you can call it "Barcore". I hope you continues to react to Ren's music. 🤓🇸🇪
I haven’t been excited by an artist in a LONG TIME. Then came Ren. He is an incredibly rare and special individual. This piece of ART, this performance piece, had me sitting in stunned silence the first time I heard it. Then I inexplicably and suddenly burst into tears. And I’m not a crier. His back story is amazing. He’s a beautiful soul. He is a modern day Shakespearean bard. Stunning work. Check out Money Game 1-3. More single shot videos that are astonishing. Live Chalk Outlines is stunning and haunting.
The captions on this video are AWFUL. They ruin it. He’s very easy to understand despite the speed or accent.

Hello Seth and welcome to Nightwish. Gabriel Bardac already gave you a lot of info about the band with all the right links. It is fun to see a young band with their first leadsinger Tarja. Although she has a lovely and warm voice I must be honest and say that I like their 3rd and current singer Floor Jansen a lot more. She is able to really tell the story with her voice. In most cases people recommend "Ghost Love Score" (THE song with the most views on YT, 34 mln) as to draw a lot of attention, our NW Army is HUGE, but I think for you that "Song of Myself" from the Wacken (Vah-ken, Germany) 2013 concert is a good song to continue your journey! Hey there. Not the typical start for someone dipping their toe in the Deep, Deep Nightwish waters. However it's a great song, with a great singer. I started my Nightwish Journey with the Wacken 2013 concert, but you know what... It's great to see someone go more from the beginning. It might be really nice to react to a few more of the original singer (Tarja), and I can see people are already giving good suggestions, and then you can go from there into their more recent catalog. End of an Era is great concert. I still like more From Wishes to Eternity (been in both) More a less because the atmosphere was incredible and band was young with full of joy and talent. But anyway you can find the master piece of heavy (Master Passion Greed), commercial main stream song with the most heated singer (I don't know why) Bye Bye Beautiful etc. I just recommended to start Oceanborn.
You gotta see Phantom of The Opera and Planet Hell from this same show! Both of them are duets between the lead singer and the bass player.

Forestella member Kang Hung Ho has done Phantom of the Opera. You have to listen to it. There a three versions. Thefirst one is what he used for his audition on Phantom singers program that resulted in the forming of Forestella 7 years back. He later sang it on a tv program 4 years back. But recently ( 3 weeks back) he sang it again on Immortal Songs2 by KBS along with a brilliant pianist Oh Eun Cheol. The episode was to honor the famous musical director Kim moon Jeong the lady judge who first recognized Kang’s talent. In three weeks this video already has more than a million views. In all three cases Kang performs Christine and Phantom’s part.
I’ve done Phantom but sadly found the absolute worst version as the video is choppy and poorly edited. I’ll likely revisit it and do a good quality production down the road.

This live recording is from Helsinki in 2005, then together with Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tar-rya], the 1st female singer of the band. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. I so wish we could get through one, just ONE reaction to Hi Ren without hearing Eminem from anyone except the singer. It actually nauseates me anytime Ren is compared to Marshall; Ren is way, WAY more talented and innovative than Eminem could ever be; and believe it or not, I’m an Eminem fan. It’s seriously comparing apples to flattened spare tires.

Oh get over it. You don’t think Ren himself would be stoked to be compared to the best rapper of all friggin time?! Honestly, I think Ren would be the first person to say not to diss other artists… especially not the GOAT. Ren is a once in a lifetime ARTIST. Musicians are a dime a dozen. It takes an incredibly unique and amazing individual to rise to the level of TRUE ARTIST. That doesn’t require disrespect of anyone else.

All band members you've seen here were from Finland. This was back in 2005 and the singer's last show (her not knowing it at this point!). Since 2013 they have a dutch singer (Floor) and a british multi-instrumentalist (Troy). In between they had another singer (Annette). The only ones who did not change throughout the years is the keyboarder and composer (Tuomas) and the guitarist (Emppu). There is a lot of different stuff to discover - it's a deeeep rabbit hole. 🙂 In which direction would you like to go? They do have recent stuff, but I think that's not what you should do next.
It’s odd because I’ve seen their name around so much over the years but never really took the time to check to check em out. My mind is blown. It’s just beautiful harmonic metal!
