Lawncology: Next Level Lawns
Lawncology: Next Level Lawns
What's up everybody! Thank you for landing on my channel. I am proud to be bringing over 25 years of landscape, turf management, fertilizer and soil amendment research and development, and insider industry knowledge to this channel. As the owner of Greene County Fertilizer Company, I wanted a channel that was not directly related to my company so that I could share on more topics, answer questions about a multitude of products and concepts and be an overall resource for all you turf and landscape lovers.
Lawncology is a method of viewing our lawns, landscapes, soil, and environment as one cohesive unit. Solving problems by looking at cultural practices, rethinking old ways and transitioning to a new and responsible way of caring for our landscapes. I travel all over the country, teaching classes talking to customers, getting stories on how they grow their businesses, walking lawns, visiting shows and showcasing businesses that have adopted these methods.

Will he drive to Long Island lol. Happy 4th John
What grass type is your green? Bent grass?
@@mr.f8420 yes, T1
Thank you. I have RK PRG in my back lawn. Cutting at 1”. I need a better reel mower. I have a cheap 5 blade American Reel mower. Leaves crimp lines and only cuts down to 1” 😞
How much to get this guy to Minnesota??
Don’t threaten him with a good time. I actually told him he should consider taking in “mail in” business.
Wish we had this in the Raleigh area!
Such a great biz
@@Lawncologywe had an old man that came around in a 3 wheel cart with a bell on it that sharpened knives and mower blades when I was growing up in Michigan
Caring for tools is always nice. Great of you to give the business a shout-out too. Happy Fourth!🇺🇸
@@dj-dg2wx one of the mowers I backslapped maybe a bit too much, the other not at all. The one I “took care of” was super worn out and out of round.
Looks like a spin grind and maybe a bedknife resurfacing . Your looking sharp today!
Could be 😁
On sight grinding service?!! The $ i would pay for this...
It’s so good
Which Toro reel mower is that? And what kind of price are we looking at? I need to start buttering my wife up so that I can purchase it if you decide to sell it 🙂
That’s a flex 21 greensmaster. Grooved front roller, grooming reel, 11 blade reel. Cartridge system with sweeper
Someone buy that man a pair or 2 of safety glasses!
Look for mulch to float away in heavy rains.
I don't even have a reel mower and i want the grinder 😆
@@ColeSpolaric it’s impressive
Nice video “sparky”. Whatcha working on?
Long vid releasing later today
Baby shampoo. Fraction of the cost.
does not hold water, just relieves surface tension of water.
Would you say this is good to apply before sod gets laid down? My lawn this year was destroyed from heavy machinery doing pipe repair so it’s basically starting all over again.
If you plant anything there in the mulch it'll die from root-rot or fungus. Most Weedblock breathes and allows water to flow through. It'll get stinky too. Also, weedblock doesn't keep weeds from growing, it keeps them from rooting in the soil so it's easier to pull them.
No planting. In fact, I’ve started doing more potted plants around the walls as I like the dimension and flexibility
An ornamental bed pre emergent (sureguard, isoxaben, Ron star, specticle) for first 2 or 3 seasons would’ve done better. Something about putting more plastic in the ground doesn’t feel right with all the talks of pfas and forever chemicals lately. Remember folks, what goes in the ground will one day go in a plant, which will one day continue its way down the food chain.
Landfill or no? That’s my question. Given there will be no plants here, it seems the lesser of two evils.
And if he threw them away, they’d go in the ground somewhere else
I needed this like yesterday!!! HELP John....hook a brotha up and send me some. Or at least get this out to us fast! lol
We've all seen those kind of shorts, reels, etc 😆
I like to use moderate weave burlap sacks, like old bags for 50lb of coffee. Some big box stores sell them for cheap. The material is natural, so will eventually break down and not leave plastic. It also doesnt block drainage or insects. Love the shot here. Beautiful place youve got
Did it damage the lawn?
Looks like crap.
I’ve already changed it
@@Lawncology lol update on it?
@@slyper_the_sly_dragon soon. I’m expanding the whole area. I’m doing a lot of changes to whole area of the yard
@Lawncology look forward to seeing it!
The thing that I find most interesting is that there is another gentleman named "Mike Payne" in the comments. Hi Mike 👋. From Michael Payne at Greene County Fertilizer Company.
I did the same a year ago!! Works great so far! I suspect weeds will grow in the mulch over time though
Never ever weed blocker under mulch. Spray it before mulch install you’ll never have a problem. - north jersey landscaper with years of experience.
Good tip. All of my other beds (about 8,000ft) have weed mat underneath.
Shape looks janky
It’s not contoured enough. Looked good on cut in but not after…
It'll take twenty years to get weeds growing there now. Looks good from my house.👍
Ah lucky dog. Here I am down in Millcreek getting blasted with heat! Lawn still looking great though.
Nice. I’m going to see how long I can go without water. I’m 5 days right now without wilt.
That's not going to work. As the mulch decomposes you'll get weeds. They might be easier to pull however. That shape though.... Were you still half asleep?
I can’t decide if I want to widen it on the closest side. It looks good up there, but I might adjust
If you never intend to plant anything there, that works. If you use rubber mulch, that works. If you use wood chips for mulch, and you intend to plant things there, that’s not a good idea; the decomposing mulch will have organic material that the soil would benefit from, but the plastic blocks that organic material from getting to the soil. The plastic could also hinder water drainage.
No plants going in there.
The product is impossible to get. Cant buy online, cant find a store that sells it. The company, you cant talk to anyone and no calls are returned. Seems like a great product if you could only buy it.
I would imagine if you called the office you would get an answer. So far everyone who’s reached out to me directly has had their questions answered
@@Lawncology as per my comment I called office several times. All you can do is leave a VM. No one returns calls.

? What pudding did you provide? Differences are apparent between recent mechanical lawn processing and unprocessed. But I see no difference between liquid dethatch and control. A few more seconds of description and clarity between liquid vs control would really help the video, IMHO.
Is this replacing hydratein?
Different mode of action and could even be used on an alternating schedule
Facebook Marketplace is the land of barely used E Mowers…
I have a 430 X and 2500 square meters of grass with lots of trees and walkways and a little hilly. For three years it has taken care of the grass and absolutely fantastic without any problems whatsoever. Definitely the best investment I've made and worth every penny. But it's clear that if you skimp and buy something that isn't made for the square footage you have, it won't work!
I just came across your video and KNEW it would be awesome when I saw the bottle of “Dave’s Ultimate Insanity” sauce! I’ve had a bottle of that in my fridge for well over a decade now and needed to find a good use for it, since it’s so… INSANE!!! Your video just made me LMAO 😂!!! Thank you for the humor and repellent tip! 👍
That would be a California summer time weapon. Nice work
Heck yeah, we are about to get cooked later this week.
BOOM! CANT WAIT TO GIVE THIS A SHOT
I want to dethatch my lawn so bad.. there is dead grass and i messed up this spring by now aerating . My soil was so compacted. Ive just been watering and did some fertilizer “REVIVE” but still some yellow where the sun hits but soil a little more soft.
Agreed! I will say that Battery technology has come a long way Ever since the demand for the Electric push, BUT as far as my landscaping experience goes -- Nothing is catching up to the I.C.E. at least not yet. I use a Reel mower and not a Rotary mower so my options are very limited.
Is this better than fourplay
Using a liquid nitrogen calculator, at 8oz/1000 that's less than 0.1 pounds of nitrogen per 1000? Is that right?
"Where's the rest?" You see that shed? It's that, but without the plants around.
🤣🤣🤣 right!
Please and thank you. 🎉
I can get you the liquid right now, the granular is about 10 days out
is this product for purchase if so where and is a link possible
Sweet I can’t wait to use it. Thanks for looking out for the diy. Now bless us with a pinch of that pro grade material. They get all the good stuff. 😂
You’re going to love
How would you compare this to the locally available Lesco Carbon Pro G? Is it the water retention aspect or the organic input?
Sorry 😐
I’ve got to get some! I take care of my elderly neighbor’s yard and her sprinkler system is busted. Not sure if it’s a money thing or what but she won’t fix it and I don’t want to be too pushy about it. Something like this will go a long way when we get almost no rain for the rest of the summer. What’s the difference between Hydr8 and something like Hydretain? I’d rather support your company so I’m going to do Hydr8 for sure but just curious about the major differences.
